I read some of the reviews before we left and I was a litte scared to say the least. After a three hour delay and a stop in munich we arrived at our hotel. We arrived at the reception with only two people checking people in which was a nightmare as there were people already complaining when we arrived whioch made the queue even longer. Went to the room and like most peoples comments room was really bad see photos. I ahd my two sons with me and room was 2 star at most and freezing as we had arrived in thunderstorms and all the windows were open!

Could not upgrade until the next day which cost 144 euros was a bit peeved as already paid 1500 in January for this hotel.

Paid money and was upgraded and there was no comparison def a 5 star room.

Food was ok a bit bland. Swimming pool was freezing but I checked the whether before we left so we knew what we were expecting. Staff were ok.

As we were leaving it looked like the rest of the hotel was getting ready to be upgraded which it really needs. If we had gone to an upgraded room straight away I would of been less stressed and would have enjoyed the holiday more.

Roda town is in 2 words A DIVE. Its rundown and tatty and is trying to be english. Went to the local fishing village which cost 30 euros again much of the same and we got food posining. All excursions were cancelled so I cant comment on the rest of corfu but I will not be returning to the Island to find out

The previous reviews are correct, this isn't a 5* hotel, it's between 3 and 4 but with a few things that let it down in some areas. We visited in October with our two children and two parents and if you're expecting real 5* you're going to have to expect to pay for 5*.

Overall the hotel itself is quite good; we were in the new block opposite the foyer & we found the rooms were new and clean. They had a double bed and another room with two bed settees separated by a glass partition. The only complaint was that the door was useless for sound proofing and with a marble corridor it was quite noisy. You can see into the older rooms at the opposite side of the main hotel so I can see why there have been so many complaints as they looked very basic indeed, 2* would be too much of a compliment. However they were clearing these rooms while we were there, tipping the beds off the balconies ready to upgrade I presume.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful. We did see a few people complaining that their room wasn't ready on arrival(one still waiting at 6pm!) and a few couples were upgrading but the majority of people were happy. The weather was poor which didn't help, although it did improve through the week. This restricted our use of the pool which my 7 yr old loved. Although, as it’s unheated it was a bit too cold for most. This was a pity as this was one of the best pools we've seen for size and layout with a good slide too. In fact, the children commented that it's better then any we’ve seen in a long time. No one reported any skin problems. Can’t comment on the pool side grill as it was closed
Forget the gym, it's the worst I've ever seen. One bike and a treadmill with the cable under water! The 2 tennis courts and the 5 a side football pitch were fine once they’d dried off. The entertainment seemed to be scaling down for the end of season but the aerobic instructor/s were still keen.
We all thought the food overall was quite good and the buffet had a good selection. Breakfast was fine although the waiters wouldn't leave a jug of coffee on the table and were slow with refills. Lunch and dinner buffet selection were OK too but mainly the same - wouldn't manage for 2 weeks without more variety. They did crepes with every meal which I thought was fantastic and so did the kids, we never tired of these!

The taverna was shut but we tried the Italian and Chinese twice. The Italian was good typical fare; the Chinese was OK, although it could do with a bit more panache.

The beach is poor and Roda itself is run down, but so is the rest of Corfu. I visited Corfu 22 yrs ago and it's not changed much although it does have some great views. The shopping seems to consist of souvenirs, general tat and cheap copies. There seems to be a lack of really good newer hotels so the Roda Beach could be onto a winner with some more improvement. They do seem to be spending money on it so it might be worth a visit in a year or two although I doubt we'd go back to Corfu again as there are nicer places that this, but if we did, we'd consider staying at the Roda Beach.

Reception and lobby area very nice obviously being the first part of the complex to have had money spent on it by the new owners. We initially were given accommodation in one of the bungalows near the beach, but as soon as we arrived I requested a room inside the main part of the hotel as I didn't want to keep trailing from room to restaurant and other facilities in the rain! We were told to see the manager at 11am next day for a transfer, which we did and didn't have to pay any additional charges. This was probably because I'd already booked and paid for what I thought was the top grade accommodation available already for the all inclusive holiday. The price we paid I felt was reasonable despite the low spec room we were given and access to it being very disappointing and desperately in need of modernisation but I have to say it was very clean and was kept that way throughout our holiday by the daily cleaner. It did however look out over the pool and beach so that was a plus. The food in the main restaurant was excellent and I told the chef so. I thought the choice of menu in the chinese, greek and italian restaurants was a bit limited but at least they'd made some effort by providing what they did and what we had to eat was very nice. I found the majority of the staff to be polite and helpful with just a handful who's personnel skills were sadly lacking. The pool facilities were excellent and my one regret was not having visited this hotel as a family with my children when they were younger as they would have loved what water features were on offer. The entertainment team both french animation and the Thomson (terrors) were very entertaining and worked hard and provided some good shows of an evening. The siting of the hotel itself is fine if you like a quiet setting and are satisfied with everything on offer within the complex, but if you prefer to wander into the town it is a bit of a trek once it is dark as the short cut across the beach isn't advisable. Although Roda town itself was almost shut down during the day probably because it was so late in the season. Overall we had an enjoyable holiday which was marred mainly by the poor weather, wasps and mosquitos but you cannot blame the hotel and holiday company for those. I'd rate the accommodation as 3 star and the food 5 star. Corfu is a lovely island but not enough there to make me want to venture back for a second trip.

