just returned from two weeks all inclusive at the thalassi beach hotel.Eva and Dimitri could not have been more friendly and helpful.Mark at the resaurant was very attentive and could remember the drinks order after the first evening. The food was cooked fresh as you ordered and we were offered a choice if it was something anyone did not like.(not your usual inclusive menu). The rooms were clean and had plenty of room. Yes there was a walk to the beach/resaurant but it was easy and quick (even in the dark) and we certainly did not feel frightened in any way. So yes I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing holiday with excitment up the road. Thanks to all of you for a very enjoyable holiday.

We stayed at the Thalassi from 29 Sept to 6 Oct on half board basis. Our apartment which overlooked the pool was spacious and clean, and the pool was lovely and clean.

Both Eva and Dimitri were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. When we decided we would like to hire bikes one morning Eva arranged if for us and had the bikes delivered to the hotel within half an hour.

There was a good selection for breakfast: I particularly enjoyed the yoghurt with honey followed by the fresh bread. The evening meals were served at the beachside restaurant with Dimitri describing the meals and how they were cooked. Every meal was delicious: the service from Dimitri, Mark and the young girl efficient and friendly.

As one review mentioned, Stavromenos is not a resort as such but this suited us. The buses were frequent if we wanted to go to Rethymnon or elsewhere. This is the most relaxing holiday we have had for years, and we would not hesitate to go back and stay there again.

this is ideal for a relaxing and easy going break. The over all experience would suit families or couple because the hotel will adapt all. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and the setting was very enjoyable. The hotel was very clean and tidy. The breakfast was adequate for the start of the day which was continental. However lunch and dinner were amazing and just like eating out at any top restaurant. We were well looked after and didnt leave with empty stomachs!!! We would like to thank Eva and Dimitri for a wonderful experience and will definitly be back!!! x

What can i say, we can fault nothing about our stay apart from the rain on arrival and who can control that?! Eva and Dimitri make you so welcome at their charming hotel its as if you have known them forever! nothing is too much trouble, lifts to and from the restaurant, tours of their vast estate and local monastery. The short walk to the beach front restaurant just adds to your appetite for the fabulous cuisine on offer every night and although lifts were always available back to the hotel the walk was useful to let your dinner go down!! Over the 7 days spent there i'm sure we tried every greek dish available! there was so much choice and Dimitri always at hand to recommend local dishes we may like to try. The hotel is clean and spotless and extremely upmarket, not your usual basic greek accommodation. and they have the lovely Mark, english handyman/waiter who is part of this happy family business. We are already booking for next year and plan to take our parents with us as this hotel caters for all ages and im sure they will fall in love with its charm as we have. Thank you so much for a fabulous week Eva and Dimitri; just what we needed before the winter sets in here in England!!

We have just returned from 2 weeks all inclusive holiday with Eva and Dimitris at Thalassi. You could not have better hosts. They have gone out of their way to make our holiday as special as it was.
The tea and coffee at breakfast could be improved yes but there was nothing wrong with the rest of the food provided for breakfast. It was what you would expect. There was plenty to choose from.
The food at the restaurant was excellent and the cook and all of the staff were first class. Everyone made you welcome. Eva and Dimitris have have every right to be proud of their first rate service.
We went on holiday to recharge our batteries after a very trying year and everyone at the Thalassi hotel has helped to do that. My husband wanted to bring the cook and the waitress home with him. She and Mark, the witer, make a great team.I think they can continue to do a great job for everyone else there. We have made friends there and will return. Dimitis went out of his way also for us and took us in his car to visit a local monastery to take part in the service.
This is a great place for a friendly, relaxing holiday. Well done Dimitris and Eva. Missing you lots-
Bad boy and Pat

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quiet. Work with the hotelier. There are steps.

My wife and have recently returned from a week’s half-board stay at the Thalassi hotel and it was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable breaks we have had. With Eva running the hotel/apartments (our room was both clean and spacious), and Dimitri the beach-front taverna (where the evening meals are taken) you would struggle to find a more attentive couple whose only concern is that everything is OK for you. The pride that Dimitri has of his island and culture and the superb food served in his taverna shines through, and he is more than happy to share the details of recipes and preparation of the authentic Cretan dishes served.

Yes, the niggles cited of the breakfast drinks and absence of draught beer at the pool bar are real (but could be easily remedied), but the genuine warmth and hospitality of Eva and Dimitri and their staff pale these into insignificance. With the taverna overlooking the beach there is ready day-time access to drinks and snacks, free sun beds, and a sunset view for your evening meal each night.

Stavromenos is not really a resort as such, more a small and quiet village (make sure to visit the bakery!), but with Rethymnon just a short and inexpensive bus ride away (and a frequent 24-hour service too so no getting stranded!) this really wasn’t a problem for us. The old town is particularly appealing and try to see it both day-time and at night.

So if you want a quiet relaxing break with ready access to a bit more “buzz” when you want it, the Thalassi Hotel may be for you. We certainly plan on going back…!

Everyone raves how friendly this hotel is, we found the friendliness very, very thin. On all inclusive you have to walk over half a kilometre to the restaurant, once there the lunchtime choice is, omelette and chips, or bacon egg, beans and chips, or pizza and chips, or spagbol, this is the same choice for every day, we ate lunch there the first 3 days only, due to the lack of choice, is this the fine Greek cuisine I read in the reviews before booking? Evening meals include walking back through a tunnel under the main coastal road in complete darkness (no lighting at all) or trying to cross the main coastal road, I felt very sorry for 3 all lady couples that were worried every night trying to cross the road (as we did) because they were scared of the pitch black tunnel, (has anyone from Olympic been out there?)
You are served your evening meal, this time with no choice, if you dare to ask for an alternative then your host tends to get upset, I was given Carbonara, not liking pasta I asked for an alternative and was offered lasagne (???) he then offered me hamburger! Questioning whether this was an acceptable evening meal resulted in him shouting at me that this was not A la Carte and I should take one of them. From this day on he did his best to ignore both me and my wife and he and his wife were rude to us for the rest of the holiday. The food all week was not great with very simple meals and cold vegetables.
The all inclusive drinks finish at 10pm, and do not include vodka, baccardi or gin (not even cheaper local ones) after 10pm you can buy drinks if you wish!!
We felt the hotel owners were all about profit, I have no problem with business's making money but I do like to feel that I am getting something close to value for money.
Requesting internet access on day 2 I was informed there was a daily charge but as there was only one password and it didn't change I would have to pay up to our departure date as we may use it again later in the week!
