“Helpful and welcoming”

We stopped at the Keld Lodge after a very long walk from Askrigg. It was a welcome site on the horizon and the welcome continued as soon as we walked in. Matt showed us to our room and even brought up fresh milk and some delicious cake to sustain us until an hour or so later when the evening meal was avaliable. The room was nice and comfortable with a lovely warm shower. The evening meal was very good indeed with nice beer and wine and a nice choice of starters and mains that were interesting but not too complicated. The service from Matt was excellent. This continued after a superb night's sleep at breakfast. The breakfast itself was delicious and the service matched this topped off with the offer of a lift to Reeth to avoid waiing, and paying for the bus. We couldn't recommend this place highly enough and we will go out of our way to stay there again.

Stayed at the Keld Lodge for 2 nights in mid Feb as part of a friends wedding which was being held in this lovely part of the world.

They wedding couple couldn't have chosen a nicer place for us to be based at. The rooms are everything you need, modern, clean, warm and comfortable and the food served, both at breakfast and dinner was excellent. The owner Nick, and manager Matt were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them, always being on hand should you need anything.

There is a well stocked bar, a nice little lounge to relax in and the hotel has WiFi, should you need to catch up with the world.

All in all Keld Lodge is a fine example how a little local hotel & restaurant should be run.

We booked a table for my birthday weekend 2 nights last weekend 9th and 10th Feb 2013 they opened up just for us the Service we got from Matt the manager was superb he was so attentive and the value for the quality of food was also fantastic and Adam the chef went out of his way to cook special menu for my fussy son Great to have the place to ourselves and spend time in the very cost Residents lounge even though we weren't residents :) I even got a birthday card from Matt and Adam the chef on the Sunday night ., Would recommend for all occasions and we will definitely be back every night next time we are up again

My partner Olivia and I visited Keld Lodge in early February, 2013, for a short weekend break to the country.

What struck me as brilliant is that they are a hotel that are very happy to accept dogs for a small charge; as dog owners we are always having problems finding places to stay. Matt the hotel manager was very hospitable, providing bedding for the dogs, as well as a welcoming pot of tea on arrival.

The facilities are very nice, they have a lounge, bar, and dining areas to cater for passing visitors and residents, all very clean and tasteful; something you wouldn't immediately expect for a hotel that is very accepting of dogs. This was pleasant since we are normally caste into the dingy and dirty areas when visiting places; such was our experience when visiting The Sandford Arms, near Appleby.

The rooms were very clean, and the facilities cater for every need; you can have an en-suite room for a little more, or a normal bedroom with use of the very clean communal bathrooms.

We will definitely be visiting again!

Just spent 3 days over new year at Keld Lodge for our third time. Great food and service throughout our stay. Nick and Karen and family provide first class hospitality.
They are excellent hosts in every aspect and we and our friends have already booked for next new year.

We arrived after 5 hours of our coast to coast walk. Rain wet and wind battered. We were welcomed with pots of tea, home made cake and ale. There is a brilliant piping hot drying room. After a shower we settled into the guest living room (wide selection of books - not just on walking). Dinner was delicious; proper hearty home cooked food by their chef. With good ales and wine. Breakfast was also tasty and lots of it - just what we needed. Nick and Karen ensure that you have everything you need during your stay and, having done the coast to coast themselves, they know all about it. Nick waved us off and we left happy with a spring in our step. Stay here - there'll treat you like family.

We stayed at Keld Lodge on the coast to coast and had an enjoyable stay. Keld Lodge has a great bar and restaurant. The room was adequate and there is a drying room - important for walkers. In all a comfortable stay and I would choose to stay at Keld Lodge again.
