“Relaxing stay”

A beautiful hotel with friendly and super staff. Overall we had a great stay in the largest room I have ever stayed in. The staff are super, always smiling and make the stay very pleasant. We could not get a sea facing room, but I guess that was our own fault booking so late. Love that breakfast goes on till 11 and the pizza oven is open all afternoon. The pool is super size and loved the lights at night. Overall great, just a shame the weather was so bad this weekend.

Great location, good food (especially breakfast), great and friendly service and staff, lovely room, beautiful pool/ beach area. It felt more like a boutique hotel, we were treated like we were on honeymoon but we were not! Spa treatments were also nice.

One of the best places I've stayed and would love to go back one day.

The pool guy was so sweet and even gave me his own goggles to use for my swim.

I always like to give very balanced reviews but it's difficult to fault this place.

Took a trip to the south of sri lanka and drove by this majestic property on the main road. We stopped in to see what was up and literally upon entering we were mesmerized by the Christmas decorations (its more Christmassy here then in North America by faaaaar which is a trip in itself) and proceeded to book the Presidential Suite with adjoining room for our parents. The driver had his own quarters across the street which in normal in this country but a nice thing for him. The Suite was stunning to say the least, huge living room with a huge master bedroom with a gigantic master bathroom with jacuzzi tub and a walk in shower. The best part I think is the staff, they go up and beyond to please the guests which shows in the little things they do. I would have to say that having stayed in 4 hotels in Sri Lanka (Dec.2012) this is by far the best one so far. The beach is great also for body surfing...
We also received a Christmas present upon checking out which was just the cherry on the top!! Keep up the Fantastic work!!!!

We stayed here for 5 nights during our tour of Sri Lanka. The hotel is a true 5 star hotel, fantastic rooms, great service and incredible food.
We loved the food here, everything we ord was tasty.
The best best best part of this hotel is the staff. Nothing is too much for them and if I could remember all of there names I would name them all on here! , they always have a smile on their face and will want to Make your stay as pleasurable as possible.

We stayed here for the last 4 nights of our tour in an ocean view room on the first floor.

Received a warm welcome on arrival at the large gates where we had a refreshing drink and a cold towel. This is where it ended unfortunately. We were then given the guided tour for over 30 minutes which even included a visit to the in-house shops, spa and gym which really wasn't called for after a long car journey to get there. A room tour would have been quite sufficient without what we felt like was a hard sell of all the other amenities, we just wanted to have some lunch and a drink!

Our room 29 was at the end of the hotel on the first floor with an ocean view which was very well appointed, although was starting to show a few flaws and could have really done with a refurb like they were doing to the room next door during our stay. Our key access card didn't work which meant that we couldn't get into our room for nearly an hour in the heat and a light failed above the bed in the middle of the night culminating in being put in the spotlight at 03.00 that we couldn't turn off!

The Jacuzzi with different coloured lights, large walk in shower, Crabtree & Evelyn products, dressing gowns were all to be expected in a 5 star resort. Slippers would have been a nice addition instead of the flip flops that had obviously been worn by previous guests.

The food here wasn't great compared to other hotels that we had stayed at in Sri Lanka. The best meal we had was breakfast despite the food in the silver cloches being luke warm. Our first lunch meal we received the hard sell of a romantic meal in the pool or in the fine dining restaurant at an extortionate cost. We wouldn't have minded paying for it if the food was up to standard. It was often tepid and under cooked, I had to send something back 3 times one evening. The buffets that they had during our stay looked ok on the surface but most of the food was served tepid and not hot at all. My husband was also served red wine in a chilled glass on 2 occasions. After complaining to the General Manager and the Food and Beverage Manager we eventually were served a hot adequate dinner on our last night, it only took 4 days to get it right! The F&B Manager was very embarrassed but the GM really didn't care.

We found the service here to be very hit and miss, on quite a few occasions we had to go up to the pool bar and ask for extra items over lunch/dinner.

We also found it quite annoying whilst lying on the sun lounger near to the beach being hassled all the time by the beach peddlers. The hotel didn't appear to do anything about this, we understand that it's a public beach but in our view there should have been some form of security as there has been at other resorts. Consequently we didn't venture onto the beach as we just wanted to be left alone.

We did visit Galle by tuk tuk that we took from outside the hotel (the hotel take a cut of this). Apparently you could have got this cheaper by using one of the beach peddlars but we used the hotel service just in case they didn't bring us back! The fort is ok to wander around but not really much to see, worth a visit to while away on hour or so.

The resort as a whole could be great, the small coloured lights in the pool at night were simply stunning, the view from our room of the crashing sea, the room itself was well appointed, our room boy was fantastic and the view out from reception across the infinity pool to the sea was lovely. We did have a good relax at the end of our holiday at this hotel but really felt that it wasn't good value for money. Some of the staff seemed generally dis-interested and morale seemed quite low.

Overall an ok stay, sure that there are better value beach resorts to stay at in Sri Lanka and the food really lets it down.

We did not stay there, but did go there for the food, because they were full. They had a wide variety according to my opinion. All waiters that I spoke to spoke english and was well informed of the happenings around Koggala. We spend around 18,000 LKR for 3 people, which I thought was reasonable. The only down side was that it was hard at times to get their attention. I would surely go stay there next time and maybe book well in advance.

Room Tip: Choose the higher floors for a nice breeze :D

We had the best time ever! Lovely friendly place. Our wedding there was beyond amazing! Can't wait to go back for anniversary :) 9 days is just not good enough. And Janaka is the best tuk tuk driver/ organiser. He helped to make our special day extra special.
