We have just returned from our trip to Hydra and we absolutely loved the service & location of this hotel. The breakfast included all sorts of homemade delicacies, really hard to resist. The staff was very friendly and they gave us valuable information on where to go, plus some insights on the island's history. The room was very clean, the view from the balcony was great as it overlooks the port and since we were traveling with our baby daughter, the staff were very eager to help us out with everything. Highly recommended for anyone who wants their vacation to feel like home

Absolutely wonderful service, amazing rooms, and great hosts. Sister owners Aggeliki and Basiliki are very kind and helpful. One of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. Top recommendation (tip: ask for a room with a balcony view).

Room Tip: All rooms have access to a shared balcony, but several of the rooms have their own top notch private...

We had a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the harbor. In the morning we would see the cats and donkeys assembling at the port to wait for supplies being bought to the island.

The breakfast was wonderful and the accommodations were top flight. We always had hot water for our shower. Hot water is a precious commodity in some places in Europe.

The island people are friendly and if you are looking for beautiful water to swim, delicious food to eat, peace and lots of cats, this the place for you.

Room Tip: If you want to see the harbor life stay in the front. These rooms have balconys to enjoy your morni...

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this Hotel. It is located on the port in Hydra and it is close to all restaurants and a short walk to the beach. The owners are wonderful people who provide a first class experience, from a great breakfast to advice as to where to eat and places to visit. Some of the rooms have a balcony where you can sit out and watch the action in the port. There are no motor vehicles allowed in Hydra, except for the garbage truck, Ambulance and another truck for building supplies. No scooters, cars! It's so quiet. You can get around by boat or by donkeys which are available at the port. The rooms are very well appointed and maintained.
If you are planning a trip to Greece, this is the place to visit. You can catch the flying dolphin or the flying cat from Piraeus which stops at Poros first then Hydra.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a balcony.

The best warm welcome: the whole family came out to greet us and show us around.
The best room: cosy with a private balcony.
The Best breakfasts: Vasseliki found out I liked loukoumades and made them specially. A choice of breads, pastries, yoghurt and various home made toppings, juice, coffee, bacon, eggs, omelette ..you won't need lunch
The best view: of all the harbour activity, big yachts and day to day island life.
The best service: As we sat on the balcony having out afternoon ouzo Aggeliki would bring us some cheese and salami On our last night she gave us a bottle of local wine to enjoy. They organised their own driver to collect us in Athens to go back to the airport.
The best location: close to shopping, cafes, bars and the ferry
The best restaurant advice: We tried a few in the week we were there!
The worst goodbye : we were all teary and we can't wait to get back there!
We miss these darlings already!

We follow Rick Steves' recommendations a lot and the Hotel Sophia was just beautiful. We had the room with the bed upstairs and it gave us ample space to enjoy the small but very well prepared room. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the village function. The staff wasvery friendly and offered great advice. The breakfast was unbelievable.

We spent the first 3 days of our Greek vacation on the island of Hydra. We stayed at the Hotel Sophia right on the harbour. Our hosts Angeliki, Basiliki and Nikias were welcoming, warm and very friendly. Our room was great and the location was perfect. They offered advice and suggestions about what we should do and where to go and taught us a few basic greek phrases. Breakfasts were tasty and satisfying. We highly recommend this place. They even insisted we take water and snacks for our ferry trip to Ermioni. You will not be disappointed.
