“Bev... Fantastic holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2014

Just returned from this hotel having stayed for 11 nights... What can I say.. Absolutely fantastic. Ignore all the negative remarks about this hotel we could not find any fault whatsoever. Eva and dimitri are the perfect hosts. Eva runs the hotel to very high standards and nothing was ever too much trouble. She would plan our sight seeing trips daily and sent us to some amazing places. Dimitri runs the restaurant and seems to get a few bad reviews but let me say we found him to be a very interesting and polite man. He is very proud of his restaurant and all he wants is for you to enjoy his food which we definitely did it was amazing.
Rooms were quite basic but very clean. It is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in and would definitely stay here again.

Wow! Just returned from a wonderful holiday at this hotel and would go back in a flash. So glad I trusted my instincts and believed the good reviews and not the negative ones.
The hotel is small and friendly and everyone goes out of their way to make it enjoyable for you. It is clean and well maintained with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The pool is small but never overcrowded and is overlooked by the friendly pool bar, which is open until the early hours for those that want it. The taverna-restaurant is only a five minute walk away and serves local dishes in more than ample servings. When we cleared our plates Dimitris insisted on bringing us more and everything was delicious. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and remembered you and the views of the sunset over the sea were spectacular.
I could go on forever about this holiday but you can ask questions if you need to know any more. All I will say is: ignore the few bad reviews, as I did, and go for it! I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Thank you Dimitris, Eva and everyone else for our wonderful holiday and hope to see you all again soon!

Just returned from a lovely week spent at Thalassi hotel. We chose this hotel after reading the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, and we weren't let down.

Run by the husband and wife duo of Eva and Dimitris, the hotel consists of 41 apartments, so the feeling is very intimate. A flight delay meant we didn't arrive until almost 1am, but Eva was pleasant as she welcomed us to our rooms. There is nothing fancy about the rooms, but on a holiday where most of your time is spent outside, who really needs too much luxury inside the room?

Our apartment for four consisted of twin beds in the main room (plus a sofa bed) and a double bed in the bedroom, which led onto a balcony overlooking the pool. The room also contained a fridge, which was useful for keeping bottles of water cool. My only criticism of the bathroom was that the bath is rather small, and doesn't have a fixture to attach the shower head to the wall, making a wash slightly awkward! Cleaners came around every day to tidy the room and kept us supplied with towels and clean sheets. Unfortunately, air con came at an additional cost of €5 a day but it is well worth it to keep the room cool.

The hotel had a very intimate, family feeling, which made the stay very relaxing. The small size of the complex really allows the staff to get to know you and provide you with an excellent service that won't be matched at a larger hotel. There were plenty of sun beds for all of the guests - the pool never seemed too busy. There is also a small play area for kids, free wifi (which was a bit temperamental) and computers available to use.

By far what stood out about the trip, for me anyway, was the food! We stayed on an all inclusive basis, but it wasn't your typical buffet style offering. While breakfast is served at the hotel and offered a range of breads, cereals, yoghurt, fruit and pastries; lunch and dinner are provided at the beach bar/taverna, a 5 minute walk from the hotel, overlooking the sea. What a lovely place it was. Each mealtime we were taken to our table by the extremely friendly Dimitris, who clearly loves what he does and wants everyone to have a great time. No wristband needed, the staff will remember you within a day. The attention to going the extra mile was brilliant - after a couple of days Dimitris noticed we liked to play cards, so moved us onto a round table to make playing easier. Just one of the little things that made things perfect. Although the private beach was accessible to the public, sun beds were available for exclusive use of hotel guests on the balcony - a much welcomed facility!

Back to the food - there was so much of it! Each meal we would be provided with a basket of bread and varying salads to start, along with various greek delicacies in the evening - vine leaves, briam, tzatziki, little cheese pies, stuffed tomatoes and peppers - and these were just to start! Then, for the main course you would be offered two or three choices of main, which varied throughout the week. I think I only had the same meal twice once, and only because I liked it so much the first time! Souvlaki, moussaka, kleftiki, bifteki, stifado - this was a true greek experience. The pizza was also some of the best I've ever tasted!

