“Good hotel next to the rock formations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2013

We stayed in the best room in this hotel (seaview bungalow) as it was the same price as the average rooms in other hotels. It was spacious with full length glass windows all around looking out to the pool/sea. Obviously if you wanted to open the blinds, anyone walking past to get to the pool/restaurant could see in, but it was light in the room with them closed. It had dining table/chairs, big fridge, tv, settee. The standard rooms were also lovely, just a lot smaller. They were all white and nicely decorated with towels made into shapes on the beds. The smell of the bad drains were overpowering in the bathroom, but that's quite usual in Thailand!

The whole complex was small with a good atmosphere. There were unusual statues and ornaments everywhere which gave the place a modern outlook. The curved wicker sunbeds around the pool gave the place a luxurious feel, and there were more sunbeds on the beach for the hotel's customers. Thai women have an area on the beach at the front of the hotel and they are so friendly giving massages.

Small nice warm pool open late into the evening. Lamai area needs pools to swim in as it is usually very windy and the waves are extremely rough. I didn't venture in the sea because of the strong waves. My husband liked the look of them until he was pulled under with the force!
The restaurant/bar had very friendly staff and good food and service. The breakfast wasn't included in the price of the room but you could order what you wanted at the restaurant (varied cheap options) and you could have it anytime. The staff at reception were a bit more disinterested. They offered us a private taxi when we left which was twice the price of the taxi we hailed from the street (the hotel's owner had told us to do that by email prior to arrival!) He was from Holland and very nice.. spending time with his customers in the bar area in the evenings. He even let us have a very late check out for free, as we had checked in late just the night before and so we were able to spend the whole day around the pool and in and out of our gorgeous room.

We walked 5 minutes around the corner to see the Grandfather and Grandmother Rock Formations and bartered in the great market stalls there. We didn't walk the 15 minutes to Lamai town because we were going to Chaweng the next day and that has the same things there.

Room Tip: Seaview bungalow very spacious but standard rooms lovely too but smaller

We stayed 3 nights in an air conditioned room. I have no idea, why there are so many good ratings. Ok, the staff was friendly, there was free wifi and a tv in the room. But the room was dirty and weary. The bed was hard. The shower was placed over the toilet seat, which was broken. The quality of the food in the restaurant was poor - I had the worst fried rice ever in there. The hotel charges 5% extra for paying with a credit card. The charge has been 3 or 4% in other hotels.

We walked into this resort based on other people telling us to stay here. The women at the front desk tried to charge me double the price then what was listed on expedia. As a result, I went on the computer which is in the reception area and made a reservation.

Positives for the resort:

Great beach, great bar, really nice pool which is next to the bar.

Negatives: The fan rooms were old, grimey and just overall disgusting. We were not able to sleep at all during the night. In fact at one point I went out to buy a bottle of water and it was cooler outside.

Our experience would have been nicer had we maybe booked a fan room.

The resort was simply beautiful. Most importantly the staff was very helpful and friendly! The restaurant food was pretty good. They have a small pool to swim in and located in a quiet neighborhood. My 3 nights at this resort was a pleasant experience and totally don't regret spending a little extra money here. It was decent a budget for a wonderful location.

There are a comfortable big bed, clean basic bathroom, flat screen with clear cable tv and tea/ coffee making facilities.
We really like to lie on the pool area to sea the sea and star :).

We just wanted a nice and nicely priced place to stay for a few nights on Koh Samui, so we booked Samui Beach Resort for 2 nights, but ended up staying 9 nights!

It is called a resort, but really it is not a resort, but just a great beach apartment/hotel/hostel, so if you are looking for a real resort with kids enterainment, buffet food ect, this is not the place, but if you are looking for a nice affordable place to stay on Koh Samui, than this is the place for you!

We had a standard double room with AC, the beds where comfortable and the shower/toilet was basic but clean! There is a cable flatscreen TV and a minibar in the room. Also there is strong and fast free WIFI in the rooms, restaurant and on the beach! In the garden full of nice pieces of art you can walk to the beach which is a short distance as the "resort" is right on the coast. At the beach there they have a nice bar/restaurant which serves great drinks and OK food.

Next to the restaurant there is a small but very clean pool, Around the pool there are free sunbeds, as well as on the beach. The beach is clean and a nice place to swim and sun. The "resort" also offers a massage service on the beach which looked very good (did not try it)

The "resort" also rents out scooters for just 200 bath a day. For the rest the staff is all super friendly and helpfull! Samui Beach Resort, it might not be a "real" resort, but for us it was a great place to stay and relax!

we will be back next time we stay on Samui!

Room Tip: we had a lovely room on the ground floor, Our room number was 313

We really enjoyed this resort... Our room was an Air-con dbl with extra bed. Flat screen tv and tea/ coffee making facilities.

Great pool area... Right out onto beach. Nice restaurant- good pizzas!
Out on street it's pretty quiet but walk along beach if your after more liveliness.
