Limoux bed and breakfast in the Hothouse
Ranked #3 of 13 Limoux B&B and Inns
Reviewed September 3, 2013

My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Hothouse whilst down in Limoux for a whistlestop visit for a wedding. Starting with the most important, the breakfast was topclass, so much fresh fruit and so many homemade delights it was difficult to know where to start. Above all, Mark's granola was fantastic. We would recommend staying just for that. Additionally, the room was very comfortable, opening out on to the terrace, the music was a wonderful constant and the pool coud not have been clearer nor at a better temperature. The welcome we received and the relaxed atmosphere made us feel completely at ease. The best reflection of how good a place is, is surely your instinctive reaction of whether you would come back. In the case of the little oasis of comfort that Kate and Mark have created at the Hothouse, the answer is an unreserved 'yes'.

It is really hard to know what to add to the glowing stuff already written here.
We imposed ourselves on Mark, Kate & Ezra for 8 days and they couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming throughout. The location is great. The weather was cool and sunny and windy and raining and warm and snowing.
Wonderful place. Wonderful people. Highly recommended.

We had the most delightful stay at the Hothouse this summer. It is a curious and wonderful building with stunning views and a super pool. But we loved our stay because of the hosts. They are the most welcoming, kind, generous and fun people you could imagine and made us feel SO at home in their home - Kate, Mark and Ezra are simply the best hosts. We were only there for 3 nights and it wasn't really long enough. And if, like me, you're an artist at heart you'll enjoy it all the more - they are musicians and writers and a blossoming animator and there are lots of interesting conversations to be had. Oh and some lovely animals too. What more can I say - don't miss the home made bread! And, for those of you who want a little more independence they are equally good at leaving you in peace and the bedroom has its own terrace and door - so whatever sort of break you want you could almost certainly have it at the hothouse. We'll be coming back - Tilda needs to see Ananas again anyway! Huge thanks.

We stayed with Kate, Mark and Enza for 3 or 4 magic days. Perfect spot to chill out for few days, lovely pool, magic breakfasts with lovely homemade jams etc, delicious cake on offer, comfy bed, what more could you want! Lovely family, who were most helpful and chatty, but who were just as happy to leave you to your own devices if you so wished. Highly recommended by us.

We stayed here for 7 nights. The perfect antidote for a busy life. Mark and Kate are prepared to share their lives with you. Their work/life balance is something to be admired. This excellent location accentuates their creative talents. We were warmly welcomed and helped with planning our break. An excellent pool which was at this time of year essential. We enjoyed local walks, fine cuisine and excellent wine.( Limoux Blanquette) A short walk out of town and therefore a peaceful location even with the local 6.30am train.A comfortable bed with access to own bathroom.

This bed and breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed our visit immensely. We stayed here for 4 nights in the very comfortable room shown on the website which opens into the garden area where you have a patio table should you wish to sit somewhere and enjoy the view. The bed was good and there was a decent amount of storage space in the room too. The bathroom and loo were 2 steps across the corridor, which during our stay were only for our use. Breakfast, chatting, drinking wine, sharing an evening meal (if requested) and passing the time of day were spent around the communal table which is perhaps where, and why our stay here was most enjoyable. Mark and Kate are great hosts and full of useful information about Limoux and life in France. They are musicians and artists so, maybe, expect there to be lots of music around the house during the day and evening (no worries the music is good and nights are very calm, quiet and comfortable). This is a family home with bed and breakfast and is not a formal hotel, and this is what appealed to us. We had quite hot but not extreme weather and our room remained fine for a good night's sleep throughout (end of May early June).

Limoux and the area requires quite a lot of time to explore and all very nice so take your time. We would like to live here too. Don't miss the Cathar Castle at Puilaurens, for realism of what a medieval fortress should be - take a camera, binoculars, water and good shoes. Whereas Carcassonne? We were not convinced, may it's the Disney version!

Thank you again Kate, Mark, Oliver and Ezra.

I stayed at this lovely little B & B last week. The home is lovely. It is well cared for and you feel the warmth upon walking in. Kate and her family were very welcoming, serving tea with great conversation. The pool is quite beautiful but the weather wasn't permitting me to indulge. Kate, her husband and son are all very gifted artists and the vibe of the house is very cool and authentic. I will be back for a visit for sure when warmer weather grows near to hang out in the pool and read my book. Also the bed was very comfortable and opened up to a lovely deck. Thanks Kate for everything!
