Sherwood Glen Guest House
Ranked #2 of 5 Sleights B&B and Inns
Reviewed November 25, 2012

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Sherwood Glen and what a wonderful stay, it has been our 3rd visit. We stayed in "Lloyd" this time and we were not disappointed, very comfortable room and spotlessly clean. Sherwood Glen is a true gem and credit must go to Robin and Trish, they are wonderful hosts and take great pride in what they do. The breakfast was, as always absolutely delicious and really sets you up for the day. Robin and Trish are full of knowledge of the area and are always happy to recommend walks, places of interest and places to eat, they make you feel very welcome and it is a lovely touch having a pot of tea and home made scones on arrival and of course a special mention must go to Bob, Mr Fox and the girls of course. It was a delight to return to Sherwood Glen each night after a full days walking and a good meal, it seemed just like going home. We will certainly return again without any doubts.

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it so much we will stay there again when next in the area. We were treated to home made scones and real tea on arrival, Trish and Robin were perfect hosts, and Bob kept me fit playing 'throw the hoop' in the garden! Great breakfast, with fresh eggs straight from the chucks roaming free in the garden. Great base for exploring the surrounding area. We would definitely recommend staying here.

we stayed 2 nights at sherwood glen, arriving at 8.00 on the friday. We were met by Robin with some scones and a pot of tea. Just what we needed.
The breakfasts were great, the accomodation roomy and fresh. All in all a great place to stay if you are explloring the area. All the local guides are available and the host is very helpful in giving directions.
With only three rooms, the place gives off an air of being a home with some rooms.

Room Tip: we had the room outside the house, the converted garage. It has cooking facilities. Getting there...

We spent 2 nights at Sherwood Glen Guest House in a very private, peaceful and park-like setting minutes from the bustling city of Whitby, North Yorkshire. We were greeted first by several free-ranging chickens and Bob the friendly dog...then Robin welcomed us into this beautiful and faithfully restored home. Trish prepared wonderful breakfasts and surprised us with a tray of scones, jam and cream for a lovely tea. We hated to leave this wonderful place and want to recommend it to the world. Thanks, Robin and Trish, for a lovely and most memorable visit.

A little tricky to find but once found what a gem of a place to stay. Trish and Robin were most welcoming and attentive. Tea and excellent scones were served on arrival in their lovely garden. The room we stayed in was very spacious, well furnished and extremely clean. Breakfast was wonderful - all local ingredients well cooked.

We booked Sherwood Glen for two nights in August 2012, on my own for the night before the big day, and then for Sara and I for our wedding night. The guest house is absolutely gorgeous, with a sweeping driveway leading up to the house in a hidden away location. We stayed in the Lloyd room, which was immaculately clean, a very good size with a beautiful bathroom, huge bed, and plenty of wardrobe space. A perfect end to a perfect wedding day.
Robin and Trish obviously take great pride in running the B&B, and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were superb with delicious eggs from their own hens! An idyllic place to stay if you're visiting Whitby, or anywhere around the North Yorks. Moors. There's also a pub about 10 minutes walk up the hill. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Room Tip: The Lloyd room is on the corner of the building so you get two aspects.

Robin and Trish are friendly, genuine and efficient and really seem to enjoy their work. The rooms were beautifully decorated and presented with plenty of space and seating. The location is lovely and, coupled with the comfortable bed, allows you to get a good night's sleep. The breakfasts were splendid and well cooked with local, fresh products and the eggs from their own, rather cute, chickens. Even the dog (Bob) and Cat (Mr Fox) join in to make your stay enjoyable.
We had chosen the location as we were booked on the steam train from Grosmont for a meal, but we were close enough to Whitby to enjoy some time in the delightful town and harbour area. we would certainly stay there again, possibly for an extended stay to explore the area more thoroughly.

Room Tip: All rooms are double and equally quiet.
