WE had a marvellous weekend at Charnwood, booked by my daughter for a family stay.
Charnwood comfortably accommodated nine family members in spotlessly clean, well equipped surroundings, with to die for views. It was a pleasure to stay here and we will certainly return given the opportunity.
WE ate at the Plough and all enjoyed our reasonably priced and well cooked meal. There is also a Spa store for those little things we sometimes forget.
An excellent weekend, enjoyed by all. Thank you.
This is a lovey house with all you could need for a holiday. Great location 15min drive to Whitby and the beaches, 30mins from Scarborough and right on the edge of the national park.
We had the pleasure of staying here for a week in July. The property is very clean and modern. The decoration and general repair to the property is superb. We had a very enjoyable stay and it really is like "home from home" The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms clean and airy, the kitchen was very well equiped and the living room was very comfortable. Plenty of parking outside and a large garden with great views. I can find no fault with this property whatsoever. We hope to return soon.

We stayed here with our son, daughter in law, baby grand daughter and our dog. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious. It had everything we wanted, including a clean travel cot, very well equipped. The garden was dog friendly, with a nearby river walk for coffee to the garden centre which allowed dogs. Easy drive to the coast. The plough serves good food and is baby and dog friendly. One of the best holiday lets we have stayed in. A perfect holiday.
Stayed at this holiday house in May for 3 nights. 8 adults and 2 young children. Tempted to give my rating 5 stars - think it was definitely 5 star for value for money . The photos on the website don't do this place justice, its very nice inside. In fact much better than expected. Its a modern house, clean, very well equipped kitchen. Massive 6 hob electric oven. Both tvs work - sometimes you go away and their is no reception at all but think they have digital tv boxes. Loads of parking for a large group - this is very important to me as houses in the nearby seaside resort have very little parking so for big groups arriving with 4 cars it can be stressful finding somewhere to park. This place has a top drive and bottom drive. There is a flat garden which was safe for the kids to run around and play. Nice views from the kitchen/diner. The house is on the edge of a residential area with lovely green valley views. Great for out 2 year old - clean high chair and ready assembled travel cot (also very clean) so you really don't need to take them with you. There was also a brill play room downstairs with quite a lot to entertain them.
Minor niggles we had with the house (other people probably wouldn't find these a problem though) - 8 adults was a bit of a squeeze bedroom wise as one couple has to share the room with a single bed and day bed (i.e. 2 singles) and this room is a bit small (would be no problem for kids though). The double bedroom under the kitchen diner gets the noise from the kitchen, so put people in there who are heavy sleepers or who don't mind being woken up by kitchen noise in the morning! No internet - not a problem if you want a break from it but we are addicts!
We went to whitby (10 mins drive) - some people went on a walk along the cliffs, others went on a very cheap boat ride (£2.50, toddlers free!) out of the harbour. We also went down to the beach for paddling and sandcastle building. Fish and chips from the quayside, recommended (£7 for a box meal and drink, nice curry sauce with raisins in -not like we have in sheffield but different!). We also went to Robin Hood's bay - if you've not been here before then be warned its a reyt walk down the hill with a heavy pram and a mother awaiting knee replacements!! Make sure you take a bucket and fishing net for rock pool dipping (you can buy them on the way down). There always seems to be an ice cream van on the beach. Beware the tide - don't rely on waiting for the ice cream van to move as he parks up at the top of the beach and doesn't drive up the slipway. We had drinks and sunday lunch at the Plough pub in sleights. Really great sunday lunch (so i'm told), I had whitby scampi (tastes much the same as any other scampi i've had in a pub). Staff very friendly and accomodating in here.
Have stayed in lots of holiday rental houses before - would definitely recommend this one, excellent value for money. Great weekend away, many happy memories made!
Charnwood is well placed for visiting Whitby, sandsend, scarborough, pickering etc only short drive to the sea. Sleights has a great butcher and bakery and a Spar shop if needed. The fish and chip shop at the top of the lane is good value. The home is very comfortable. The beds were like sleeping on air. We would definitely stay again. (Even though Wifi wasn't always available in the property). I would recommend if you want to relax in very plush surroundings.
