Had the best grilled Dorado fish served with sprinkling of local olive oil and lemon. Charcoaled skin gave a distinct flavor to the juicy flesh. Home made stuffed grape leaves and zucchini fritters were like the one you never tasted. Go upstairs to an open terrace.

We've been there for a bussiness meeting and have been told that it has excellent food paired with a very good price range. We ordered kolokithokeftedes ( Which were very good except a little more spicy than expected), ntolmadakia (Which were also a bit more spicy and a bit overcooked which made that leave on the outside crunchy rather than soft), fried potatoes (very very very fresh and excellently coocked), vlita (excellent), grilled cheese (was huge, well cooked), sardines (I do not eat them but the plate was large) and some wine (not bottled). Everything was ok but not really the best I've eaten but still very good quality for the price we payed. The biggest problem was the wine. It wasn't wine but rather vinegar. You could only drink it after you dilute it with water or soda. This made me a tremendously bad impression. If you are a traditionnal Greek tavern YOU HAVE TO HAVE at least a medium quality wine. It destroyed all the taste from the foods and we had to substitute it with beer as the night went on. The service was slow and not up to par and they didn't even offer us desert which is a no go in Hydra where all taverns and restaurants offer one for free. Certainly a go to place but for the love of God do not order the wine.

ok, so we read all the great reviews, and were expecting to be blown away. that did not happen, the boiled vegetables should have had a gerber label on it, the dorado fish was good, but not worth the $125 (for the fish alone!). We were offended by the prices. The waitress told us it was the last fish, so we took it. Later, the table next to us ordered the same fish.... Cagey. they do not except credit cards, and our meal was over $200.... after talking with many localse, we found out that it's a mystery why this place is so popular with tourists... restaurant is ugly, food overpriced, staff very cagey.... there are better restaurants in Hydra... DO NOT GO TO THIS ONE!!!

Chistina manolis is the cute owner of this nice tavern in hydra. In my opinion is the best place where you can enjoy a very good food in a typical location. The terrace is so charming and service perfectly efficient. Very nice all the vegetables, the moussaka, the chicken and the fresh fish. You cannot miss the Gemista' (stuffed tomatoes and pepper), they are really wonderful with grapes inside!!

Four of us went to Taverna Gitoniko based on the TripAdvisor reviews. We felt that the reviews were overly generous. One of the specials that evening was ordered, then informed that they were no longer available. The vine leaves were very good, but the main courses we did receive were average, at best. The house wine we ordered was not good at all. Service was fine, and sitting on the roof top on a pleasant evening was nice.
