“Relaxing and soothing experience (waterslides are crazy though!)”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

We didn't stay here, we just went for the hot springs. Make sure to buy your ticket in town - we paid $35 for dinner + hot springs (and I think some people got them for $32 or $33). Buffet was pretty good; decent selection of food (both local and non-local food). The hot springs were fantastic - we enjoyed the hotter springs (closer to the top), and had a blast on the water slides. Beware - they are FAST! If you have an injury, consider whether you want to ride, because it really throws you around. Even the slower one was really fast. Super exhilarating, but a bit crazy. We went in the evening, after white water rafting, and really enjoyed the hot springs experience. Overall, clean, and relaxing - very happy we made the trip here!

- lots of kids running around
- this place can be a water park that can be put any place in the world that you can experience in the city you probably live in right now and won't know the difference, you won't experience costa rica at all through this place
- just an expensive aqua park, money maker you know you are getting ripped off and hosed at
- drinks non alcoholic are $5.50 PLUS tax of 13% and tip of 10% alcoholic beverages $10-12 USD
- buffet is pathetic, I think you will get better service and food if you go to jail for a night, seriously. Rice and beans that is plated for you by a very, VERY disgruntled worker!

It is clean and has great ambiance. You can get a discount price $55 each for the day and buffet. The only thing to stay away from are the dangerous water slides. People were getting hurt all day. We also went to Los Gatos which is cheaper but not as fun.

Might be great for family so note my comment is for singles. A good scene. All you can eat buffet for $20 included soups, salad, fruit, & assortment of food including chicken, stew-like steak dish, tamales, rice, beans, pasta station. The chocolate fountain is a hit with children. Good meal and recommend for those looking to please everyone, but its more American than authentic Costa Rican food.

As for Springs you should know its water from a spring that is filtered and brought into pools. So while it may be water from a spring, it looks and feels like multiple giant hot tubs. For real springs you should go to river in Tabacon.

One positive is that they have bars in the hot tubs.....but they are expensive.

We were advised to go to Tabacon instead of Baldi because we were warned Baldi would be way too crowded. We went for Baldi because it was so much cheaper. We made the right choice. Perhaps it was just the time of year we were visiting (Thanksgiving 2013), but we found plenty of privacy. We were often the only ones in huge pools.

The food was not great, but it was only a couple extra bucks so probably worth it just to be able to stay there for a few more hours.

We bought the tickets in town from one of the travel companies. Much cheaper that way.

Plain and simple, this place sucked. We only stayed one night and then left. Try Lomas del Volcan down the road towards La Fortuna. It is 100 times better. If you want to experience the hot springs, just get a day pass....stay elsewhere. The rooms are dated and ours was in need of repair. The tub was cracked, patched and I thought we might fall through it since there seemed to be a 'soft' spot. Ugh. They also charge guests for a locker, which I thought was weird since we paid a couple hundred bucks for a room worthy of Motel 6. Don't get me started on the $10 drinks either....oh, and the front desk people have an attitude, too. If you are looking at their website in the US, it is apparently a different company or booking agent. Not only does the company not get back to you regarding reservations, but when you show the front desk the rates and that website, they tell you those aren't the correct rates and refer you to the Costa Rican version of the site with higher rates. It was the one low spot in a 15 day adventure in paradise filled with highlights.

Baldi hot springs is an extravagant facility with many themed pools of varying temperatures and designs. When we went on a Wednesday night, the facility was mostly empty, giving it a bit of an eerie appearance. It was nice to relax in the pools, but it felt a little strange how the place was deserted. We had dinner there and it was pretty good. It bugged us that the hotsprings were not natural... Overall for the price, it really wasn't the best thing to do in Fortuna.
