Cotommatae is the family name of the owner, a 40-something lawyer who returned to the Hydra of his forefathers after some 20 years practicing in Athens. This small, former "mansion" is well-secluded form the bustle of the port, and yet is not even a 10 minute walk away. An impeccable restoration including many original 19th and early 20th photos of the owner's family adds to the timelessness of the place. A lovely hot/cold buffet breakfast is served on the rear terrace. Our room had a separate sitting room (with window) as well as a private bedroom (two windows, for cross breeze). We have stayed many times on Hyrda, in most of the higher-end places, and this is by far our favourite. Note that there is no swimming pool (rare on Hydra, except at Bratsera), but there is a sort-of plunge pool in a shaded area.
