Aithra Apartments & Maisonettes

We were very excited to discover a place like this. I‘ve travelled around the Aegean a lot; this is one of the best places I have ever stayed in!
Rooms: The apartments were absolutely beautiful and beyond our expectations. New, modern, clean, they made our stay very comfortable. We stayed in maisonette 3A and it was spacious, very tastefully decorated, with large leather couches and LCD TV, NOVA (cable TV), WiFi, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a large bedroom. The views from our balconies, one upstairs and one downstairs, were breathtaking, since it is situated across a very nice, long sandy beach. We had the chance to have a chat with other tenants and they were all very happy with their rooms.
Location: The rooms are across St Peters’ beach which is clean, beautiful and organized. Also, they are very near Golden Beach (about 200 m), one of the best beaches of the island, with tirquaz, crystal clear waters. The place was also very quiet and peaceful, away from bars and noisy roads, with many olive trees and some free parking space next to our room. There is a super market within walking distance of the hotel. It is also near the port (Gavrion) and only a few km from Batsi.
Owners: The owners were very warm, friendly and helpful, I even had to visit a dentist during our visit and they did their best to assist me. The owner helped me a lot in choosing the room I would book, their website is quite useful. They are also the owners of a tavern next to the rooms, with a nice view, good service, homemade food and different menu every day-though not very cheap.
We had an amazing stay and we strongly recommend this place to anyone!

While the actual premises are nice and the location is good, the managers are unprofessional and disrespectful towards their guests.

Our experience: 3 big management mistakes in just a 3-night stay.

1. Before booking the room we were clear in our conversation with the managers that we wouldn’t proceed unless we could get a late checkout (checkout time is 12:00, but our ship was scheduled to leave at 18:40 and our 18-month old baby needs her siesta and a basic meal prepared in a kitchen. It goes without saying that we would pay whatever amount was necessary - usually half the price of a night’s stay). The managers explained that the deluxe room we wanted to book was booked for that day but they offered a nice alternative: a lodging especially built for such cases, within the premises, a small room with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, available to us until our departure at 18:00. We thought that this was an ideal solution since we couldn’t get the late checkout we wanted.
We only booked our deluxe room after the managers’ assurance that we could move to that second room until our departure.
But that second room turned out to be a storage room with no curtains, a single bed with no sheets (for two people one of which is pregnant), a broken shower and absolutely no kitchen. Also all over the place there were many hazardous cleaning products easily reached by the curious hands of an 18-month old.
I couldn’t prepare my daughter’s meal, she didn’t manage to sleep in such a sun-shed room, nor could any of us take a proper shower.
It turned out that the actual alternative room we had been promised was not a figment of their imagination but it did exist but the manager’s sister had reserved it for another client who didn’t show up until we left. Now, when did the make the double booking? Before our reservation or after? I wonder which case is worse and more unprofessional…

2. Less than six hours before our arrival to the island tha managers called us to ask for a favour: as the previous guest staying in the deluxe room had decided to stay another night (despite out reservation, she supposedly refused to leave the room), we were asked to spend the first night in another room. How ironic is that? We had asked for a late checkout when we booked the room, they had had replied that we didn’t have this option - of course we had respected that. When the managers asked for that “favour”, we made it clear we didn’t agree but either way, they ignored us and when we arrived we were shown into a smaller room in which we stayed for that night.
Total rooms we moved in and out in three days: three. And only one of them was the deluxe room we had booked in the first place. Besides, anyone who’s got kids knows that moving is not an easy task for a couple with a baby, who only want to relax and enjoy their short stay.

3. The managers also kept a restaurant within the hotel’s premises, where we had lunch every day. During one of those meals we witnessed an embarrassing, unprofessional and dishonest scene: the staff (not the younger employees) kept making offending and rude comments about the foreign customers who couldn’t understand, as they didn’t speak Greek. One member of the staff even turned to us, being Greek, to comment on a group of French visitors. Neither I nor my husband replied, showing our disapproval of that behavior, but I wish I had informed those people who had come to Greece to experience the famous Greek hospitality.

Overall: the managers were disrespectful to their guests – and that repeated behavior proved that it was a pattern rather than a case of “bad timing” for example…
