I didn't stay the night here, only went to visit the restaurant and have a tour with my daughter. Quite pricey , in fact I would have only done the tour but I wanted to eat here as well. It is a great thing to experience and see how everything is made. A nice german girl took us around to show us the entire hotel. Neat experience, probably wouldn't eat again in the future because of the price

The hotel is beautiful. take their suits if you can , otherwise you will ended up in a very very small room with just snow around it. there will be not ice bed as you imagine just a very small snow room with ice bed that you can not even see if it is made by ice or not. so do take suits.
Their suits are designed all different. so depending on which room you are, you can get totally different feeling.
Also there is no rest in this hotel as you can not be staying in your room for relaxing.
You will be wearing winter clothes and be in arctic sleeping bag on ice when you go to sleep.
Very very uncomfortable...and cold in your face unless you close your sleeping bag completely.
you will be totally stressed about the situation that you have nowhere that you can relax.
pretty much you will not be going into the room until midnight then sleep right way in the sleeping bag on ice then they will wake you up at 7:30AM with hot berry juice.
stuff were extremely nice and helpful.
explained to us how it works and showed the facility around.
they have a ice bar . what a shame it is very beautiful but only opens for 30 mins each night lol
really wonder why such a short time.
but you may be could request to have a drink if they allow you to outside of the time window.
We also did snow sauna, it was good for experience but quite expensive. and ... cold lol
you can not relax in that sauna for 1 hour. (thats what you pay for ) it is just too cold too quickly.
they have a warm room you can rest which seats about 5 people.... so think of all the hotel guests trying to be there, yes you have nowhere to relax. some people stayed there all day and night, we did not get to relax and both of us were in such bad mood lol
At the end, i had no problem falling asleep in that ice hotel, what was so hard is that you have no where to relax and sit down like a regular hotel. you are mostly buying a bed to sleep on for 8 hours , not a room.
it was very good experience to see what it is and get a certificate at the end of your stay which is great. stuff are very helpful and friendly.
but not again for me... :)
PS. They have a cute reindeer there and you can feed him . it is very cool :)

Room Tip: Get a Suit room it is well worth it.

We arrived at the snow hotel at about 5:30pm, so it was perfect timing. We had enough time to check in, have the tour, find out the do's and don'ts and peruse the souvenir section before we had to go to dinner. Dinner was in a kota (log cabin) and was surprisingly nice. My kids did not like the selection, but the soup and salmon were divine (I don't particularly like either, so this was quite surprising). My kids ate bread and ginger biscuits (which were addictive).

I agree with the other reviews that the majority of the staff were not particularly geared towards customer satisfaction, but we had a really great guide who helped us and he was very knowledgeable. We never had particularly good service at dinner - although, no worse than at many other restaurants (I later found out that neither of the servers spoke English very well).

I am very proud to say that both my daughters (7- and 3-years-old) slept the whole night in the snow room. It was just as well because a tour group arrived later in the evening and took up all the space in the warm rooms - they never even bothered to try sleep in the snow rooms. This was a bit irritating because you had to get undressed and dressed with an audience - I just stripped down to my thermals in the snow room! I was worried about where we were going to go if my kids were having a problem in the night. Thankfully, they slept better than I did.

The ice sculptures were stunning and my kids had a wonderful time playing hide and seek as the snow dampens the sound! The ice bar, restaurant and chapel were absolutely amazing. The attention to detail was incredible and the lights were so beautiful! We had a family room which slept 5, so it was really big with lights in the base of the beds - very pretty.

The experience was great and I now have wonderful bragging rights because my family have stayed where few South Africans will ever go!

It was worth the experience... but just for one night!

If you want a great snow hotel experiance go to the snow hotel in kirkenes. It was a really great experience, the staff make it special and are really FRIENDLY. This one we didnt feel welcome. You get dropped at the front with no instruction, we saw everyone lining up so we just followed, they rush u through a check in.then u follow a lady with a soft voice around the hotel with a huge group so you dont hear a word she says then she points down the dark corridor where ur room is. Its so dark you can barely see the numbers. The room is tiny and you can barely see a thing. You then have to wait until 830 to eat dinner. Theres nothing to do in the 2.5 hours u wait. We were so bored. Theres no water available, you have to ask for a glass at reception everytime you want one. If you want a shower you have to book it. Went to have dinner and the staff dont say a word to you. So u just go sit down and they put the food infront of you. No hello, nothing. Werent even offered a drink. We walked out ,looking at them so we could say thankyou but they wouldnt look at us so we just left.it was a very awkward dinner. We went and got our sleeping bags mine stunk of body odour really bad so im assuming they dont ge t washed. Slept.woke up had breakfast and they drove us back. It was not a special experience at all.very boring and unwelcoming.

Definitely overpriced for the experience. We did not have a good experience at all. The staff was not friendly compared to people we met there. They barely listen to you when you have a question . The ice bar is fun but it closes at 10 p.m....The rooms are very basic and you pay for the experience and not for the comfort. You better not be claustrophobic otherwise you get into the dorms which are not so comfortable. Overall very disappointing for the price you pay.

We had our night in this hotel. Although the hotel itself is beautifully made, and sleeping in our ice-suite was surprizingly comfortable, there were two disappointments. One could be considered a minor nuisance; there are no showering facillities, just a toilet. You come - you sleep -and then you go away, before the day visitors arrive. The other is of more importance; We paid a price for which you can get a good room in any 5* hotel. Furthermore you had to pay for every extra. I find 10 euro's a drink and a 100 euro's to use the snow sauna for one hour a little bit to steep. It wasn't that special..

Room Tip: If you still want to go, get a suite. It will cost you another 80 euro's but the suites are much...

What a great experience but I must say one that I personally don't want to have again...
The evening was nice; tour of the premises, dinner in the kota and ice sauna. Though there was a bit too much extra time in between and not a lot to do.
Sleeping in the snow suite was terrible, I just felt claustrophobic the whole time. Stuffed in a sleeping bag, can't move and you have to keep you head inside the bag if you don't want to breath cold air the whole night. Didn't sleep much but I didn't want to go to the escape room to sleep in the bunk beds because we payed 330e for the suite...
Finally we got up before 6am and went to the room with the fireplace to wait for the breakfast to begin. Both of us got soar throats after the night and I also got a cold and had a slight fever for the rest of my vacation in Rovaniemi. After the stay in the snow hotel I red about the hot beverage that can be brought to the room in the morning. That sounded like a great idea, too bad we had no idea about when we stayed there and nobody told us about this service.

Breakfast wasn't good. It had all the basics, but little effort had been put into it to make it even a little bit more thrilling and worth the cost... The breakfast could easily be part of the experience but now it was the same food you get in every cheap hotel and motel around Finland.

I somehow got the feeling from the snow hotel that not all the staff had their hearts in their work. They were not rude but something was missing from their service attitude. I think the staff could easily make the experience even better and more exciting for the guests by serving them more personally and giving more information about the hotel and for example of the food in the kota. Now we just ate is silence... It is not a big hotel so I'm sure the staff could really take into account each and every customer more personally.

All in all, great experience but not for everybody. And way too expensive, the whole night (yeh, just one night) cost us 330e (room) + 70e (ice sauna for two) + 60e (dinner in kota for two) = 460e....
