For our honeymoon, we stayed 11 nights at Rocky's, after 4 nights in Bangkok. We wished it could have been more.
From the initial greeting at the reception and throughout our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed the warm and friendly nature of the Thai people who work at the resort. We mentioned some names when completing guest feedback, but it really felt unfair to single anyone out, as everyone from the ladies on reception, the room cleaners, the turn-down team (how lovely are they, we had a photo taken with them!), the security team, bar staff, restaurant people (have I missed anyone out!?), was so helpful; they really can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable.
The food in the restaurant was superb, we found the restaurant listed in several good food guides, with complete justification.
The resort has a very tropical feel, with massive elephant palms everywhere and lots of colourful vegetation. The gardeners were hard at work every day, maintaining it.
The resort doesn't pretend to be an international hotel. It is something far better (for us anyway), a place where you can relax and enjoy fantastic service in beautiful surroundings. It is rustic and blends beautifully into its' surroundings. The beach is small but more than big enough and kept very clean. And it is similarly beautiful.
We found the amenities to be fine and the resort has 2 PCs for accessing the internet to email home, if, like me, you wouldn't dream of taking your laptop on holiday! No room is more than 50 metres/1 minute from them, at reception.
We have high standards when we travel, but we don't complain about petty and unimportant things that shouldn't really affect your enjoyment. Ignore the dodgy reviews.

We'd rather have kept the resort a secret, so that the prices don't go up and we can go back next year!

I married my partner at Rocky's resort and could not have asked for a more perfect day. Every detail was carfully planned and excecuted by Rocky's Wedding Planner Rio. From my first iquiry to Rio via email to our last day staying at Rocky's, Rio was in constant contact with us, making us feel at ease, well looked after, important and well prepared for our big day.
The set up for our wedding on the beach was spectacular, the flowers were so beautiful... the celebrant was great, very well spoken and really interacted with our guests, as well as the photographer and all the staff that were involved. The reception was just as spectacular.
Getting married is one of the most special and important occasions in someones life and to be such a big part of that, as Rocky's was, is a massive responsibility as it is one day that the bride and groom will always remember. Our wedding was perfect and it was all thanks to Rio and every one of the staff at Rocky's that were involved in our big day. I would be confident in recommending Rocky's to anyone thinking of getting married overseas.
The resort itself is magnificent, although a little far out from all the shopping/ nightlife in Chaweng Beach, but is definately worth the stay. The rooms are very luxurious and very spacious, and the staff are very friendly and accomodating. The have a great pool and pool bar which overlooks the ocean. The food in the restuarant is amazing and so is the service.

During our honeymoon we stayed at Rocky’s for 2 nights (we planned 5 but left earlier) we stayed at the best suite the resort has to offer and paid a really expensive price (almost 350USD per night). when you come to a highly rated trip advisor resort and pay such a premium for their most expensive suite, you come with extremely high expectations, these expectations were far from being met.
I will start with the good things: the room location was virtually on the sea and had an amazing panoramic view of the ocean and surrounding rocks. the sand is very nice and the room had a large flat screen TV. The food was very good.
The bad things: the hot water wasn’t enough for two consecutive showers!!! on the second shower the water became warm and not hot. The air-condition was directed directly on the bad with no option to change the wind direction (and it was blowing like hell even on the lowest fan speed) so it was impossible to sleep with the air condition (it was actually hurting the face) and needless to say that to sleep without AC in this climate is a nightmare. the internet in the room wasn’t working due to a problem they had, so we needed to walk for 5 minutes to the reception to check mails. in one of the two breakfast we had the coffee machine didn’t work so we couldn’t drink our morning cappuccino and had to go outside the resort. The windows are king of old and thin so every person walking on the beach in the morning had a sound as if they were walking inside our suite.
When we decided to leave I approached the manager and shared with him all our issues asking for at least a discount in the price we are due to pay, although being very nice and stating he would try to amend all these things for the next guests he refused giving a discount and only offered a free transport to our next resort (which most resorts give anyway for free). To sum it up, in this price range you can get MUCH more then what rocky’s had to offer (and we did in other places) and maybe it used to be a great place, however a serious renovations or a different price point must be taken place.

I came across Rocky's a year ago on the internet when i was looking for places for us to get married and what a lucky find it was.
We have just held our wedding there and i have to say it was perfect in everyway. The amount of detail and effort that was put into it was out of this world! I will be suggesting to all my friends to get married here just so i have an excuse to come back. The resort is well maintained and the rooms are spectacular, Nothing is too much trouble for anyone to help you with. We would like to say a big thank you to all those kind, helpful people that we didn't get to know names of and to those who we did Rio, Luke, Carter,Blair and Noi thank, thank you for all of your contribution's to our special day you made all of our dreams come true!! We will be back, we have started saving already.

Rocky was perfect: the staff went over their way to make you feel welcome and relax. The setting is fantastic, the food at the restaurant is first level (great breakfasts) and very fresh at reasonable prices -much less than what you would pay for the same meal in a similar setting in Sydney-. The rooms and the landscape are just what you see in the pictures -if not better!- and they offer everything you may need without having to go outside to look for it yourself (from a tour, or a spa, to motorbike rentals) The boutique has very high quality objects without having to be doing a lot of shopping outside -specially if you don't want to spend a long time shopping-, as in Koh Samui you have to walk a lot to find very good quality -if you don't know what everything is-. They will pick you up at the airport with a blissful cold towel, complimentary drinking water, flowers... it was a dream of a place. When you arrive at the hotel, also a complimentary cocktail that tasted like heaven. If you are looking for a relaxing place, this IS the place to stay. We did our reasearch here in TripAdvisor and was exactly what we looked for. For some comments that say that the place is a long way out of Chaweng and Lamai -not distance walking- it is true, but moving around is very cheap. The other places we saw there are just in the middle of too much "action", sourrounded by huge brick walls, and not near as nice as this resort which is very natural, quiet and very high quality. Plus in less than five minutes by bike or car, you are there if you want to. Oh, the massages by the sea are another bliss, and for $10... they are really worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!
