We didn't stay at this hotel during our recent visit so cannot comment on the hotel itself.

However, we visited Akrotiri 3 x times over a period of 12 days and enjoyed drinks and snacks sitting on the terrace overlooking the sea.

Prices for drinks and snacks were much more reasonable than Fira & Oia

As others have mentioned, Santorini can be too popular and over-crowded for it's own good, and the Akrotiri Hotel is a wonderful contrast to this.
Every room has peace and quiet and everything you could need, every balcony a lovely view over the sea and comfortable chairs. The beds are comfortable, the breakfast very nice.
The place is peaceful and laid back with a great little bar for snacks (the spinach and feta pies are brilliant!) and lots of space to sit and enjoy the sea under the shade of the tamarind trees. Even the locals sit and enjoy it.

Best of all though is Mathios, the manager and, I think, the owner of the Hotel. He is friendly and helpful and very kind. We were stranded on Santorini when the ferries stopped running because of the recent hurricane and he was not only able to let us keep our room for longer but he also helped us find information and did what he could to help us., which was much appreciated.

This Hotel is an ocean of calm and a really lovely place, right next to the sea and right next to the archaeological site of Akrotiri.
You can get a bus into Fira every 30 mins for 2 euros so you don't even need to hire a car.
This is the only place to stay on the whole Island in my humble opinion!
Many thanks Mathios from Julie & Ron.

Room tip: All the rooms are absolutely lovely!

This is the dream Greek island hotel, a haven of peace in an island that can be too popular for its own good. The Akrotiri hotel is in the south, a family run small hotel in the Cycladic style, simple and beautiful, with a lovely view of the Aegean. Sunbeds, shaded terraces, thoughtful touches like a clothes airer on the terrace, all lift it into a much higher class than the price suggests. The location is right on the sea, with lapping waves on a tiny beach below the terraces. It's in the south of the island, which is quiet - even the small southern beaches aren't crazy. The hotel is right by a run of great tavernas on the seafront, and the taxi boats to the beaches stop right there. It is also by the bus stop that will take you to anywhere else you want to go for a few euros - and on Santorini a bus is almost a luxury coach with air-con. And you can walk to the great archaeological stie - 2 minutes up the road. The owner is the model of Greek hospitality. We really loved staying here.

Akrotiri Hotel is our hotel of course. After visiting the island 5 times, Akrotiri Hotel was booked 4 of those times. It's tucked away in a quiet area of the island, the furthest you can get way from crowded Oia. Ocean views with breakfast and quiet nights. Walk along the shore to a variety of restaurant choices - I highly recommend Dolphins for dinner where they let you choose your fresh fish and the style you want to eat it.

The family that runs this hotel treats us like family and that's why we will always return.

Room tip: All rooms face the ocean.

We were there from 2-13 July 2018 and it is one of the most beautiful places we ever been. The owner is one of the best host I have encountered. From our arrival until our departure he was very respectful and helping everybody that stayed at the hotel. When in Santorini, you dont have to look much. This is the place to be. I give Mathias and his hotel A++++++++ across the board. Once you stay you do not want to go because there is so many things to do. Prices are modest and the quality of the food is superb. Looking forward to go next year God willing. Highly recommended!!!
