Review written in the context of undertaking Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk. Accommodation arranged by Macs Adventures. On the route. Warm welcome and farewell. Drink and cake offered on arrival (as well as an optional hosing down). Set up to meet all walker’s needs. A good drying room. Bar with real ales, lounge and separate dining room with separate tables. Good evening meal with non-pub food choices. Breakfast satisfactory. Good packed lunches provided.

We were walking the Pennine Way and arrived wet. We were made welcome and all the needs ot wet walkers were met in a friendly manner. Rooms were small but good bathrooms - good drying room for boots and clothes. The evening meal was good and the breakfsat buffet excellent. All in all perfectly right for an overnoght stop.

Four of us stayed here while walking Coast2coast.Nine Standards to Keld on a very wet and windy day wasnt the highlight of the walk. However having Keld lodge at the end of the day was a fantastic surprise.
I CANT FIND ANY FAULT WITH THIS PLACE.
The owners really do try their very best to make everyones stay the best possible. They are keen walkers and know just what walkers need.
Attention detail is in evidence everywhere.
Great welcome..bags carried upstairs..Tea and cake available..Drying room..computer access..
First class food in the evening at reasonable prices and best pint of Black sheep on the route.
Nick and Karen deserve to make a success of this place for the 100% effort they put in.
MASSIVE THANK YOU

Keld Lodge has a monopoly in Keld.
It was OK.
Clean, warm rooms an excellent bathroom, with a large hot shower.

Sometimes I fear I rate these places based on the personalities that run them.
As I said it was OK but the over bearing waitress put me off.

The buffet style breakfast was very good.

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms are of a good quality.

May I correct this reviewer.
Keld Lodge does not have a monopoly - there are four other B&B's in and around Keld.
I would also like to make it clear that the 'over bearing waitress' is the same person who has been mentioned by a number of other reviewers in a very positive light.

I loved staying here- a very warm welcome, despite arriving in their 'down time'. I booked this as a solo female walker on the C2C and Nick was brilliant with offering advice on the C2C when I booked and offered I could contact him if I needed help in difficulties planning my walk. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable hosts who greeted me with a smile and lemon drizzle cake on arrival. My room was excellent- clean and well equipped with shower, toiletries, coffee, tea etc, TV, hairdryer. The communal areas are really comfortable and the food was great- evening meal and breakfast. Excellent location for those doing the C2C.

We were welcomed with tea and cake in the lounge.
The owners are friendly and happy to chat.
Our room was very small but clean and adequate.
There is a large - and very effective - drying room.
Breakfast is a buffet - unique in our Coast to Coast experience - but that's great as you can eat exactly what you want.
We liked the Keld Lodge.

From the outset we were made to feel incredibly welcome - hosts could not do enough, from showing us the excellent drying facilities, to the complimentary coffee and lemon cake in the bar. Only a little disappointed by the food which did not quite stand up to the overall quality elsewhere in this stay. Breakfast really was average, a let down after a lovely night. One benefit was the checking of our room by the owner as we were planning to leave - if he hadn't then our phone charger would still be there! If you do the Coast to Coast then this place is a must.
