“Last minute Canaries holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

Rooms clean, bed very hard, food excellent with plenty of choice, good selection of drinks on all inclusive option. Quiet location, except for the planes flying overhead, not much to do if you're not into sunbathing. Nice little shopping area about 15 minutes walk away, not your usual holiday tat shops.

Room Tip: The blaconies on the 5th floor get some sunshine.

We stayed at this hotel for 13 nights from the 30th to the 12th Sept 2013...On arrival we were greeted warmly and professionally although check in was a little slow. Our room was on the 3rd floor room 308 a junior suite with sea views..Cannot fault the presentation of the rooms they are excellent and the views incredible...However the BEDS!! are shocking and very uncomfortable...!
So much so my husband had a bad back for 11 nights out of the 13 and i didnt sleep much more that 3-4 hrs and that was after quite a few Vodka's...!
Another downfall was the race for sunbeds, never in my life of traveling and holidays have i ever had to get up and race for a sunbed at 7AM !!..This was ridiculous, mainly because the sunbed allocation wasn't adequate, and mainly because this hotel sits on the beachfront of the WINDSURFING CAPITAL of the world, so what does that men? IT'S VERY WINDY!. So if you like blistering heat with little breeze this hotel and location is not for you..I personally loved the refreshing gust..well in fact it was gale force, so much so you need pegs to hold your towels on lol !! I have never wrestled as much with towels as i have this holiday...
So now i am gong to list what i feel in my opinion is the plus and minus of this hotel and location.

So first Minus
1) This may put off some, however i found this a bonus...Quiet location, 10 minute walk to a little town that is quite lovely..
2) Beds need attention...Like sleeping on concrete..
3) Again i found it a bonus, but for some not, It blows a gale all day..
4) Restaurant staff not enough of, and they need to smile more, were on holiday and don't need to see miserable faces !
5) The entertainment is absolutely abysmal..It like sitting in a working mans club so much so we sat outside for most part..again this is only my opinion..!
6) The pool bar closes at 6 so they want you out of there..!
7) Spa doesn't open until ten so clean towels you need to change on an evening, hang onto them if you want a bed before ten !!

Positive
1) CHILD FREE !
2) 10 Minutes from the airport
3) Lovely, clean and very modern hotel
4) Food nice, good selection, but not great and not consistent, but on the whole good
5) Lovely well decorated rooms with amazing views
7) Great if you just want pure relaxation with no frills
8) Even though i said staff were miserable, the management couldn't do enough for you

Richard the entertainer, now i wasn't sure to put this in the negative but on the whole he did try, he is like marmite you either love him or hate him, i liked his dry wit but as an entertainer he is RUBBISH !!

Just to complete my review..At the start of our holiday we did say that we would go back, but after the second week i'm not so sure now unless they organise themselves better, and what i mean by that is...I think the hotel has gone through a management changeover, and they are putting some great improvements in place..Unfortunately we were the guests that felt the inconvenience..Locking the sunbeds up until 10 so they can clean the pool area, this really did upset a lot of residents...Mowing the grass at the side of the pool area starting at 7 and finishing at 11 getting covered in grass and the smell of fuel..hmm nice..also they decided to wash down the screens surrounding the hotel, therefore its windy and you've guessed it the spray drenched us through whilst sunbathing..
Now on the whole this is a lovely hotel if the wind and location doesn't sway you, and if the implemented improvements were just getting into a routine then you can excuse the upsets..However if not then this hotel will miss out on a lot of holiday makers coming back..!
This has been written from my point of view, and experience, i would recommend this hotel taking into consideration the wind and location that i loved..!

Room Tip: Ask for 5th floor sea view, they are amazing !

Just returned from a wonderful 10 night stay at this adults only hotel. From reading previous reviews we knew the hotel was located in a quiet area and this is exactly what we were looking for, a nice quiet place just to get away from it all. The hotel is very modern and from the outside really does look like a multi storey car park! The interior seashell lights really are quite odd and became the topic of many a conversation! However, the decor is very nice. The hotel is very clean and comfortable throughout and the rooms are very spacious and spotlessly clean. Room was cleaned every day and towels were replaced on a daily basis. We had a mountain view room, which overlooked the carpark and whilst not the best view on offer it was very good for people watching! The area is also very windy but provides some welcome relief on very hot days.

