We arrived at Lamai Wanta a few days before Christmas, and were immediately greeted by friendly staff who insisted on carrying our heavy bags up three flights of stairs. This helpful and generous behaviour continued for our five day trip. We had read positive reviews on Lamai Wanta but it turned out to be even better than expected. The hotel was extremely clean, very good breakfast with a range of western and eastern options, but best of all was the swimming pool set right on the beach. We made the most of the hotel facilities, and ate several delicious lunches from their restaurant, drank the fruit smoothies from their beach hut and had a couple of their beach side massages. Everything was very good value. Lamai definitely isn't our favourite destination in Thailand, but the hotel made it for us. The only small gripe is that the room could do with a mirror (there was only a small one in the bathroom). Overall a very enjoyable experience.

I have been here many times in the past and I always enjoyed it, now after an absence of 4 years it was still a great place. Of course prices have gone up but the nice setting including the pool on the beach in the centre of Lami could hardly be any better. Friendly staff too.

Very good budget hotel, great location in the central Lamai with easy access to shops, services, restaurants and bars. But the best thing is the pool: Lamai Wanta is the only hotel on Lamai beach with a seaside pool. You will really appreciate it when you want to take a dip in the salty ocean and come back to your clean peaceful poolside sunbed after visiting the hotel's beach shower. For all you sunbathers Lamai Wanta is a great choice.

We loved our 7 day stay at Lamai Wanta. Our expectations weren't high as the daily rate was so low - and when we arrived late and were taken to our beautiful private suite by two well-dressed porters I thought I had a mistake.

The hotel is right on the beach, with a lovely pool and restaurant overlooking the sea. The gardens are lush and well-maintained giving one the impression that you're away from the hustle and bustle, when in fact you are at the centre of a very 'happening' spot. Our room was at the back, and not ground level which gave us privacy. Room was spacious, beautifully decorated, light and clean. Private balcony furnished with lovely wood suite.

The only downside were the Russian tourists who hogged all the loungers under the tree and growled at anyone who would attempt to share their shade and those awful sex-tourists (white, old, flabby and socially inept men) with their young Thai escorts (easily identifiable by the evident language barrier and age difference) - but this applies to Koh Samui as a whole.

Tip: Breakfast at the Aussie bar on the corner was delicious and carried us through to dinner time.

I highly recommend Lamai Wanta and will visit again!

Really enjoyed this stay. Full of atmosphere and the location and pool was excellent. Lamai is a very busy place at night and very fun. Certainly a great night out

The resorts service was also very good and I highly recommend it to all travelers.
