I've been here many times, starting my first trip to Peruvian north beaches at 2003.
La Estación Pacasmayo is a well located hotel with average services in Pacasmayo main beach. Near fisherman pier (muelle de pescadores), reusing an old custom seaport, Pacasmayo is a tiny village growing under Peruvian construction boom, because Cementos Norte Pacasmayo is located a few blocks to the east.
Now, this hotel covers not only touristic demands for sea and surf lovers (you may enjoy long waves near 'Faro Pacasmayo'), and act as a meeting and resting place for engineers and businessman who visit Cementos Norte.
The hotel is simple, with a little touch of style. The facade uses the same elements as town old houses in Pacasmayo and northern village. And thats it.
Rooms are clean, with white colored walls using bricks as decorative elements.
Equipped with old TV sets with cable signal and mini-bar fridge, but not expect good quality or HD...
The hotel's best is location, so, open the windows and enjoy sea sounds... because only 4 rooms has seaside views (suites and balcony rooms).
La Estación has a very good restaurant, based on a young and expert chef. Local cousine, and international dishes are included, so, its not necessary to walk for food.
About beverages, in my humble opinion, hotel manager may look for better Pisco brands...
Same situation for white wine (for fish) or red ones.
From last visit, I noticed some changes in hotel admin. New personnel, new manager.. so we expect new services and quality. Probably it takes time to happen.
If you travel looking for sun and south American beaches, Pacasmayo is a good place to visit, not the place to stay for summer vacations, because sea changed, beach change (not sand now, many stones, or no place to stay many hours a day because tides) and population are growing with more interest in construction than resorts.

Great location! Just off the boulevard, with view of the ocean and steps away from the main square (in small towns thats where everything happens).

Pay extra for the "room with a view" is not a big difference in cash but it is worth it. We got to see fishermen early in the morning and people going to work and school with a brilliant sunrise. We where on the 4th floor this means we did not have the noice, only the view.

Rooms are a bit small but big enough to spend a couple of days with out bothering, bathroom was clean and had lots of hot water. Keep the window open to keep the room cool (a bit windy at night).

Service was wonderful, we arrived very late and they where fresh and up helping us, we even got down late for breakfast and still gave us the complementery continental.

The lobby has a nice checkerboard floor that leads to a lovely balcony that is worth spending some time there.

Would recomend this place to others.

The hotel has an elevator which is nice. It is extremely close to the beach. The restaurant serves a continental breakfast which is included in your lodging fee. It is strictly juice, coffee, and 2 pieces of bread, however. I ate lunch and dinner there, and both were pretty good quality. Prices were a bit high, but that isn't atypical of a hotel restaurant. Service in the restaurant, however, was one of the worst I have ever experienced in any country. After two days of it, I finally walked up to the waiter during a meal and asked if I could get some help. The restaurant does have two small tables on the patio which is nice.

The rooms were filthy. You could see dirt all over the floors and in corners. The bathroom was equally disgusting, about the order of what is typical for a poor gas station bathroom in the US. Within just a few minutes of walking around the room, the soles of my feet were solid black. The only positive about the room was cable TV, OUTSTANDING water pressure and water temperature in the shower, and the fact you can hear the ocean (when you aren't listening to your neighbors' breathing and the motorcycles going all night long outside). There is a large container of pure water in the lobby that you can use to refill your water bottle for free.

From what I heard from some of the other guests who didn't speak Spanish, it did not appear that many staff spoke English. Just be aware.

My last day there was particularly frustrating. There had been a planned city-wide electricity outage from 7 AM until 3 PM. The hotel did not bother to inform any of the guests this was occurring, and they did confirm to me that it was planned and expected. There was a marathon occurring the very next day of which they are a sponsor and which was starting just about 1-2 blocks from the hotel. I don't know if any participants didn't get a wakeup call. At least hot water still worked (gas).
