The hotel in my opinion is in the best location being away from the busy towns of fira and oia, but access to these places is very easy by car taxi or local bus. Built into the cliff side with stunning views of the caldera. Amazing rooms with infinity pools hanging over the cliff edge. It is a very new hotel and has had a few teething problems but will be the best on the island!! Pepi and Mia are brilliant and really go the extra mile along George Akrivos the owner who made the trip extra special. It is certainly a place you will remember. We will be returning

W stayed here, in one of the superior deluxe rooms, for 5 days in mid September. The view is incredible and we enjoyed doing nothing and lazing by our private pool. The resort is a little far away from Fira (15 mins drive) and Oia (30-40 mins drive) so a hire car is essential. Reception can sort that out for you.

The property is built into the cliff face and most of the rooms are too so it's a bit of a trek from reception down to the rooms every day, but that's a small price to pay.

Peppe is one of the receptionists and by far the best and most competent one. We ordered an iron from one of the other receptionists and it turned up a day later without an ironing board. The board never showed up.

I stayed in "Ambassador" in Santorini island in Greece for a week and my holidays were wonderful!
Everything was great : the rooms (I adored the beds and pillows!!), the view (breath taking), the food (delicious), the service (excellent).
The stuff of Ambassador is experienced, friendly and did all the best in order to make my staying there unforgettable!
And the most important : the hotel has a generator and not a single problem was occurred during the black-out in Santorini.
When the whole island was depth in darkness, I was enjoyed my holidays in full illumination & with a lot of cold or hot water!!!

Thank you all for everything and I will came back to you next year for sure.
This is a promise..... mainly to my self!!!!
And this time, I will catch..... the helicopter!!!!

The Ambassador Santorini Resort, (New name of Apanema) is one of the new island’s Jem. This summer of 2013, was the Opening Season of the Hotel. There was a little bit nervousness; however staff was absolutely friendly and kind!
About the Suites, we have to mention that it was one of the largest rooms we ever stayed. There are 3 types of rooms. We stayed at “the luxuries suites” where it could be accommodated from 2-4 persons. You have to visit their official site about the special features of this amazing hotel.
The location is also a plus, especially for us that we like to be away from the busy areas. It is located at the South part of island; however it is on the side where you can have a full view of Fira and Oia (the Central Villages) on the straight-right and the spectacular sunset on the straight-left. You
Also, you can order the breakfast you like (anyway you like it) informing the Front desk until the last evening, with the preference card. Breakfast was really delicious!
Many words, many images ONE sense Relaxation… We definitely suggest it!

This was not my first trip to Santorini. I know the island very well for spending time there on several occasions. I have stayed in different accommodations in the past. When the Ambassador (ex-Apanema) started advertising its opening in the summer of 2013, me and my family decided to give it a shot since it was advertised as the newest and best place on the island.

Based on the prices, we had a feeling it was going to be. What a crushing deception!!! We booked a Serenity suite with private pool for 5 nights. Those suites include two bedrooms with two full bathrooms. At way over 2,500 euros a night you should expect nothing less than perfection in all areas. We were extremely far from that.

Service: one word – CATASTROPHIC
The reception is badly understaffed. Only one receptionist who has to welcome new guests, show them to their rooms, check out departing guests, answer the telephone, and deal with guest demands and issues… this is absolutely not acceptable. One hotel manager (yes, you Mr. Nikolas T.) who has a completely obnoxious attitude towards guest, not saluting them nor talking to them and not helping the lone receptionist… Where did you learn how to manage a luxury resort Mr. Nikolas?
The reception is ill-equipped: one desktop… one! So when something is not working on it, everybody waits…
We waited a good 45min after our arrival before being able to access the receptionist… crazy. And for checking out, same deal, the check out took over 20min… unacceptable
Before our arrival, we had requested and obtained confirmation of the area of the “resort” we wanted to be in with a Mr. Marcelino at the time (this gentleman seems to have vanished…) The Serenity suites we wanted were either 14, 15 or 16, because of the view. To our surprise, we were shown to suite 8, which has a terrible location, behind another building, and on their main pathway, not ideal for a Caldera view and privacy. We had to stand firm and fight hard to finally obtain what we wanted. This ended up in a 3h wait before being able to get to our room as it had to be cleaned.

