We are travelling on a budget, but decided to splurge a bit to stay at Apanemo after seeing photos and reading reviews- we are so happy that we did! Spiros was a wonderful host, always around to offer advice, organise quad bike hire for us, even drop us off at the port when we had to leave. The views from the hotel are breathtaking, and we probably spent more time in the pool than exploring the island (oops). The rooms are spacious with great kitchen facilities, and sleeping in a loft was a real novelty! Although Akrotiri is away from the touristy areas of Fira and Oia, it is definitely worth the additional travelling around- we would be back in a heartbeat :)

I stayed here with my daughter and grandaughter. We had a great time. We were supossed to stay somewhere else but was a mix up with our booking which was good for us as this hotel was lovely and Spiro and his mum could not do enough for us. Lovely people you must stay here.

Just mind-blowing caldera views from the rooms and the hotel. Very artistically done up place. We had booked an apartment and were delighted to find that we got one of those typical cave rooms with a loft. Spiros (the hotel manager) is the most friendly host ever. He never said no to anything we asked for; from wine glasses to an extra bed. He even offered us free transfers to the hotel. The only thing is that you do need to have your own car to do any sight-seeing in the area. But that is only if you want to leave the hotel and venture out.

The view is amazing. Rooms are comfortable and offer an epic view of the caldera. Staff is very friendly and family oriented. Wifi was a bit difficult though but it was manageable. All in all, the only place I'll go back to in Santorini.

Having read the reviews and seen the pictures, my wife and I were looking forward to our stay at Akrotiri's Apanemo. But it exceeded our very high expectations. The pictures do not deceive; the Apanemo sits on a site perfect for viewing the caldera, the volcano, and the rest of this extraordinarily beautiful island. The village of Akrotiri, on the southern end of the island, is quiet and charming and home to several excellent tavernas, and the hotel is a very short drive to the stunning excavations of ancient Akrotiri, buried in ash by the explosion that formed the caldera that makes the island so beautiful. At the hotel one can sit on one's private balcony and see in the distance Fira and Oiea perched on the at the mid-point and at the northern end of the island. I've saved the best for last. The family that runs the hotel makes one feel at home. Spiros seems to have infinite reserves of good humor, information. There may be places with more amenities, and there are chicer places on the island, but if I can get to Santorini again, I will be staying at Apanemo.

We had checked into this hotel for about 5 mins when it became apparent that this was somewhere very special. The welcome we received was as friendly as we have had anywhere and the owner, Spiros, was like no hotelier we had encountered, welcoming, helpful attentive and generous with his time and recommendations. When we suggested we visit a particular place he suggested that we might find this expensive, overcrowded and a little touristy, we have subsequently found out from others that this was spot on. As we had arrived at night we had to wait until the following day to appreciate the views. Spectacular! We rarely, if ever, return to a break destination. This time we may make an exception. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: All have great views.

Beautiful hotel.. Very nice views. Owner is very good, helpful, gave lot of information and suggested nice restaurants. Spiros is really helpful. We definitely will keep coming back. The hotel is a hike from the bus stop but spiros kindly picked us from the bus stop.

Room Tip: Room 19 has good view of the sea, hotel and of the fields at the back.