The restaurant offered a wide variety of foods and there was something to suit all tastes. I do feel though that the food at breakfast could have been hotter as on most days the food was luke warm and also if you didn't get breakfast before 9am it was hard to find a clean table that had cutlery, cups and saucers etc and we often laid the tables ourselves. This is mainly due to the skeleton staff the hotel has and I am actually amazed at how they manage to run it so well with so little staff.

We had read on other reviews that there wasn't a problem getting sunbeds but unfortunately this wasn't the case during our stay when I believe the hotel was at full capacity. By 10am you really had no chance of getting one. Sunbeds were often 'reserved' and yet remained empty for hours!! After several complaints the hotel shipped in some new sunbeds which seemed to resolve the problem, although removing the broken sunbeds would have also been helpful. The pool itself is wonderful, although very salty. I didn't use the spa although other guests said it was very good.

There are 3 bars, the pool bar which opens at 10am, the terrace bar and the disco bar from 9pm. There seemed to be every drink you could think of and the local drinks were really quite good and very large measures. The all inclusive finishes at 11 but you can purchase drinks until 12. It's a shame that after 12 its a case of lights out and off to your room you go, particularly as its adults only and this would be my main complaint about the hotel. I'm not suggesting that the bars should stay open all night but surely it could be extended to at least 1am.

The entertainment is run solely by Richard who is a little bit court jester and a little bit Fawlty Towers' Manuel. However, he's very sweet and very entertaining. He organises daytime games in the form of darts, skittles, pool, table tennis, water polo etc and also walks into the town of El Medano to visit the market. As the hotel is in a very quiet area the games provide a fun distraction from sunbathing. The evening entertainment is a bit hit and miss, there's your usual bird shows, local singers, some which were entertaining purely because they were so awful, flamenco dancers and quizzes and games organised by Richard. I guarantee by the end of your stay you will have picked up one or two of his phrases such as 'you cheeky lady' 'you give me stress' He may not be everyone's cup of tea but he does try really hard to get people involved and for me gave the holiday a welcome injection of fun.

Overall we had a wonderful holiday, which was certainly made more special by the many lovely people we met. The hotel is very good and with a bit more attention to detail and more staff could be excellent.

We stayed for 5 nights from the 6th September. We were on the 5th floor overlooking the sea. It was a fantastic room and view, the best we have ever had. The room was cleaned daily and towels changed everyday. Staff were helpful and friendly. All inclusive drinks were fine and food was of a good standard with enough to choose from. When we got there it seemed a struggle to locate a sunbed if you hadn't reserved one but on the day we left they bought in some more beds. Pool towels are provided, although the spa was open at 10.00 the towels were not always available until shortly after. Overall a really good holiday with only very minor criticisms.

Room Tip: Higher levels have fantastic views

we visited this hotel in august, adults only, if you just require a nice peaceful break, then this is the place to be. just a 10mins walk into the town centre along the path besides the beach. in the small town you have a good selection of bars and resturants. this is also where you can also catch a bus into las americas or las christanos for 3.5euros.
the area is known for windsurfers. where you can just watch from beside the pool area, the beach is 10yards from the exit of the pool area.
the hotel and staff can not do enough for you. the rooms are cleaned daily. plenty of space and english tv for the soap fans.

Room Tip: we had a room on the 2nd floor, not with sea view, but it was nice and quiet. you can not see over t...

We stayed here 6-13th Sept and can honestly say its not even close to its 4 star rating. The rooms are average with questionable levels of cleanliness, towels are poor quality and not changed daily, beds not made.
The food is very poor, don't get me wrong there is plenty available its just of low quality with no passion for presentation.
Breakfast - average
Lunch - poor
Evening meal - pot luck!
The raised outside bar smells like a large ashtray with stained furniture and poor lighting. Bar service is ok with good measures depending on who is serving.
The pool area needs attention including removal of broken steel sunbeds and a more structured cleaning program, on one day the sunbeds were chained up until 9.30am which resulted in a flood of complaints at reception which they failed to deal with. Towel quality from the Spa was hit and miss which included stained and torn towels along with none being available until late morning.
On the positive side it is a quiet and relaxing hotel with lovely views as long as you don't face the car park. We think overall the hotel has the potential to be very nice, it just needs quality levels improving in all areas.
