“Nicely renovated rooms and a pleasant stay”
Reviewed February 13, 2010

We stayed at Piteoussa last weekend with my husband. The room was very nice recently renovated in a very modern-minimal way. I was amazed with the amenities of the room, lcd tv, aircondition, cd-dvd player, organic toileteries....a really nice touch.
The breakfast was not included since the guest house doesn't provide breakfast, but that wasn't a matter since Piteoussa has a deal with a cafeteria at the harbour for a 20% discount. I definetely suggest the place! Thanks Gianni for all the advice and the hospitality! We loved Hydra!!

Having heard good reviews about this small hotel we booked it for 4 nights in sept. Booked by phone (in Greek), gave credit card details to confirm and chose, as a safeguard for us, to also confirm by email. All seemed okay until a day before we were due to arrive we received a phone call to say our first night was no longer available, Despite pleading (in Greek and English) no apology was forthcoming and a very irritating and dismissive conversation was had, resultign in us having to cancel the booking and stay with a friend for the first night. Very, very bad customer service which is not acceptable. We ended up satying near Piteoussa and witnessed the owner screaming at some children playing in the street (local and Albanian) which was inappropriate and and OTT response (not just us who thoguth this but locals too). Sorry but i couldn't recommend this place at all.

We stayed at the hotel for six nights in the beginning of june and we were very happy with our stay.

The hotel is situated two minutes from the harbour and therefor a bit more quiet than most other hotels. The rooms where basic but everything we needed were there such as a clean bathroom, air con, fridge. The hotel does not offer breakfast but it was nice eating breakfast at the veranda with food bought at local stores nearby. The hotel was good value for money.

Apart from the hotel we also really appreciated the friendly owner who also took time to help us out at the local hospital as the doctor did not speak english.

The island Hydra is very nice and felt genuine. We liked the beach Vlihos, five min away with boat, as well as the small cosy town and restaurants.

We would absolutely recommend both Hydra and Piteoussa Guest House.

Stayed in May 2009 for 3 nights in the superior room.
Loved the elevated B/R, the small garden coffee table setup, clean towels and bed done everyday. Adequate room for our stuff (greeks carry a lot of it..). Hooked up my i pod to the mini stereo system (had an rca cable with me - haha..) At walking distance from the harbour, we had great breakfasts at Isalos Cafe (look up Stelios-thanks Stelios) discounted 20% - compliments of Piteoussa.
I would prefer a little more privacy for the garden coffee table - but thats just me!
Dinner at Omilos Highly recommended, and Paradosiakon taverna as well.
Great Value 5/5
Cleanliness 3/5 - needs some detailing but good!
Overall 4/5 - Great Stay - Thanks Giannis

Stayed here recently for 5 nights, which I had booked in advance. Our room was in Piteoussa but on the second floor at the rear, with a shared terrace at the side (we mostly had this to ourselves) which overlooked a small sports ground. The sports ground was only used a couple of times when we were there and never late as it has no lighting, therefore no problem with noise.

Room was very nice, bright and clean, and had two twin beds, tv, dvd, fridge and safe. Breakfast wasn't provided, but that wasn't a problem as we stocked up on juice, yogurts and wine etc and stored them in the fridge. Yotta who runs the guesthouse, was very very friendly and lent us plates, glasses etc.

The bathroom was small, shower was ok, though the shower curtain contraption was horrible and a real pain in the backside. On the plus side the Korres complimentary toiletries were just lush!

Would happily stay there again.

We found this place from Rough Guide book and made the booking.
When we got there, we were offered options of two types of rooms, one is for 50.00 euro in the proper Piteoussa guest house, with the rooms just like those shown on their website. In the end we opted for the cheaper one at 40.00 euro in the building next door, co-managed by Piteoussa, named Theodoros. The room is simpler -- smaller, simple bedding and smaller bathroom. However it's very clean. And the big plus is the balcony. We stayed in room 3, and it's got a huge balcony, where you can see the houses nearby and just a tip of the sea. This is the biggest reason we chose this cheaper room -- all rooms in Piteoussa are on the ground floors so there's no view.
The place is quite easy to find, just 2 minutes walk from the sea front, but it's in a very quiet neighbourhood. In the evening all we could hear was the dog barkings.
The only thing I don't like the room was the shower. Something wrong with the shower head and it wasn't pleasant showers. Hope by the time you read this they've fixed it! :p
Overall, it's a okay place. After all, you spend most of the time outdoor when you're on Hydra!!!
