Fantastic island, beautifull village, ideal hotel to stay, Mathios in Akrotiri is a very special point for relaxing and enjoy Santorini. Very near to Akrotiri excavation as well.
Thank you Mathios villas for the nice time and the help to discover all good points of the island.
The time next to the pool for lunch and dinner will be unforgetable.

We arrived late night/early morning and the hotel helped us with the transfer from the airport, very appreciated!

We had booked two nights in a standard room with a double-bed. The room was a good size and the double bed was two single beds put together. The room was very clean and with a nice air-condition.
We had read that all rooms have a private balcony facing the pool, the terrace our the ocean. We where a bit disappointed when we saw that we had a room on the lowest level (under the road level) with a "balcony" facing the wall with the road going next to us.
The pool area is nice with two separate pools with a bar in the middle. Kostas and his crew is very helpful and the location of the hotel is good if you want to explore the souther part of Santorini. We would really recommend you to rent a atv/scoter/car, Kostas helped us organize it.

There is a small beach just close by with a nice taverna for lunch. The bus to Fira stops just outside the hotel.

This is a typical 3-star hotel but with an even nicer pool area.

After travelling for 4 weeks through europe and being half way through our entire trip my wife and i headed to Santorini for our holiday away from our holiday. we booked this hotel with a local travel agent in athens. Our thoughts are as follows;

Liked: pool area, the waiter (who also cleaned the pool and did about 20hrs of work everday) - was extremly polite, efficient and helpful.

Disliked: distance from major areas and nice beaches (travel agent promised that it was close to the beach, but only bays - must have own transport if you are to stay here-hire quad- 10 mins to beach by bike), they did help us hire a quad at a resonable cost- but we ended up with a bad bike for 4 days that we had to kick start and could not pull our 125kg combined weight up a slight hill at over 30kms/hr which is dangerous with cars always trying to overtake, the spedo also was on the fritz.
We booked a double bed and were only accomodated with singlebeds that could not even be pushed together. Promised free wifi but cost 3 euro a day. The bathroom was dismal, tiny dogbox with a tiny shower with shower curtin stuck to you all the time, water teprature never consistant(hot,cold,hot,cold)..I could not sit square on the toilet as my knees did not fit. The beds were terrible but the room was ok size. Frozen pizzas for lunch and diiner, extra cost for use of a safe. Expensive to get back to the port when leaving and forced to head their 2 hours early, then forced into a restauraunt that would not serve (sell us) water unless we bought something else for an exponential price.
Overall we were very disapointed with our trip to the greek islands, for the price we paid for the hotel compared to other resort islands/areas we have been to around the world, dissapointing.
Hope this helps

Kostas and his friendly staff will really look after you during your stay at the Hotel Mathios village. The rooms were very nice and very clean.   The pool facilities are excellent, providing a nice place to kick back and relax. The whole place is kept immaculately clean by their committed staff. Every day every surface inside and out was either mopped, dusted or cleaned. It was amazing to watch.

If you do stay here. I would strongly recommend you include your meals with your stay. The food provided at Hotel Mathios village is amazing. All traditional home cooked Greek food which is an experience that should not be missed.  There is a different variation each day of the week and all were great.  The dining experience can only be improved by ensuring you accompany your meal with their family made red or white wine.

The hotel is located at the southern end of Santorini and you can get around by bus from the nearby bus stop. The best way to see the island is by car which Kostas can organise for you.   He will also recommend and can organise other activities such boat trips to the volcano and nearby islands.

When I return to Santorini, I will definitely be returning to the Hotel Mathios Village. You really are treated like you are part of the family there. If you chose to stay at the Mathios Hotel Village, tell Kostas Wayne sent you.

Room Tip: Contact Kostas directly rather than going though a travel agent as he will give you a better deal.
