Firstly, this hotel does not cater for gluten intolerance and if you do decide to take pot luck the food is not labelled. We were told one night the GF option is turkey, lamb, potato and rice. The food does not stay hot and even after 10 mins of entering the restaurant it is cold. Can’t quite understand how it’s not kept heated on the hot plates. For an all inclusive package they certainly keep it limited. Daytime buffet is dreadful with only a handful of cold options. No ice cream for the kids and the fresh fruit is crawling with flies (rinse with water before eating). Be prepared to spend money on branded drinks because what they serve is watered down and cheap tasting. Not to mention you can only get wine and beer until 6:30pm. Cocktails not all inclusive.
WIFI IS NOT FREE. You can pay 25€ for 6 days which I thought was good, but it is for one device and not for the room occupants. For a family of 5 that would have been a hefty 125€.
Not all rooms come with a safe and you may need to rent a box in reception.
Air conditioning units are too small for the rooms and don’t keep them cool.
Despite stating a gym, there is one multigym appliance in a dark room.
Entertainment is run by the hotel staff and although they try their best it’s not the same as hiring in various entertainers.
The green block accommodation is the oldest block and really does need some work. Our room door did not stay closed, shower head was broken and please invest in some black out curtains. I noticed the windows in the new blocks have them.
Despite that the location is good being on the beach and a 10 min bus ride to Falairaki and Rhodes.
Staff and cleaners are great, they just need to replace the chef!!
It is passed off as a 4 star hotel but would say it is more 3. I wouldn’t say avoid but bear in mind it’s not the best.
Sad to say we were ready to go home.
Visit Eat Greek in Falaraki for some excellent food and outstanding hospitality.

We stayed for a week (8-15th June, half board in private suite with pool) and were pleasantly surprised by the hotel considering the reviews it has been given.

Staff were friendly and helpful at every encounter from check-in to departure. There was food and drink available to us even though we arrived at 2am, and the guy on reception waited for us to then show us to our room.

Our room was nicely decorated, clean and we were given fresh towels every day too. Air con was in the room but the main door had to be closed for it to work, also a fridge and basic hair dryer too. The Shop next door to the hotel was a little pricey and perhaps not the friendliest or staff but there’s a supermarket about a 10min walk away on the main road.

Poolside was great at both of the pools and sun beds were comfortable too.

We went half board and did not go hungry in the slightest! Quite handy that you could swap dinner for lunch if you wanted to as well which was great when we went into Rhodes Town for dinner so didn’t feel like you were wasting half board. Plenty of choice from salads to traditional Greek dishes to chips/pizza/rice - something different every day - don’t forget to go outside to the BBQ for freshly cooked meat. Breakfast also had plenty of choice from continental to pancakes, fruit and Greek cake as well as cereal and toast.

We had a late flight home so we were able to use the hotel facilities all day, store our luggage in lockers for a small charge and use the showers as well. You can also pay a bit extra for late check out but didn’t feel we needed to.

Virginia Hotel are investing a lot in the hotel judging by the new furniture arriving and also all the guys out painting/decorating/gardening - please take some new photos to show it all off!

There was also some entertainment through the day (water aerobics) and also in the evening (Greek night, kids disco) as well as a kids playground area and a pool table/air hockey table.

Highly recommend going into Rhodes Town (€2 each way by bus or €10 by taxi) and also to the beach which is down a bit of a steep hill opposite the hotel.

All in all, great holiday in Rhodes, lovely hotel and plenty to see and do. Don’t let the negative reviews put you off!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Virginia Hotel for a week (May-early June 2019) and we really enjoyed our stay! We’d been quite nervous about staying here because of the negative reviews but we had no issues at all.

We arrived at the hotel just before midnight and we were offered a welcome cocktail at the bar while reception sorted our rooms out. A nice touch!

We were given our room card and given directions to the room – unfortunately, the receptionist had led us down the wrong corridor, but he was apologetic and polite about it, and the issue was resolved immediately. We were given a refurbished room, which was lovely and clean. There was air-con in the room, but we didn’t use it. Hairdryer in the bathroom, which was handy! The rooms were cleaned almost every day and on one day, the cleaners must have clocked that we were a couple because there were swan-shaped towels and rose petals on our bed, aww.

The food was lovely! There was always a nice selection of hot food, salads, BBQ (at dinner) and desserts, and the staff worked hard to make sure the tables were cleared quickly. We ate at the hotel quite often in the bid to save money, and we had no issues with any of our meals.

We were aware of the all-inclusive drinks limitations before we arrived, so we knew what to expect. We relaxed at the bar on most evenings and it was fine – OK, so the alcohol was watered down and the soft drinks gave us fuzzy teeth, but I think this is standard with most European all-inclusive places. We were happy with what we got.

You have to pay 25 euros for 7 days of WiFi (for one device only). Though we’d have preferred free WiFi (wouldn’t we all?), it was OK for us.

Pools were fine, there is a big family one where all the kids go. We stayed in the quieter pools, but from what we saw, there were plenty of areas for kids. We had no issues getting sun loungers.

There is a mini-market attached to the hotel – it’s quite pricey, but it is convenient.

Location of the hotel is great – about a 3 minute walk to the beach (down a steep hill). There is a bus stop close by (NOTE: you need to catch the bus from the main road - do not wait at the bus stop that is in front of the hotel play area or you'll be waiting forever!). The busses are cheap and quick, and can take you to places like Rhodes Town, Lindos, Faliraki and Kallithea Springs (RECOMMENDED!).

There is a luggage storage room and lockers (2 euros per locker) downstairs of the hotel.

Overall, my boyfriend and I had a lovely holiday and we would not hesitate to stay at Virginia Hotel again in future.

Stayed here for a week earlier this month (June 2019), and it was brilliant. I highly recommend!

For the price we paid for a week all inclusive, and from the photos and reviews we weren't expecting much. But my goodness did we get a (good!) surprise when we arrived! The reception area and bar is spotless, obviously newly refurbished. We did have to wait for about five minutes while the reception staff checked our room was ready, but we got a welcome drink which was a nice touch.

We were given our room which was a little confusing to find. We got to the room and, while it was lovely and again obviously newly refurbished, it was not the pool view we had paid for. So we spoke to the manager at reception who was very friendly and polite and said there was nothing he could do that day, but to come back at 10am tomorrow and he'd see what could be done. We did, and he upgraded our room to another newly refurbished room on the top floor with a lovely view. Again, very clean.

People who are saying the aircon doesn't work...it does. We learned from reception that the balcony door must be closed (which makes sense!!) for it to work. And it works brilliantly!

Other things, great food selection at all meals, it was different every time we ate there (ate elsewhere a couple of times). The drinks selection was great, standard beer, wine, soft drinks 1000-2230, spirits available after 1800. Three pools, shop on site, beach with fab beach bar very close by (no more than 100m walk). Note: there is quite a steep but paved path up from the beach, so people with limited mobility may struggle.

All in all, I'd recommend. The staff are lovely, the facilities are great, location is good, great selection of food and drinks!

Arrived late at night to be told that there was an issue with our room and we were to be taken to a nearby sister hotel of the same standard, with promises of various upgrades...spent 2 days there before returning with non of the promises. Room/suite in poor state of repair/cleanliness, staff unhelpful, restaurant/food not of good standard or variety.....meal times more like feeding time at the zoo.....not the best, would not recommend.