Vegetarians were also catered for excellently, despite Dimitris' teasing that they should try the lamb! It is also important to note that all of the meat and produce is locally sourced, with much of it grown on Dimitris' farm - his olive oil is the best and a perfect accompaniment to every meal! He will always offer you more food if you are still hungry, and will often bring you over an extra plate without you even asking! Dessert was by far the smallest course, merely provided to give you a nice sweet end to the meal. The ice cream was lovely, as were the giant watermelons!

In terms of drinks, all inclusive drinks were provided from 10am til 10pm, consisting of beer, wine, brandy, ouzo, raki, and soft drinks. Spirits were poured VERY liberally. All drinks were available at the pool bar and at the taverna. The bar staff and waiters - Eva and Dimitris' son Anthony, Vassili, Mikali plus all the others, were all so so friendly. The taverna had entertainment several nights a week: a duo playing acoustic covers and traditional greek songs on a Sunday night, a magician on a Tuesday night, and Greek night, which we unfortunately missed, on a Wednesday. Dimitris promised us traditional plate smashing had we been there! To top it off, the sunset view over the sea from the beach bar was just beautiful.

I could go on for even longer about the great time we had, but I have to wind it up somewhere. The time we had was pretty much perfect, and we're already missing the Thalassi family. A week of sun, swimming, relaxation, good food and drink, for a great price. What more could you want??? Thank you Eva and Dimitris, and we hope to see you soon :)

We went all inclusive for one week and never before have we received such hospitality and courtesy whilst on a holiday. Owners Dimitri and Eva along with their son Anthony and all the staff were brilliant. Everyone seemed to have an enthusiasm to make our stay totally relaxed and catered for in every way.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and serviced every day (I would recommend paying the little extra for the air con to make those hot sticky nights more bearable) The pool and patio area is meticulously maintained offering a good selection of refreshments from the bar and plenty of sunbeds and parasols for you sun worshippers.
The food was always fresh and excellent (a large buffet selection for breakfast and three courses at each lunch and dinner) However, if you're not prepared to 'eat Greek' at the restaurant for your duration, it's probably not the place for you. Saying that, we were very grateful that Dimitri did ensure the children had meals that were more suited to their taste but don't expect any fish fingers etc. Neither can you fault the quick and friendly service of the chefs and waiters who work very hard there.
The small private beach is nice and clean and not crowded at all with clear, warm and reasonably shallow water. Loungers and Parasols are also available for a very small daily hire fee.
Over all we cannot rate the Thalassi Hotel and all the people there high enough, we hope to return again before long. Lola and family

Stayed for two weeks in July, we took a last minute break and having stayed at much larger hotels in Greece and also in Rethymon and Hania, found that this hotel was far superior. The attention given to us by Eva and Dimitris was far more than received at any other hotel we have stayed in On remarking that I can not eat tomatoes to Dimitris at their excellent taverna he pulled out all the stops to ensure that our meals were tailored to our needs and the quality, quantity and variety was excellent. From our late arrival to our late departure Eva always made us welcome and nothing was to much trouble. Both of them, Anthony and all the staff were excellent and made our holiday a great experience. We are both looking forward to a return visit

Overall, this is a quiet and lovely place to stay. Our rooms were great, the pool area, although quite small was great, and on the whole, the food was great too (we were all inclusive). But sadly, our holiday was slightly marred by the attitude of the restaurant owner. He swung from being the perfect host to being very rude. He was a 'my way or the highway' sort of man. We gathered it was directed at us because we didn't want to attend the evening entertainment; which left us asking, whose holiday is this? Not everyone wants to do everything that is on offer; we go on holiday to relax and choose how we spend the limited time we have when we're away. We also overheard him being rude to other diners on occasion. The food was good, but after about three days, the same things are appearing on your menu options every day, and if you're not a red meat fan, or even a meat or fish fan at all, then you may struggle (vegetarians, bear this in mind). Generally, we had a lovely week, but a bit more politeness and respect for your customers, always bearing in mind they are the customer and are already paying to stay and eat in your establishment, will go a long way.
