“Great holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2012

Not sure what people can moan about. We have just returned from a four night break and had a great time. Rooms very clean and just the right size. All the meals gave you a good choice and there was plenty of it. We always got a sunbed and there was a lifeguard on duty who did regular pool checks which was reassuring to see. Ok the hotel is on a steep hill but this meant we could eat and drink loads and burn it off walking! There was also a bus to the beach if you didn't want to walk. The entertainment was a little bit poor but we were not there for that.
If you are looking forward to a quiet relaxing holiday without kids then this is the place to go. Would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We were lucky and a sea view on the top floor

Was here for a week in early August cannot fault the place friendly staff food and drinks good.
1 loud English family ruined the atmosphere but cannot blame the hotel for that. Most guests were spanish french , german etc all very nice and their kids had manners if you don't like the hillside location or steps you may not like this hotel but then you get a wonderful view over the resort so I think it's worth it . Best thing I can say is that I would stay again at this hotel and recommend it to you.

Room Tip: Ask for the sea view

Fine hotel in reasonable distance to Palma (about 30 min. to center with bus). We had great view over both sea and mountains from our room. Breakfast wasn't that great. Sounds travel easily between rooms, but don't let it scare you away, I am very sensitive to noise and it didn't bother me. Quiet at night. The hotel is a short busride from Castel Belver, which is worth a visit. Especially the walk up the hill to the castel is beautiful.
By the way - a restaurant in the nearby area of the hotel called Ken's, is really good!

We have just come back from a 3 night short break and have had a great time, rooms were modern, clean and comfortable, pool area clean with great views, Paco in the main bar was very friendly and helpful, the bar man at the pool bar could do with a few lessons in customer service, but he did manage a smile before we left. Food was fine, just what you would expect from an all inclusive, would recommend and would definately go back again.

Room Tip: Room 326 was a good size with a fantastic view.

We've stayed here before, and would happily come again.
Location isn't bad, it's a good 5 minute walk to the sea front - where there's a nice marina and bar - and longer to walk back up the hill. Buses are frequent and cheap, 1.5 Euro for any journey, I think. Numbers 3 & 46 stop right outside the hotel.
We were happy with the meals on our last stay 4 years ago, but they're far better now, unless you want pie, chips and gravy, and full English fry-ups every day. The meals suit the climate - lots of very varied salads, fish, chicken - go on, give it a go you might be surprised!
Staff are very helpful, polite and friendly.
Occasional queues at the bar, but you can predict when these will be just as you can at home, and time your trip to buy drinks.
Pool was good, seemed clean, and we always found plenty of sun beds.
I seem to remember better entertainment in the evenings 4 years ago, but there was a beautiful Flamenco evening this year, fabulous, and must be hard work in this heat!
Palma is a lovely city, well worth a visit on the local bus. We tried Abaco, a renowned and very beautiful bar, but expect the prices to reflect this - most expensive beer I've ever bought!
In Cala Mayor itsself we can recommend:
1) The Office bar, run by an attractive English girl called Susie, who was very helpful to us.
2) Don Boletus Restaurant, next to The Office - a lovely Spanish restaurant owned and run by Tomas, who is passionate about the food he presents. Try the paella, absolutely wonderful!
3) The nice cafe bar at the Marina, a great place for a morning coffee (or beer!) to watch the world go by.
All in all, you aren't paying top price for this hotel, and the value they give far exceeds what you might expect - it's a 3-star hotel and doesn't pretend to be anything more than that, but gives 5-star hospitality and value.

Room Tip: We e-mailed in advance to request a sea view - which most rooms have anyway - and were allocated a n...

Cheap n cheerful, hardly any english, lots of germans and especially a group of exciteable german school kids who we had to complain about three times for bangin about n shouting in the room above, stayed b&b there was no english fry up style food however cold meats n cheeses, croissants, there were eggs and toast however. Lovely views from the rooms but it is set a little out the way up a hill so def not suitable for less mobile people. Some really pretty quaint little beaches. The resort is suited to couples and older people.

Have just read a comment on here . You are obviously proffessional moaners !!!! we were there the same time as you , and yes we started off in a small room but after asking at reception for a sea view we were moved the next day to a much bigger room with sea and pool view , seems that most people start in a small room and then get moved ( as you did too !)
We weren't sad enough to count the steps to the " small" beach but like you we found bigger beaches , but actually the small beach was lovely with just a few locals on it and we had a lovely swim there .
The food was limited but tasty, and along with the "eggs" for breakfast you could have cold meats cheese and rolls , yoghurt and fruit , it's called a continental breakfast .
We didn't pay alot for our AI holiday and were happy with our holiday , lets face it you would be paying that price for B and B in England and you get all your drinks too . Don't let bad reviews put you off .