Other bad things in miscellaneous order:
- Spa and fitness center not operational
- Still waiting for the promised “welcome Champagne” (never happened)
- The complimentary car rental turned out to be a complete piece of junk. I am a race car driver so I know a thing or two about cars, but this car was borderline dangerous. I did not want to raise more hell with it and I just managed.
- I requested a large pool umbrella for our private pool as some other suites had one but not ours. I was first given some [--] excuses about “safety and the wind”… I kept asking for it. After 24h or requests, I went to the local “Walmart” (named Carrefour) and bought my own umbrella with a water filled based. After 48h, the hotel finally brought us a heavy duty pool umbrella. Absolutely ridiculous…

Accommodation: an architect delirium
The rooms are breath taking for sure... but once the first amazement has faded, you realize that they are completely ill conceived. I call that an architect delirium:
- Not enough furniture: I like minimalist floorplans, but the rooms are lacking at least a chest of drawers in each room and a coffee table in the living room... where do you put your glass down when you gather in the living room for a drink?
- Crazy steps, stairways, half floors, sometimes quarter floors... If you don't have a good balance or solid ankles, don't even try to go upstairs in the Serenity rooms, you will fall and break something... not safe in my opinion. There is a limit to extreme architectural designs and this has gone too far.
- Lost space in the rooms all over the place...

Other problems:
- The rooms are cleaned way too late in the day (sometime after 4pm even 5pm)
- Terrible WiFi/Internet coverage in the rooms... you have to go to the main pool or to the reception for decent coverage.
- Complementary AS350 helicopter noise due to a helipad located on the premises.

No for sure, I will never return to this resort ever. If you want to go to Santorini and want to enjoy a hotel on the cliff overlooking the Caldera, I think you have a much better quality over price ratio at Volcano Views or rent a villa. Ambassador Resort was for me a a huge disappointment and a big waste of money.

Dear guest

We have been really disappointed and at the same time surprised since the day we received your comments, but we are willing to give you a proper response. Firstly, we are very proud of our very experienced staff, including our excellent qualified Hotel Manager, and we can assure you that they deliver a 5 star level service all day long, as most of our customers have stated. We are sorry to hear that you waited for 45 minutes, but we respectfully doubt about the duration of your waiting.
Secondly, as a hotel we follow a strict policy of not using umbrellas around the private pools, since that can lead to serious accidents, combined with the occasionally strong wind of the area.
Thirdly, we were sorry to hear that the architecture of the building does not follow your personal taste, but it is fully made with respect to the unique landscape, delivering an excellent result in terms of rooms view.
Fourthly, regarding the absence of spa amenities, we clearly state on our website that the official opening year of the spa is 2014.
Last but not least, with respect to the brand of our hotel and the level of facilities we provide, we must express the feeling that you present a non-realistic image of the hotel, as you refer to unstable examples of pricing and room numbering.

Kind Regards,
Guest experience department

We stayed as a couple for 2 days in this luxury hotel.
The price is too high for what it offers and unfortunately it left us not so good memories.

PLUS++
-Amazing view to the Caldera Volcano. (this view and only though cannot justify the price).
-Beautiful rooms.

MINUS--

-Breakfast was NOT served in the room!!(neither dinner). The receptionist's excuse was that the hotel stuff was sliping in the way to the rooms due to liquid surfaces. Not a honest excuse though, since we saw some breakfast being served to ''special''(?) customers...
-SPA was not functioning. Even though advertised to the website there was no service!!
-Restaurant prices too high for a very mediocre plate selection and taste.
-The room was not cleaned properly before our arrival.
-Price too high.

Its a new hotel that needs to be better!! Also the hotel name is not Apanema but Ambassador. Really dont know why it is liste in Tripadvisor as Apanema.

Dear Guest,

thank you for choosing Ambassador suites, during your stay in Santorini and thank you for finding the time to express your thoughts through Tripadvisor.
The problem that was caused in the breakfast during the days of your stay was temporary and lasted only for a couple of days. The extremely high humidity is a serious problem in the island, and it was not an excuse we used in order to cover some inconveniences.
It causes dangerous troubles, especially in the tunnel to the lower rooms, as it gets really slippery and cannot be walked by our waiters. There were no special treatments to some customers as our policy strictly regards all guests as special and equal.
Also, the prices are proportional to the cost of services, but we do understand that it lies in the subjective criteria of everyone , whether they consider them expensive or not.
Thank you once more for choosing Ambassador suites, and hope you will give us the chance to welcome you again in the future.

Kind Regards,
Guest experience department
