“Another Lovely Couple Of Days”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

We made a return visit to Sherwood Glen for a couple of nights and it was wonderful.
It really is a lovely place, we were welcomed by Robin and home made scones by Trish, yummy!!
Our room was very comfortable, clean and very spacious. Robin and Trish made us feel very welcome and the breakfast was excellent, very tasty and the eggs, yummy!! They both have extensive knowledge of the area which is handy for recommendations for walks and places to eat. We had a most enjoyable couple of days and a special mention must go to Bob, he is delightful.
We will certainly return.

Trish and Robin are a truly delightful couple. They made our stay in Whitby and the surrounding areas a real treat. They are so accomodating yet unobtrusive and made us feel so welcome. The bedroom was very clean, spacious, well apointed and they had an emergency tube of toothpaste on hand when I had forgotten ours! They had great insights as to where to visit and what to see without being pushy. A great walk , suggested by Robin, through woodland, farmland and stunning countryside made the arrival at Whitby so much more rewarding.
The breakfast is not to be missed and they quite proudly point out when the eggs have been laid by their own chickens.
I would definitely recommend a visit although I would rather keep the Sherwood Glen our little secret! I am looking forward to staying there again in the future.

A fantastic time in North Yorkshire was made even better by Robin and Trish. Sherwood Glen is an excellent guest house and the hospitality second to none. I would recommend it a great base for exploring the moors and the coast, an experience which was enhanced by the local knowledge of Robin and Trish. Certainly hope to stay there again in the future as I think you would have to travel a long way to find a better welcome.

This is by far one of the best bed and breakfasts we have ever stayed in. From the start Robin and Trish made us extreemly welcome with a very lovely tea and cakes after a drizzly way down. This extreemly friendly, clean and quiet b&b continued to score top on every level.

The furnishings, breakfasts, local facilities and overall peace and quiet of this fabulous guest house is one that will be difficult to top.

We will definately return in the near future and would highly reccommend this to anyone wanting to explore whitby or the surrounding area.

Thanks again
Lisa & Graham from Sheffield

Room Tip: As far as we were concerned and other guests staying there all rooms were outstanding

Well... you could see the disappointment in Robin's eyes when he couldn't unleash his full english breakfast on us - (he tried!). We did feel a bit guilty and know it's delicious from a previous visit, but after having a huge steak at the Postgate Inn (amazing food) which Robin kindly booked for us, we settled on cereal, poached eggs in toast from their chickens and i managed fresh fruit and yogurt and honey. Nothing is too much trouble for Robin and Trish, lovely couple. The quality of accomodation and food is first-class. Rooms spotless and very spacious. Robin and Trish make you feel at home the moment you arrive with coffee and cake waiting for you in the dining room. Will definately return in the near future.

This is becoming quite boring! This is going to be yet another bout of praise for this guesthouse. We picked a bad time of the year, weatherwise, as the forecast was for snow and just for once the Meteorological office was right. It didi snow quite heavily but still the village roads remained open. We did not want to chance a trip to Whitby for supper and so went for both nights to the Plough [PH], as recommended by the Sherwood owner. We were not disappointed. It is very friendly and the food is very well prepared. Because of its position, the Sherwood is, I suspect, always going make for a quiet stay. The breakfast was excellent, with it sems, mostly local produce and a window seat guarantees a good view of the hilarious chickens. All mod cons provided. Next time, I will try to find something wrong with the place!
