We stayed for a week in El Medano. Since the quality of the restaurants there was disappointing, we were tipped off to go to Los Abrigos, where some good restaurants in the harbor were located. We were pleasantly surprised by both restaurants Placeres as well as Los Roques. In total we have eaten three times in Los Abrigos. Placeres and Los Roques are both very good and we can not really choose which restaurant is the best. The next time we stay in Tenerife, we will definitely eat here again.

I visited this restaurant a few years ago shortly after it opened, i was very impressed and have to say that i believe it to be one of the best restaurants on the Island taking into account the exellence of the cuisine, the superb service, the views from the beautiful terrace and last but not
least value for money. On my first visit i have to say the restaurant was quiet but host Pablo was attentive without being intrusive but a very welcoming and knowledgable Matre De Hotel, the menu has changed since my first visit and the choice, quality, and presentation of the cuisine has not only sustained it's consistancy but has even improved surpassing all expectation. Upon first glance the menu appears limited but does have a varied and interesting choice but is highly imaginative and well thought out, the mixed Tapas starter can only be described as sensational, it consisted of King Prawn and Quails egg on a savoury biscuit, Chicken and torritzo rolls, silver spoons consisting of Lobster chunks adorned with caviar, Mussels cooked in white wine toased with parmisan to name but a few, the platter for two was exellent value at 14 euros. 'Her indoors' chose the suckling pig which was slow cooked, shredded and then pressed into a piramid sitting on a base of mashed cream and leak potato beautifuly presented on a slate plate. I had the Confit of duck, the outer skin tasted slightly like chinese crispy duck but the meat was so tender and cooked to perfection, it was adorned with an irish 'Colcannon' and fresh veg of the day. Both main courses were very good value at 16 euros each. Pablo now struts his 'stuff' in his 'celebrity chef' whites and front of house now is the lovely Anna who is not only an exellent restaurant manager but a very clever and astute young lady with a pleasant and approachable manor and i believe she is the 'Pearl in Pablo's Oyster' and an exellent and invaluable asset to Placeres. The chef Cristian has a real tenacity for detail and his plates leave the kitchen like a work of art, i was quite 'tickled' at the amount of diners taking photographs of their dinners before eating them. I was too full to partake of the apple and sultana tart adorned with icecream and custard but the table next to us assured us that it was delicious. If you are staying anywhere in the south of the Island and enjoy eating out then this restaurant is unmissable, (even if your staying in the north its worth a trip down).

As a resident I love the restaurants in this area who offer the freshest fish on the Island. If you are on holiday in Las Americas or anywhere that requires a taxi and you're not sure where this is just grap a leaflet which you should be able to find in your hotel reception or at the local shopping mall and just give it to a taxi driver, it's well worth the short journey. This restaurant has a great selection of top quality fresh fish and seafood. My husband and I had crab last time we went as a main course and it was delicious, we made quite a mess of the table, it's so much fun to eat and they manage to make it so succulent here. The salads are cold and crisp, rather like their dry white wines which is a great accompanyment to any of the meals. There's a lovely view of the harbour which is perfect for couples but there are families here too. The staff are great and the waiters have an indepth knowledge of the menu so don't be afraid to ask what things are and how they are cooked. Definately makes my top ten list of best places to eat on the island.

Samll very welcoming restaurant with indelible character from the owner Pablo and the waitress Anna. Excellently prepared food extremely well presented making excellent use of the fresh local produce with the flair evident in the owners imagination and attention to detail. We loved the grapfruit foam for our dishes which sadly due to the wind on the terrace flew and was immediately replaced with new. The individual touches, and quality of the meal sets it apart aside from the very personal service and attention which make this well worth a special visit to the small fishing village in the south of Tenerife. We highly recommend it and will visit again. Do reserve a place as it getting very popular.

We go regularly, but have just returned from a big family trip (11 of us). Pablo prepared an individual, 7 course tasting menu for us all for my birthday which was absolutely fantastic. We returned two more times and had equally good food. Anna provides great service, and Christian keeps the kitchen running smoothly while Pablo designs and prepares wonderful dishes. Don't miss it!
