Decided to have a look here as we had been told it was one of the things to see. Access to the beach is via a path which is slightly steep and a bit rough under foot. However we were stopped part way up by a lifeguard who informed us we could not go any further because of the risk of rock falls. We took a picture and left.

Too may people. Too close together. No amenities for a day on the beach. Take the trip. Take the picture (early before the crowds arrive) and go somewhere else like Theros Wave Club near Vlichada.

We went yesterday - Aug 24, 2013, and there is tape up preventing access. There has been a landslide apparently, so check with someone before you schlep down the 500 m from Akrotiri, or bring heavy beach towels etc with you and walk the archeological site (which is really interesting) with all of that weight, as we did. There is a shallow rocky area just past the tavernas on the right where folk were swimming. We had a dip. Slimy rocks and shallow water a ways out. If you do go in take water shoes. There are boats from the taverna area that take yu to the white and black beaches, so all is not lost if you are determined to go, but that is about 5 euros a pop.

Although the setting is beautiful the beach itself was not great. The rocks were painfully hot and the water was dirty (particularly compared to other beaches on the island). It was a cool site to visit for a short time but not the place for an afternoon at the beach.

Horrible pad to get to the beach. Not services at all. If you like a beach with a wild nature, then this is something for you, but if you like to have a place to drink/eat something, wc, umbrella, etc like us, then forget about this beach and go to Perivolos or Perissa. We took some nice pics from the distance and that was all the nice experience. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.
