“Theodora's Amazing View House certainly lives up to its name.”
Reviewed May 28, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

It has always been a travel ambition to visit Hydra. We were not disappointed. However, staying at Theodora's Amazing View House made the trip even more special. The place is a bargain. The facilities are first class. The views are out of this world. I cannot imagine a better place to stay and enjoy Hydra.

“Views of old Greece”

There are few better views in Greece with vistas over the sea to the mountains on one side and an overview of Hydra and its port on the other. We spent most of our days switching from one vantage spot to another, the only decision being whether to sit in or out of the sun. The house has a strong sense of old Greece with family photos, furniture and ornaments throughout and the a/ced bedroom was just right. A very relaxing break.

“Roomy layout, charming decor, and oh! those views!”

Staying in this beautifully decorated, amazingly situated home is a real privilege. The views—from multiple terraces, a nearly 360-degree roof, and every single window—are breathtaking. You see the whole harbor and Hydra Town basin in one direction, the gulf and the mainland in the other, sunrise and sunset. That white Greek light moves around the house throughout the day. It’s a dream of a Greek island.

Inside, the house offers spacious rooms full (really FULL) of art nouveau furniture, family photos covering multiple generations, memorabilia, paintings, charming little lamps, and, in the sitting room, a large boulder. The small kitchen is crammed with mismatched dishes and random utensils. You will find everything you need. There is a good-sized refrigerator with a freezer and an ice tray. There are, blessedly, two bathrooms.

Yes, the house is up many steps—the price for the views, and well worth it—but steps aside it is a quick walk to cafes, restaurants, and shops. The donkeys that gather at the quai can take your luggage (and you) uphill and down. The water at the house is apparently not potable; you’ll be lugging bottled water up the hill.

The owners do not seem to rent on a large scale, so the instructions and procedures are kind of sketchy. You will be largely on your own. Nail down the details by email before your arrival.

If you are thinking of visiting Hydra, or wondering what island to choose for an extended stay, this house makes the decision easy. Grab it if you have a chance. Living there, even temporarily, is a marvelous experiences.

“Theodora's amazing view house ...is TRUE”

We spent an unforgettable orthodox Easter in the traditional island of Hydra, staying in this really amazing house. Being an architect my self I felt overwhelmed by this old traditional house, well retained and furnished. But above all, the personal touch given to the house by the owners (without the main stream fashion-magazine-must-decoration) made us feel as being home. The house is comfortably furnished to accommodate three people; but, the dinning-room, with mansions' aura, sits eight.!! The house is privileged located and both of its sides have magnificent views; the front terrace overlooks the town of Hydra; sitting at down or night on this terrace with the views of the lit town it is the reason that it'll make us to come back...un-be-lieva-ble.!! The other smaller balcony, exit from the dinning-sitting room, overlooks the open sea and the coast of Peloponnese. The town it is a path-with-stairs walk, only 5 min distant - if it weren't for the steps I would have given to this venue a 5 star mark. However keep in mind that stair/steps/pathways are typical for Hydra as well as for the most of the traditional islands in the Greek archipelago.
