My wife, Val & I, stayed at Rockys for 9 nights ending 6th April,
It was a fantastic place to stay.
The other reviews say it all. Our trip on the Josephine was a particular highlight.

The staff are extremely helpful, Lucas is always on hand to give advice. Tien was very knowledgeable about green mangos and even picked one for us. Kott kept our glasses filled up at the pool every day.

A great place to stay.

This has been my families second time at the Rocky and has yet again exceeded all expectations. All the great reviews written are for good reason, this really is a gem that needs seeing to be believed. The first experience you have of the Rocky is the outside, its stone wall reminds you of a castle and the beautiful signage sets the tone to a very exclusive place. As you enter the Rocky the guard on the gate stops the traffic to wave you in. Not only a lovely touch but a feeling of security and importance. As you go down the hill the gardens and lights are wonderful. The staff at reception welcome you warmly with a drink and Petch the front of house manager is on hand.

The rooms are very well finished carrying on the "red" theme. I would recommend all the rooms and simply upgrade to what your budget allows. Don't think the garden view rooms are basic as they certainly are not.

The food is upmarket cuisine therefore the portions are small but taste great and beautifully presented. The cost is comparable to UK hotel prices so I would not say its overpriced as some reviews have suggested. Drinks can be pricey especially wine as mentioned by others. There is a happy hour between 5pm and 6pm where you can buy one get one free. Make the most of this and it becomes good value. All other hotels we visited charged the same so the Rocky is in-line price wise.

If your looking at the Rocky as a honeymoon or wedding venue then you don't need to look any further. There is a lady called Ann who is on site for wedding planning and guides you through the whole day ensuring everything is perfect. The wedding ceremony location on the beach and evening meal are dream locations. The beach is private and very clean. The Rocky has 12 gardeners and 150 staff in total which is an amazing statistic.

The guests tend to be honeymooner's and retired rather than families with small children. I don't think screaming infants would really fit in!.

The Rocky lay on a free shuttle to Lamai 4 times a day and Chewang just once. Lamai in a taxi is about £4 and offers some good restaurants for various food. Due to the Rocky being so lovely you're always glad to return!.

The Rocky also do a drinks evening on a Friday where the managers come along and talk to you. Its a great time to pass any comments across as they actively welcome feedback. We only had one problem with a loose tap which was fixed in half an hour. Martin the general manager is very approachable and always about for a chat, he really appreciates all his guests.

Its disappointing a few people have rated this place as terrible, its far from it. Its without doubt one of the best hotels on the island and could well feature in the top 100 in the world, its that good.

Finally if red is not your favourite colour it probably will be once you see the Rocky at night. Its a very romantic place that can melt the coldest heart.

Room Tip: All rooms enjoy the same high quality furnishings. Pool View and Suites offer a bit more space altho...

This was by far one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in, we were there with family and friends for our sons wedding. Everything was just perfect. This hotel really does think of everything and all the little extras that make your stay perfect.
We are already planning another family trip to this hotel Lucas and his team are so helpful and friendly and go out of their way to make your stay so special.
LOVE THIS PLACE ........

Room Tip: No such thing as a bad room.......all rooms seemed to be of the same high standard

What a great place- We only stayed for 4 nights, but wished it was longer. All staff really friendly and helpful- Room beautifully furnished- complete with courtesy flip-flops, hats, beach bag and umbrella! Glasses filled with iced water around the pool and the private beaches- you don't need to find anywhere else. Whist there we witnessed a couple of weddings- what a delightful and spectacular setting- We were there during the Thai New Year and what an amazing time was had- we were all given water pistols for the New Year Water 'fights' and The Dining Room had a special Thai evening meal and entertainment. I have no hesitation in recommending Rocky's to anybody who likes quality boutique hotels.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are good value- but Ocean view rooms much more romantic

