We stayed in the best room in this hotel (seaview bungalow) as it was the same price as the average rooms in other hotels. It was spacious with full length glass windows all around looking out to the pool/sea. Obviously if you wanted to open the blinds, anyone walking past to get to the pool/restaurant could see in, but it was light in the room with them closed. It had dining table/chairs, big fridge, tv, settee. The standard rooms were also lovely, just a lot smaller. They were all white and nicely decorated with towels made into shapes on the beds. The smell of the bad drains were overpowering in the bathroom, but that's quite usual in Thailand!
The whole complex was small with a good atmosphere. There were unusual statues and ornaments everywhere which gave the place a modern outlook. The curved wicker sunbeds around the pool gave the place a luxurious feel, and there were more sunbeds on the beach for the hotel's customers. Thai women have an area on the beach at the front of the hotel and they are so friendly giving massages.
Small nice warm pool open late into the evening. Lamai area needs pools to swim in as it is usually very windy and the waves are extremely rough. I didn't venture in the sea because of the strong waves. My husband liked the look of them until he was pulled under with the force!
The restaurant/bar had very friendly staff and good food and service. The breakfast wasn't included in the price of the room but you could order what you wanted at the restaurant (varied cheap options) and you could have it anytime. The staff at reception were a bit more disinterested. They offered us a private taxi when we left which was twice the price of the taxi we hailed from the street (the hotel's owner had told us to do that by email prior to arrival!) He was from Holland and very nice.. spending time with his customers in the bar area in the evenings. He even let us have a very late check out for free, as we had checked in late just the night before and so we were able to spend the whole day around the pool and in and out of our gorgeous room.
We walked 5 minutes around the corner to see the Grandfather and Grandmother Rock Formations and bartered in the great market stalls there. We didn't walk the 15 minutes to Lamai town because we were going to Chaweng the next day and that has the same things there.
