If you buy wine by the name, or the color of the label, this place will not be for you....Bill Resort?? However, if you enjoy a place to stay that is a little off the regular road, but still has the qualities needed for a relaxing trip, this is it. A somewhat sprawling resort, with many cottages, the best way to describe it would be Robinson Crusoe-ish. I enjoyed a cabin with an overview of the ocean. The beach was great for swimming, pool area secluded, breakfasts(included) were tasty, and wonderful view from the eating area. Wifi was good. Resort is walking distance to the town of Lamai. Computers were available at the office for a small fee. English was understandable.
Despite the name, I would go back to this resort.......

Room Tip: AS the resort stretches from the ocean to well up the overlooking hill, its what you want to spend...

My daughter (21) and myself stayed here for 7 nights from February 14th 2012. This place is amazing, the staff are so, so helpful and kind, right from the maids, bar staff, restaurant staff, pool guy and the receptionists. The food in the restaurant was good, breakfasts were very varied and a lot to chooses from. The beach was amazing, the pool and jacuzzi were lovely and clean, sunbeds were plentiful and not taken by 6am!!!!

We stayed in bungalow 710, right at the top of the hill. It was so peaceful, all you could hear was birds, crickets, frogs and other wildlife, it was truly relaxing. The rooms are a little bit dated but that is a small price to pay for the peace and quiet, and all for such a reasonable price. There are a few bugs to contend with but it is a hot country, wherever you go there are bugs.

The only negative is the hill that you have to climb from the beachpool/restaurant, but having said that it was good to walk off the excellent food that we ate, especially the barracuda steaks. I cannot fault this place, I will definitely go back and would not hesitate to recommend it to couples, families or singles looking for a quiet place to stay and get away from the chaos of Chaweng or Lamai town.

Lamai town is about a 10 minute walk away via the beach, where you will find everything that you need, restaurants, bars, shops, market, thai boxing. We ate in a lovely restaurant in Lamai, called Sala Thai, the food and service was exceptional, but it does get very, very busy. There are bars just minutes walk away along the beach if you want a lively night, with music etc, so you get the best of both worlds here.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 710, a steep walk but very, very quiet. Having said that all of the resort was pea...

I have stayed at Bill Resort on 3 occasions and would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
On one occasion i stayed here i left AUD$500 equivalent to 15000bht in my room for period of 3 days and it was untouched which i was pleased about.
Staff at resort are very friendly and helpful in anyway they can be.
Rooms very clean as cleaned daily, only had problem on one occasion were power went down in room so they moved me rooms that night and had problem fixed next morning.
Highly recomended

At the quiet southern end of Lamai - Bill is great. It is situated well off the road and right on the beach. The beach is wonderful - unlike the beaches in more populated areas like Chewang. The rooms have character and the restaurant and bar are right on the beach. Any transport to 'towns' is $$$; but that it a problem all over Samui. It is an easy walk into Lamai... maybe 15 minutes. I stayed in a hut a few metres fromt he sea for a few nights then moved back a bit to a room just as good and much, much less $. Do it!!!! Oh - it is also peaceful. :)

Room Tip: Stay at the bottom of the hill. It's steep!

Great place to stay if you want to get away from it all. Leafy bungalows around a large resort, not at all "hotel like" which was just what we wanted for Koh Samui. Nice swimming pool but not too big & bustling, easy walk to the beach. Food and wine in the restaurant here is not great, better to go to other restaurants on the beach, but there are so many great places to eat nearby that this was not a problem for us. Rooms are traditional but bathrooms are pretty basic. Bill Resort will arrange you friendly and cheap taxi to anywhere you need (sometimes by staff member on their way home from work, so friendly). Lamai beach is pretty. We had a wonderful time here, would go back.

Room Tip: We asked for a tour around the rooms and they were very happy to show us. Bungalows away from beach...

We stayed at the Bill resort for 5 nights towards the end of July and for the most part enjoyed our stay. The facilities are generally pretty great. The pool is nice and the restaurant, which overlooks a quieter part of Lamai beach, is more than satisfactory. 10 mins walk up the beach will take you into Lamai centre where there is a wider selection of bars and places to eat but if you are looking for a quiet few days away from the hustle and bustle then Bill is perfectly situated.

The only down side was our room. We opted for the standard option at 1000 baht a night and, whilst not awful, it didnt live up to the rest of Bill. it was pretty cramped and basic and there was always the looming threat of a bug or two making it into the room. I would also advise ear plugs as the noise from the wildlife made it difficult to sleep - birds mainly but when it rains there are also frogs everywhere!

We would happily return to Bill but would certainly opt for one of the more expensive rooms.

We initially booked ahead for 4 nights from the UK for the end of April. Liked it so much after we arrived we opted to stay for a further 4 days. It was very quiet whilst we stayed, a few other travellers - French, German & Thais so quite nice mix of people. It is pretty much at the southern end of Lamai beach not far from Grandmother/father rocks so a good 10/15 minute walk to the centre of Lamai either via the road or beech, but that means it is very quiet except for the frogs at night - nice. The grounds are sub-tropical which is lovely if you like plants, which we do, but you need to protect against mosquitoes if you have a drink on the balcony at dusk.
Plus points:
Very friendly staff.
Rooms spotless and cleaned to a very high standard & good value compared to local competition.
Breakfast good. Food excellent in restaurant although we chose to eat up-town most evenings.
Nice pool & jacussi.
Mr Bill came round at breakfast to talk to everyone which was nice (his English was limited but better than my Thai)
No real negatives but a few things to consider:
The beach-front of this part of Lamai suffered from the heavy rains in April. As a result the access to the beach from the hotel was a bit difficult. The beach-front villas were under repair during our stay so may not be available.
The rooms near reception, which seem to be the best rooms involve quite a steep climb down to the beach & restaurant so if you have walking difficulties make sure you are nearer the bottom.
We hired a bike from Bills, it was a duffer - bald tyres, useless helmets etc. There are new looking bikes for hire in Lamai so they may be a better option.

Overall, had a great stay & would recommend it.
