Description: Santorini... Akrotiri beach... By the sea, lies for many years a small, traditional cave, build by Uncle Nikolas with his own hands when he was young. Made with lots of love and passion, the cave offered a kind of shelter to himself and his little boat. Always by his side was his wife, Aunt Efstathia, whom her "magical" cuisine made everybody crazy. Unforgettable Spiros Marinatos, headmaster of the excavation project in the archaeological place in Akrotiri, suggested to Uncle Nicolas to alter this shelter in a small tavern, for the hungry workmen of the excavation, offering them traditional and delicious treats such as tomatoballs, fava, "chloro" cheese, spaghetti with sauce and plenty of fresh fish. Over the years, the cave grew fast known to the visitors of the island, since after their visit at the excavation they used to direct to the beach to taste Aunt Efstathias' popular snacks and the rich in taste and spice wine of Uncle Nicolas. In 1981, the "Cave of Nicolas" went on to their daughter, Margarita, who had learnt the art of cooking from Mr Marinatos wife. Her love for traditional cuisine and local products, that herself and her husband, Nicolas grow, gave her a Gourmet Prize, as the best traditional tavern for 2007-2008 in Santorini.

This restaurant has a fabulous location. It's directly on the water in a seaside cave. The food was absolutely delicious (fresh seafood was the best!). The cave itself was awesome, and walking around the area seeing the shops in the caves was a lot of fun. The service was adequate, the food spectacular. Not to miss!

First of all, since it is located by the sea, this restaurant has a perfect view. The recommendation could be the fact that locals eat here as well as fresh fish and seafood along with great staff and hospitality. Really nice!

This restaurant was almost full even at the end of October and most of the guests were locals which showed that it’s gods quality. We had several meals, some wine and 3 beers and the check was around 60€ for the 2 of us. You won’t be able to find such quality food and such big portions anywhere in Santorini.
All in all, good food, huge portions and professional staff. We can definitely recommend the filled calamari.

We were staying in Perissa and fancied a trip out. Caught the local bus down and found it really easily! Food was amazing and so fresh. Enjoyed the house red wine that was a perfect accompaniment to sardines and calamari. Great value for money and a fabulous couple of hours spent in a beautiful setting.
