After a crazy few days in Bangkok we spent the most amazing relaxing week at Rockys. The rooms are gorgeous, the staff friendly and attentive, (hello Tui - always smiling) and the location is stunning. Highly recommend the Josephine boat trip. Its quite expensive but its a full day out with fishing, snorkeling and a substantial lunch (with freshly cooked fish if you manage to catch any!) As others have said the hotel is slightly out of Lamai but we hired a moped and it was fun just to take off and see parts of the island we otherwise wouldn't have discovered. We were on the half board deal with dinner each evening in the Bistro. The food was amazing, every meal we had was delicious. Only downside was we couldn't eat in the restaurant in the evening on that deal, but we had breakfast there each morning looking out over the sea. Drinking in the hotel is quite expensive, but this was no surprise given the quality of hotel and the cost of wine generally in Thailand. If you are considering this hotel you will not be disappointed.

We've just returned from 2 weeks at Rocky's Resort. The hotel was absolutely fantastic, beautiful rooms and very clean. Lovely attention to detail, with hats and beach bags in the room. The grounds of the hotel were full of plants ,bowls of flowers and tasteful features etc. The hotel looked so pretty at night with fairly lights, candles etc. Both pools also great. Beach outside of hotel was clean and with no one on it - absolutely bliss. The food at the hotel was also fantastic, especially the vast breakfast buffet. The staff were great, friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you wanted to eat outside of the hotel the nearest resort was called Lamai Beach which was around 5-10 mins in a cab, and whilst there were some good restaurant there, for want of a better word the place was a bit of a dump - fine if you like wall-to-wall Thai massage shops, nasty looking bars, and shops selling a load of rubbish. It was very touristy.

There is always a risk that return visits may disappoint. Not so with Rocky's.

Front desk............friendly and efficient. Met all our requests, dinner bookings, excursions etc.

Room.............as "returrners" we were upgraded. Large room, "Welcome back" champagne, Large bathroom, good toiletries. Good A/C, good sleep quality. Free Wi-Fi (a bit patchy at times). Complimentary birthday cake and a greeting in flowers on the bed.

Food.......very good. A wide choice of Thai and European. Breakfast has an A La Carte menu as well as a buffet. The fine dining in the evening is a bit pricey but worth it. The Bistro restaurant is good but lacks "atmosphere".

Service..........every member of staff always has a smile. Regular supplies of iced water at the pool.

This is a small resort and the beachfront pool is small so sunbeds are limited. At that pool, there is no escape from noisy and undisciplined children.(We felt like doing a severe mischief to Tabitha!!!) There is an unlimited supply of beach towels. If you wish to swim in the sea, borrow the free beach shoes or risk the sea urchin spikes!

The resort is popular for weddings which can result in a regular influx of large family groups.

All in all, our decision to re-visit Rocky's was a good one.