The staff were very professional and tried their best to cover up for the lack of decent facilities. This was a one star hotel in a lovely setting mascarading as a five star.

The buffet food was adequate, with the best fare being provided by the Italian restaurant, which had to be booked in advance, as did the greek and chinese. The all inclusive drinks consisted of the cheapest brand spirits, chemical fruit juices, and coffee that seemed to contain no caffein.

The lack of sun in October meant that the facilities were very inadequate. The staff again tried their very best and worked with the resorces they were given. The daily programme was predictable and repeated every day without variation. A 5 star hotel could have provided entertainment from professional performers.

The internet provision was medieval; one very slow machine costing 6 euros per 30 mins. The satellite TV showed about 8 channels, the only english being BBC World and CNN. The gym was small, with no weights only cardio machines.

Roda is a small resort with the usual shanty town sprawl of cafes and shops selling beach towels etc. Again there was not much to do. Thank God we booked a car for the week and were able to drive to the capital every day and to other sights. A cab from the airport was quoted as 60 euros, but the car cost 150 for the whole week. There is one cinema on the island showing twice a day in the evening.

The people of the island were very friendly and helpful without exception. The prices were not that less than those in London for eating out.

This hotel sounded wonderful before arrival, but dissappointed throughout the week. The room was the biggest let down. Basic, cold, ants, noisy, but clean.

This is a resort for parents with kids, not for couples and not for anyone who doesnt fit into the standard english fish and chips holiday. If you want a holiday to remember for the right reasons, then dont go to Mitsis hotels, but Missit.

We decided to go to Corfu on holiday and found what we thought seemed to be a fabulous 5* hotel with hotels.com via UK Travel shop. This hotel was booked on an all inclusive basis. When we arrived we were shown our room, we had booked a twin/double room, we ended up with two single beds and bunk beds in the room, we could hardly move, well this was definitely not 5*!, or anywhere near 3*. The room was beyond basic, we went back to reception to complain, but was told nothing could be done until the morning, when the manager was on site. We were not the only people complaining at this point. When the morning arrived there was no sign of the manager until 11.30. We were eventually told we could upgrade to a superior room for an extra 144 euros. They seemed to be conning people left right and centre! The guests had no choice but pay, especially if they had children because of the state of the rooms. So we decided to take a look at another standard double room first, to see if there would be any improvement. This was just as bad as the first room. As time went on we continued to complain, as well as other guests, we tried speaking to our rep, she was hardly any help at all. By the third day we couldn't stand the room any more so we managed to speak to the manager, after some harsh words we managed to come to an agreement, this being that he would discount the upgrade to 50 euros, but told us not to mention this to anyone. So after discussing the matter we paid the money with reluctance.

The staff within the hotel varied with regards to being helpful. The staff behind the reception desk were abrupt and most unhelpful. The way they spoke to guests was of upmost disgrace.

The food wasn't much better, in the main restaurant each day there was the same on the menu, for breakfast lunch and dinner. If you didn't mind eating spaghetti bolognese, a fry up, crepes, salad or fish and rice everyday, three times a day, then this would suit you fine. The food around the pool bar was basically non existant, unless you wanted a piece of dry cake.

On not such a negative note, the look of the hotel from the outside, including the pool area would pass very presentable. This is why the hotel is so deceiving when you book it.

We were also told the hotel was not far from the airport and we could get a taxi, costing approx £10. This was a complete lie, it cost us 50 euros and we had to travel a death ride of 45 minutes. You couldn't get a taxi anywhere, especially on change over days! Other days you were in for a long wait.

The local town Roda was not what we expected, it was full of bars and restaurants with the odd junk shop. You could get there via the beach in 10 minutes, however by road, up and down several hills it would take you around 25 minutes and when you got back to the hotel, you would need a well earned rest.

Finally Hotels4U blamed the UK travel shop and other UK travel agents for not telling the guests they needed to upgrade to a superior room when booking, as they know the standard rooms they are selling are very poor. We were unaware there were different styles of rooms, we thought we were booking 5*.

I definitely won't be returning and i would advise anyone thinking of booking this hotel to think again, if you are deciding to travel to Corfu. I would have expected a lot better from a Mitsis Hotel group.

Arrived at Roda beach on 15th October to find a damp, cold disgusting room. Not fit for a dog. Expected to be stopping in a 5 star hotel which it definately was not. It was more like a 2 star, I have stopped in better youth hostels!! I would have at least thought there would be tea/coffee making facilites but there was nothing. If we wanted to upgrade we had to pay for at least 150 euros which i thought was totally out of order as we had already paid enough for this holiday.

All the staff (including our holiday rep) were very rude and unhelpful and seemed not to care at all about any of the guests needs. Did not show an interest at all about our upset over this dump of a hotel!!!!

The food was terrible with no variation at all, it was cold half the time and just not upto a fair standard let alone 5 star what you got at lunch you got at dinner too.

The beach and pools were nothing special either. Most of the week it rained,(which is obviously no one fault) but there was nothing put on in the days to entertain people and even the spa had been closed!!!

All in all this is the worst holiday I have ever been on, it has put me off Greece for life because of the ill mannered staff.!!

Any body reading these reviews I advise you NOT to book this hotel.!!!!!! Unless of course you have plenty of money to be ripped off to upgrade your room.
