We had stayed for 5 nights at Beach Republic. From other reviews we had made a conclusion that hotel is very good hence our expectations were quite high.
We had booked One Bedroom Penthouse poll villa as we were travelling as a couple but had bed upgraded for Two bedroom Penthouse pool villa for free.
The room was really perfect. Extremely well furnished and fitted with all very modern appliances.
Pool was clean. But the main value of the room is the sliding doors which are when fully opened had a span of around 5 meters. And a Sea View was just stunning.
In room keeping excellent.
Beach club is a right place to relax with a chilling out atmosphere. Cocktails were tasty.
The only possible minus to the hotel as almost lack of any private area. Actually hotel consists of a 3 store building and a small valley to reach the beach and the Club. But this minor issue is well compensated with all above advantages. Normally taxi could be taken to Lamai beach ( around 150 bath) or a walk of approx. 1,5 km.
Being back at home tried to remember any possible complaints \ drawbacks of the hotel at its stuff but failed. No complaints at all.
Conclusion: No real disadvantages. Extremely nice and lovely place. Very good service. Perfect value for money.

This hotel was the luxury around our tour of Thailand! The accommodation was incredible with the rooms being clean and beautifully furnished. The service provided by all staff was excellent from the pool to the bell boys. We felt very well looked after the whole time. The pool is gorgeous and the beach is lovely too. There is a a brill breakfast spread.

The staff around the pool were brilliant and the sun beds or sofas were amazing. The staff would literally run to lay out a towel for you on arrival and would start running across the terrace the minute you started to poor your drink your self to do it for you. The location is a quiet little spot but they do offer a free shuttle bus in to Lamai town at 6pm and pick up at 9pm and one to Chaweng Beach at 4pm (too early). It is about a 45-60 min walk along the beach from Lamai town.

There is great little massage place to the left of the hotel along the beach also.

Overall this hotel was superb and would definitely recommend it!

We wanted a Koh Samui break on short notice and happily secured a Getaway deal, which surprisingly came with many extras.

Our room was large and had a kitchen so that we could make the odd light meal. However, the restaurant was excellent, as was the service. The buffet breakfast was a treat with daily changes to the very extensive menu. The Beach Republic has a Sunday brunch which is world famous and any trip should include this. Tip though, it gets very busy, so you do need to book.

The beach is underwhelming for swimming but it still provides a fantastic seascape and was the scene of a few marriages and wedding photos while we were there. In any event who needs a beach when you have those wonderful pools and the king sized sun lounges draped with fabric to provide shade. We would happily laze poolside all day, reading, swimming in the pool, and just relaxing.

The resort offers free transfers to Lamai and beyond and they can arrange tours. We however contented ourselves with very few departures from the resort.

Overall this was a wonderful relaxing experience.

Our room was extremely clean and well appointed, the staff were courteous and competent and the food was great.

Room Tip: Some rooms (in the 300's) are close to where the staff park and it can get a bit noisy in the early morning with the cars and bikes coming in.

We stayed here in August 2012 and on reflection probably wouldn't have chosen this hotel although this was mainly due to it probably aimed at a younger market.

Comfortable rooms, great pool and restaurant area and luxurious sun loungers (more like huge king-size beds)!! Breakfast was lovely, although every mornign a bird helped itself to some of the uncovered food and the staff didn't seem to notice. We limited ourselves to the food that was covered or prepared to order...

My biggest issue (and a point that would be the reason why certain people would love this place) was the constant "mellow tunes" being played during the day. I prefer to listen to my own music but on occasions it was loud enough to go through my snug fitting earbud style earphones. Not ideal.

Moreover, the beach immediately in from of the hotel is a not good - poor sand (not the hotel's fault) and murky water (perhaps its fault) but it was littered with rubbish when we were there. Not impressive.

Stay there if you like groove armada style tunes while you lounge - if you value a quieter stay and prioritise a decent beach without a 15 minute walk, I'd suggest that you may want to look elsewhere. Oh and it's right at the northern end of Lamai Beach which means it's a decent walk from any bars.

A friend and I were fortunate enough to get a "book within 14 days" special with Beach Republic. Otherwise, it is unlikely that we would have been able to afford to stay there. Therefore, perhaps my review should be taken with a grain of salt, as we were two fairly young guys backpacking around Thailand. Originally, we were put in the 2 bedroom suite, which was nice but it wasn't what I was hoping for. Fortunately, though we were able to get switched to a 1 bedroom pool villa and they just put an additional small twin bed in the living room, which was fine for us, as we are fairly low-maintenance. I really enjoyed the pool villa and I have nothing but good things to say about the property as a whole. Overall, the food was quite good, though it was easily the most expensive in our entire Thailand trip. We seemed to be averaging around 2,200 baht per meal for two people (two apps, two dishes, 2 drinks). Again, this is certainly not outrageous and the food was good, I would even call some of the dishes were delicious! We probably had the best food in Samui at Beach Republic as well, when we ordered off of the "main course" list, however I think that bill was close to 3,000 baht. I'm really not bothered too much by this, it was an enjoyable experience.

The resort is definitely stylish and more lively than other sometimes sleepy resorts on the island (The DJ playing nice, downtempo tunes pool side, was a nice touch). I think that for what two single guys would want though, we would probably be better suited in Chaweng beach, however, this can't be held against BR...it is just different tastes for different people. Just a word of caution for people who are going to swim/wade in the water right outside of the resort...wear sandals or water shoes. I stepped on some razor sharp coral and cut my foot up. This is in noway BR's fault either, just figured I would let the fellow travelers know to be careful if you are going to walk out to the rocks. Not a big deal, just wear flip-flops.
