“Relaxed, friendly, clean and comfortable”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

I stayed at the Beach Republic for 6 nights whilst in Thailand for a friends wedding. Staff were helpful and friendly, accommodation was modern, contemporary and clean and strolling down to the beach club to while away the days by the beach and pool was the ultimate in relaxation. The staff even made me a birthday cake for my birthday and I also couldn't fault the choices available for the breakfast buffet. Would definitely stay here again if I'm in the Lamai beach region of Koh Samui.

We stayed at the Beach Republic for 7 nights in total, after finally finding a hotel to completely relax and unwind. We were really impressed with all the staff members, especially as their English was so good and they were so polite and helpful. The receptionists were really good and were always there to answer any of my queries, whether it was advice on excursions, anything about the Island and so on! The room we had was more like an apartment, so spacious and had everything you could possibly need. Someone else mentioned the beds being excellent, I can definitely agree with this as my partner has never slept so well in his life. The buffet breakfast was really good, although I was put off by the massive ants crawling over some of the serving spoons. The normal dining menu, we found to be pretty expensive (more like English prices), including the Sunday brunch but the selection really was excellent. I think the only thing we would mention that we were disappointed about was the courtesy buses to downtown and Chaweng. They weren't often enough and didn't offer a pick up service from Chaweng which was really surprising and taxis weren't as cheap as you'd hope. All in all though, we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a bit of luxury as we were really impressed overall.

We're on our last day of a 7 day stay at the Beach Republic Lamai and can't speak highly enough. This is our 5th visit to Samui and have stayed at nice places but the BR stands out as the rest so far. Our accomodation ('2 bedroom penthouse with plunge pool') is exactly as advertised. No Photoshopped pictures (which is quite normal in Thailand) but what they show you is what you get. Buffet breakfast is good and staff more efficient than what we've encountered previously.
Nightly turn down service always brings a desert.Brilliant!
The location is just outside of Lamai and they offer courtesy buses a few times a day but we recommend hiring a car as this gives you the freedom to come and go, where and when you please.

We've just recently returned from a four night stay at Beach Republic, and must say we were delighted with the overall quality of the experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive; the villa was very comfortable, clean and well appointed; the bed was really excellent; and the Sunday Brunch was all that it was touted to be. I don't often say this, but we will definitely return.

We stayed at beach republic for 5 nights in October and didn't want to leave! Our room was really impressive, very spacious and we enjoyed the afternoon treat they left in our fridge each day. The best thing about beach republic was the atmosphere with a beautiful pool and beach area where there is a DJ from 1pm and buy one get one free cocktails from 5-7. Staff are really friendly and get to know you well. A must do is the Sunday brunch, (and wine buffet). Food is of exceptional quality, comparable to the top buffet restaurants we have in Melbourne.

Basically, this is the best place to stay in Thailand. No contest.

I stayed at BR in late October 2013 for a family wedding and had the most amazing time there.

It is very professional, clean, efficient and friendly resort where no expense has been spared in creating the ideal beach side getaway. From the pool area to the reception desk, BR does all right.

The location in Lamai beach is perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of Chaweng, but still has easy access to the night markets and slightly faster pace of Lamai. The resort has access to the ocean and has its own little beach, but with the quality of the pool area, you have no need to get sand on your feet. There are two different pools (both infinity style) which are surrounded by various types of chairs, day beds, and recliners. All of these are tended to by very attentive pool staff.

The restaurant is open plan and looks out over the pools and ocean. Breakfast is buffet style and has a huge variety of both western and Thai foods. And the fact that it closes at 1030 allows you a sleep in if you have been enjoying a cocktail or two the night before.

The accommodation is next level . As we were there for a wedding we had booked several different types of rooms. The apartment style rooms were clean, modern and spacious with their own balcony. The 2 bed villas were fantastic and had their own pool and every mod-con you could ask for. Plus, the beds were very comfortable. We also booked the 4 bedroom villa, which was absolute luxury. Complete with its own covered day beds, sweeping terrace, and its very own infinity pool, it was like living the life of a rockstar. Amazing stuff.

The wedding was an event in itself. A massive thanks goes to Julie, the residences manager, and all her staff for not only dealing with the intense temperature on the day, but for ensuring that the whole thing went to schedule and stayed on time. If you are thinking about having a wedding in Thailand, this is the place to do it. They cordoned off half of the pool area for us to celebrate and let us party to well into the night. It was the first time I had witnessed fire dancing, an elephant, lantern lighting and festival grade fireworks at a wedding. Very impressive.

Another massive thanks goes to the Julie and her team for making every effort to look for my lost cellphone, that ended up turning up in my shoe! Nothing was every too hard or difficult for the staff of BR and that in itself made the stay even better.

One last note, this is the only place on Koh Samui that I could find that played actual, decent music. They pride themselves on playing quality, non commercial music throughout the day next to the pool. They have a DJ who is an incredibly nice guy who DJs for the best part of 7 hours a day, playing funk, soul, hip hop, deep house and chill electronica. Most other places on Koh Samui played a hybrid of generic dance music and eurotrash, Beach Republic is not one of these places.

I will DEFINITELY stay again.

Room Tip: Spend the extra cash and stay in the pool villas. Late night, private swimming ;)