I first stayed at Rocky's last year for 14 nights. I had such a fantastic time, I returned this year for 16 nights ! I have travelled all over the world & stayed in some very good & expensive hotels. This is the very first hotel I have ever returned to ! Rocky's has everything ! It's small & personal, the beautiful grounds, the friendly & caring staff, the delicious food, the cleanliness & attractive rooms, not to mention all the very special little extras that Rocky's excels in ! Honestly, you could arrive with hand luggage & Rocky's supplies everything you will ever need & some ! They really have thought of everything from flip flops, beach hats & bags, toiletries, electric plugs, DVDs, computers, books, constant glasses of iced water by the pools & beach & cocktail sticks of fresh fruit, oh I could go on & on ! Last year I booked with Kuoni, this year I did it all myself & it was all very simple & straightforward. All the hotel transportation is in smart air conditioned comfortable mini buses or 4x4's, & everything from trips, to check in & out really does run smoothly & like clockwork. Whether you stay 24/7 in the hotel, or use it as a base for exploring, this hotel is perfect ! I shall return in the future, my problem is that having found my perfect hotel, nowhere else is ever going to match up ! Rocky's I need you to duplicate somewhere else in Thailand !

Our family of four ( 2 adults and 2 kids, 11 and 13) stayed at Rocky's for 5 days. We looked for adjoining rooms but were generously upgraded to the villa upon arrival. The villas are beautiful and perfect for a group. There are two large bedrooms with king beds and the upper floor has two additional daybeds that can be made up for sleeping. There are 2.5 bathrooms. The decor is Thai and nicely done. The beds and pillows are wonderful and the AC and fans were a welcome break on hot days and nights. They have a large flat screen TV and many DVDs available at no charge. Wifi was free and strong everywhere on the property. There is a private plunge pool which was spectacular.

Note the property is built on a gentle hill. Our villa was in one of the highest locations and we were 240 paces from reception and that included 57 steps. It was fine for us but may be difficult for less mobile groups. If you have mobility issues or young children, you may want to talk with reservations when you are discussing room options.

The breakfast buffet is nicely done, if more European than American. There are fruits and breads and a choice of a la carte menu items.

There is a kids room for younger kids and a pool table but I would position the resort for the more romantic couples audience. It was quiet and peaceful. They indicated that the resort was largely full but I would guess that there were less than 5 rooms with kids. While we felt welcome, if you have rambunctious kids or expect a more lively atmosphere, you may want to look elsewhere. Loud kids, at the pool or elsewhere, were noticeable.

The grounds and pools were lovely with the pictures of the resort quite accurate. It's beautiful.

The staff is friendly and plentiful. There must be close to a 1-1 ratio of staff to customers.

There is a shuttle into town several times a day although the last one is at 5pm. If you are looking to have dinner in town, you will need to catch a taxi back. Otherwise, there isn't a lot close to the resort. Walking along the main road is possible but the shoulder isn't wide and has some risk especially at night from the frequent scooters.

We took the Josephine boat trip which included fishing, snorkeling lunch and beaches at a nearby island. The coral and visibility wasn't as good as Angthong National Marine Park but there were plenty of fish to see and we had an enjoyable day. Make sure to be prepared for plenty of sun!

As a family, we enjoyed Rocky's and we loved the villa. I would recommend it to others with a special emphasis to couples and romantic getaways. With families, they need to consider whether a quiet resort is the best choice.

Room Tip: The resort is a quiet property. I think all of the rooms will be quiet.

Thank you for choosing Rockys, we are happy you enjoyed your stay you forgot to mention that we have a buggy for those less able, to take them up and down the resort. But we do of course have many rooms on or near the beach front.

Where do I start... I stayed in rockys for four nights at the start of April as part of a family trip!!! The resort is stunning!! I had an oven view bedroom which was just beautiful! The staff are great especially Lucus the guest relations manager he went out of his way every day to ensure everything was up to high standards for all of his guests!! The hotel is spotlessly clean, staff can we seen working hard every day in such high temperatures to keep the resort clean. Rockys is a short distance away from lamai and the hotel provide a free bus service to lamai daily. I only stayed for 4 days but that definitely wasn't enough I can't wait to return to rockys in the future! Thank you rockys for helping me create new memories
