do not stay here if your first language is English during the winter months was not told that even though this hotel is not a family resorts during the winter months it is for all other nationalities booked in at the hotel! all activities aimed for the other guests staying at the hotel... kids clubs for everyone but the English... entertainment 2 nights out of the 7 in English
the hotel is big not only do the guests staying in the hotel get to use the facilities but also the guests staying in the self catering apartments and villas surrounding the hotel.... English do not get free wifi while other other guests that book with tiu do!
cannot fault the food, cleanliness and facilities. Rooms could do with modernising etc.. im sure this is a lovely hotel in the summer BUT should not be a thomson winter hotel hotspot as English are the minority :-( we will not be returning

Room Tip: we stayed on the second floor for a better view of sea pick a higher room

Booked for some winter sun with our 18month old daughter and this resort worked very well for our needs. It has large grounds, 3 pools and a direct beach front. We went all-inclusive and that was fine mostly - occasionally the food in the buffet restaurant got a bit 'boring' but other than that the deal works well. Breakfast was excellent and there are plenty of high chairs for 'young diners'. The hotel is popular in the winter with Swedes and other Scandinavians so all animation and entertainment was in Swedish and the kids club was also geared towards Scandinavians with special cartoon characters like 'Bamse' which meant nothing to us. Luckily our girl is too young and we did not need the kids club but had we been hoping to put her in then we would have been very disappointed. We booked it via Thomson and there should really be a clear message when you book that you will essentially be in amongst 98% Scandinavians. As said, for us it was fine and we actually enjoyed the evening entertainment which was very professional. Typical for resorts the doors are thin in the rooms and we heard 'loud' guests shouting in the corridors early in the morning and late at night - so sound insulation is not too great and your balcony looks out over the bar area terrace. Few gripes but actually it is a nice resort within a self contained area with shops, restaurants all attached to the resort.

We went there in June 2012 and it was very lovely. They had nice food, a lots of attractions for children. Swimming pools were nice and heated. Staff was helpful and friendly. A bit bad design to have stairs in all rooms - our 12 months daughter, who just learned how to walk wanted to climb them, so we had to block with the table.

Just back from Orquidea Hotel. Read all the reviews and now have a few of my own.
Yes this is a hotel for families and in the summer months it is full to capacity with Brits and from November to February the Scandanavians are the main holidaymakers.
The rooms, food, drink and hotel amenities are very good. Staff really friendly and helpful. We found that the entertainment was geared to the scandanavians and in particular to the children. All entertainmet ended at 9.30pm with the exception of Saturday when there was none. Saturday being the 'change over' day which resulted in every chair and sofa being occupied by guests who were not leaving the hotel till about 10pm They even slept on chairs and sofas in the hallways outside the bedrooms.
All this aside we had a really lovely time but if you dont want to be around children then don't book a family resort hotel

food is very well presented at times could be warmer but a there is a microwave oven if you need it .lots of children who where where well behaved whether they where scandanavian or british [good parenting] beach is not great all the rooms are lovely if you paid over 500 pounds sterling hard lines the going rate was between 400 and 450£. drinks where good value but ask to look at the drinks menu to find out what you can get if your all inclusive [bailleys spanish style plus others ]pepe will keep you right lovely little square outside hotel with eating places but it takes 15 minutes to walk around all in all very good all inclusive speaking to many residents they all state they could not do 2 weeks all inclusive due to the guaranted weight increase due to the high standard of the food

Room Tip: all rooms appear over the pool area higher the room better the view over the sea possible stating...

Well firstly me and my partner who are in our twenties and our 7 year old stayed here this time last year but this year was even better, flight with Thomson was on time and transfers was 15 mins :) then very speedy check in and we stayed on the 7th floor with a sea view which is a must as lovely to Loki at when your chilling with a beer, also food every day was so good so much to choose from and a chef that looked like Marlon from emerdale was brilliant and gave us big portions from the carvery meats, everwhere was clean and the maid came every day, weather was 25 every day played in the pools swam in the sea took a trip to playa del ingles, drinks were strong!!! But never qued for longer than 3 mins, also it's lovely at night to sit on the patio near the bar with the little gas lights, I know English is the minority here but who cares, you go on holiday to have your own fun and the Scandinavians were nice, so over all a fab fab holiday was very sad to leave, ignore the bad reviews !!!!!!!!

I can't say anything bad about the hotel itself, but the visitors perhaps. Yes, alot of children, no peace and quiet, just screaming kids and their stressed parents. BUT if you can look past that (which I could after a couple of days after getting used to it) I liked this place very much.
- Did not see a single cockroach, which was a big plus since I hate them.
- View from the balcony was great. Was at 8th floor.
- Breakfast selection was awesome. You could have a different looking plate every day for weeks, I think.
- Staff was very friendly, you could not go past the maid without her saying a heartly hola.
- Beds really comfy.

The stuff to whine about is not so important but let's write it here anyway:
- REALLY strange smell in the lobby. It was like incense or something. Disliked it very much. Might be only now at christmas time though, since I don't remember it from when I was there in 2005.
- Bahia Feliz is really really windy. Easy to catch a cold, so if you're off for some walking in the beach make sure you have a jacket or something with you.
- Flies everywhere. They land on you and won't leave if you blow at them, since they're used to the strong wind, haha.
- Shops around here... Well. Some better and some not so good. Most of them have the same stuff. Best shop for clothes was one owned by some chinese people, very friendly and liked the stuff in there. Note on cosmetics: be sure not to forget anything back home. I spent days looking for regular hair pins and couldn't find them at any shop. Untill one day. The makeup shelves were really dirty and foundations etc. looked like they had gone old a long time ago. Bacteria warning.
- Some restaurants. Best were the chinese ones, and the cheapest too. So them I recommend. But some of the spanish ones, their owners just wouldn't let you walk by, they tried to pull you in and sit you in a table without asking anything and almost got mad if you didn't come. Also the spanish restaurants were much more expensive than the chinese ones.

I think it's a good place, especially for kids. Many swedes. Perhaps not the place for you if you're looking for good nights sleep and quietness. And definetly not for a romantic kinda holiday, I mean really romantic. Kids and romantic doesn't fit in the same sentence

Room Tip: Get a room from as high as possible, less cockroaches and better view to the sea, get premium or des...
