Booked this after reading other reviews. Exceeded all expectations. The views are spectacular. The room we stayed in was beautiful: so clean, excellent fittings with a view over the caldera from one balcony and the other side of the island from the roof balcony. Cannot fault the swimming pool and restaurant and Samson and his staff are amazing and so helpful. You can have the delicious breakfast brought to your room. If you walk out over the shrub land at back of hotel, you can find the perfect spot to watch the sunset without all the crowds at the usual places. There are great restaurants on the nearby road to the lighthouse and down at Red Beach - a five minute drive away. Would recommend you hire a car, a small one as road up to hotel is very narrow in parts (bit scary at first but after a few times, you'll be driving it like a local), and it is so easy to explore the island by car. If you want the noise, crowds and nightlife of Oia or Thira then this is not the place for you. But if you want a truly romantic, stunning and unforgettable place, you won't find better.

We had the best time staying at Kalestesia Suites. It's in a quiet part of the island and away from the crowds and feels like a real getaway. Sampson and his team anticipated everything we needed and really made our stay feel effortless. The chef at the restaurant was fabulous and we had some of the best food at the hotel during our stay in Santorini. A car is a definite must as the hotel is not within walking distance to the village or any other amenities.

This resort is stunning. Set high above the sea in the southern portion of Santorini you have perfect views of the entire island and its surroundings. This sunset was amazing and at night the towns of Thira &Oia are like jewels. Samson was an amazing host going out of his way to please. The wait staff was equally professional. The pool area is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The drive to get here is not for the faint of heart as the road is tiny in spots, but well worth the effort. Rooms are new and very nice.

From the location, the resort, the management, the views and others... all were impeccable. Samson is such a sweet and well mannered person that will go out of his way to ensure that you'll have the best holiday ever. Will recommend to everyone. Ideal for those who want to have a relaxing and quite time in the environs of Santorini...

We have stayed at Kalestesia Suites at the end of August.

The hotel is constructed at an excellent point, on the top of a hill, and the view from the premises is amazing. You have in front of you the gulf of Santorini and the volcano, while on the other side you see also the unending sea!

There is enough space for the bar, the restaurant, the swimming pool and the reception, the swimming pool is satisfactory given the small size of the establishment, and the lighting during the evening is impressive.

The rooms are in general very well designed, although I believe that the architectural solution for the complex could have been better (now is too late). But, not all of them have a satisfactory view, so when booking be sure to have a room with a nice view to Caldera (the volcano). During our stay we faced some minor problems, mainly at the bathroom, which were solved. The service is very good.

Breakfast is not “buffet”, but it is very satisfactory with a large variety of food. Besides the usual food (basket of bread and croissants, butter, jam etc), the hotel offers juice, fruit salad, yoghourt, pie, and pastry. There is not bacon etc. but these are not part of a greek breakfast.

The main advantage of the place is calm and tranquility (although this depends also on the customers). For sure the perfect place to relax.

The main disadvantage of the hotel is that it is too far. It is almost at the very end of island (see on the map “Akrotiri”), and the road is uphill and at the last meters becomes a little difficult. As there is not public transport nearby and it is not possible to move to the center on foot, it is absolutely necessary to have or to rent a car. In the latter case problems are solved, but anyway it is a distance up to Fira, and this could be some 45 minutes.

And something on the price. The flexible rate for Deluxe Suite (the lower category, for 2 persons) at the end of August was 220 euros per day, which I find relatively high. Of course Santorini is expensive, but still…

Let’s conclude :

If you need a place to stay and to calm, to forget the watch, to lie on a chair in the open air in full tranquility, to see the light blue of the sky and the dark blue of the sea at your feet, the ships and the white houses, if you want to rest for some days in a magnificent scenery, to think and to dream, to forget the problems, this is undoubtedly the right place for you.

If however you need a place to stay, in order to be near the center of Santorini, near the bars, the restaurants, near the night life, to visit all places of the island, to have an intense way of living, then perhaps you need another hotel.
