Having just landed from a thompsons holiday to the Orquidea I had to put a review on.
What a fab time we have had. I was a bit dubious after reading some reviews but these were all put to rest after walking through the door.
I never seen a hotel that cleans so much. There was always cleaners about. Any food dropped in the buffet bar was cleaned before you'd even realised.
As for cleanliness in the room, yes there was a small piece of sealant on the bath that was black but it was not dirty. Our room was fab and linen was changed 3 times during the week.
The staff ! Well what can I say. The hotel staff were pleasant and always helpful and as for Thompsons staff I can't praise them enough.
Silly Milly and Rossy Essex need a medal and lots of praise. They were fab and as it's the last week of 'British' week, were running the main entertainment by themselves. They were brilliant and kids and adults couldn't help but join in with them.
'Big Daddy' was fab too as well as the kids club staff i.e. Ice Gem, Barney Becks etc
The food was fab. The pool amazing.
In fact it's so good I'm about to book again for next year. X

Just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel got to say all the staff from receptionist bar staff and cleaners were so friendly and polite. The rooms are spotless and a great size now we come to the best bit the Thomson staff even we didn't have much to do with the children's reps they all seemed polite enough but the main attraction is the wonderful delightful Sillie Millie and Rossy Essex if Thomson could bottle there energy and enthusiasm they would make a fortune also not forgetting Big Daddy if you had an Aqua fit instructor like him at home we would all be a size 0'the whole 3 of them work tirelessly from morning to late at night to keep guest of all ages entertained. I would definitely give this hotel a big fat 10/10
The food in all restaurants was by far the best we've has on other all inclusive hotels and a really nice touch is the children's area.
The only down side is we all expect to pay for treatments in the spa but no spa usage is included in with the holiday cost so you even have to pay for the jacuzzi and steam rooms.

Room Tip: Don't be put of by the poor reviews these people must be used to the Savoy

Went here at the end of September 2013 with four adults and a two year old. First of all we had a little to do with the coach driver who broke our push chair so weren't in the greatest of moods when we got into the hotel! Our moods were quickly lifted by a very friendly and helpful chap on reception.
The rooms we got we joining rooms and both of them were a great size with a phenomenal view (see our pictures), a fridge, TV and very comfy beds!
The Thompson reps in the morning Carrick, Gemma and Tash sorted out our push chair situation super quick and they really were great about it. The Food was good, varied and great for our child and the drinks were free flowing and good measures ;).
All the pools are great no complaints what so ever about them and they have life guards on duty all day every day!
What really made our though holiday was the Entertainment Team, Rossy Essex, Silly Millie, Aston Powers and of corse Big Daddy are AMAZING at what they do and they're great people! They got everyone involved in everything and really made our holiday special!
Thompson The Dog is awesome too :) his song is great!! "You can be anything ya like"!!
Overall if you have children and like to have a good time this is definitely a good choice!

One more thing... SAMBAAAA!! ;)

Room Tip: No need to pay for a sea view as 90% of the rooms have one!

This is a great hotel for a family holiday. There's lots for children to do in a safe setting, although the area around the pools was tiled and became very slippery during the day. There is, however, a lack of shade available around the pools. A few more parasols would be welcome during the height of summer. Be prepared to get up early if you want a sunbed around the pool with a parasol!
My big tip if you are planning a stay at The Orquidea is DON'T pay extra for a room with a sea view. Just about every room has a view of the sea. We got stung on this and it's a unnecessary extra that can be avoided.
Staff were always friendly and attentive.
The quality and choice of food available was excellent. The restaurant does get very busy at times and can become chaotic with people wandering about in all directions with plates of hot food.
Overall : definitely a hotel aimed at families.

Room Tip: Unless you are very unlucky you will get a sea view from your balcony. I would strongly advise agai...

We've just come back from a two week holiday at The Hotel Orquidea in Gran Canaria with Thomson Holidays.
The hotel is clean and an inviting 4 star hotel, with a fantastic pool area that caters for young children very well. The brochure that we had didn't show the great children's slides and tipping water barrel which was a favourite for our three year old daughter and her holiday friends.
The food on offer was of an excellent quality and variety, right down to gluten free options.
The variety of dishes at the all you can eat buffet type restaurants was eye opening, my wife fell in love with the chocolate fountain, which was available every night!!
The hotel staff were polite, friendly and professional.
The Thomson reps were fantastic, particularly the entertainments team, who managed to immediately capture the kids imaginations as well as keeping the adults amused too!
Their fun activities and bubbly manner helped make our daughter's holiday a special memory for her.
Ross "Rossy Essex" Sexton was an outstanding Thomson entertainments rep who's genuine positive energy, enthusiasm and experience beyond his years in everything he did on and off stage was a delight to see.
If you're looking for a beach holiday then look elsewhere, but if you want a fun family holiday by the pool, with great family entertainment then this Thomson hotel comes with a 5 star recommendation.

Room Tip: If you have young children my advice would be to book a family room, this gives you another room to...

On arrival the hotel really does look like a 4* the staff are very accommodating very friendly and really does put a smile on your face when being greeted, but the rooms really do need to be touched up
- bathroom door didn't close
- wardrobe door wouldn't slid open &when it did it came off the runner
- enamel chipped off the bath
- rusted towel rail
- scuffed walls
- Internet €20 for 5 days on 1 device is a bit cheeky ( go to any shopping centre it's free there)
If looking for a 4* room you'd still be looking. ..

On the other hand I can't stress enough about the staff from the chef to the entertainment was 5*
-The food had everything you could want and more
-the entainers were on the go all day every day and always had a smile on their faces.
-Rossy essexs had so much energy you'd be tired from watching him let alone do what he was doing and always had time for anybody who talked to him
-silly milly was a delight she really gave it her all
-big daddy was loved by all from the ages of 1 to 101
They all were on the go from 11:30 in the morning to 11:30 at night
The food went from 7 in the morning till 9 at night
The alcohol drinks flowed from 10 in the morning till 11:45 at night

It really is an English (about 90%) family resort so if you have a family I would recommend this place but if your looking for less children go somewhere else

Just come back form this resort with my hubby. Must say, it is more of a family resort, however we still found it relaxing. It has good food, the staff are welcoming and polite, room is basic but clean and comfortable. It certainly worth going to see two of the entertainment staff -Silly Milly and big daddy dance around energetically- they were troopers and put a smile on our faces. All the Thompson staff did a great job and should be proud of how they keep smiling and entertaining the hoards.

The only down side to the hotel is that if you like a large beach with golden sands, Bahilia Feliz is not the place, Morgan is far better - this is a bus journey though through the mountains and for two persons about 17 euros return it is worth it.

Room Tip: We were on the 10th floor and got an excellent view, however all the hotel rooms faced the sea, so i...
