Marketed to tourists as 5 star - this is NEVER a 5 star resort - it is more like 3 star.
They have 77 rooms and 7 different catagories from cheap to exhorbitant and they cater predominantly for budget travellers.
The entire resort is very tired. Our ocean front pool villa was a disgrace, filthy covers, blinds jammed, doors that did not open, very dark with bad lighting at night, wooden shutters swollen with rusty hinges unable to open.
Steps everywhere- high, narrow and uneven - not suitable for bad knees or hips
Plagued by Mosquitoes constantly in the suite and no mosquito management/spraying in place.
Staff speak almost no English which is totally frustrating, so communicating on a basic level is utterly frustrating. Food in the resort is unpredictable depending on the chef on duty.
No guest entertainment at night in terms of live music or Thai dancing or anything.
Far from the shops. No tourist information or suggestions, no free maps of the Island and of course no one who you can communicate with about Samui
The King bed was unbelievably uncomfortable like a SOFT marshmellow. The pillows were utterly appauling soft and bumpy-the worst ever. Happy hour is a joke.....I asked the barman who also speaks NO English if it was Happy Hour - he says yes and handed me the wine list. I ordered two glasses of wine and was given a bill of AUD$50 He could not communicate that Happy Hour is only for HOUSE WINE. This resort cost us almost $1000 per night - paid in advance - for 10 nights. NEVER AGAIN.

Dear APP560,

I must admit I am completely surprised and disappointed to read this review about your recent stay at our resort. Kindly allow me to summarize why.

On the day of your arrival, you had some issues and special requests in your villa which our team immediately tended to. Anything to make you more comfortable was our pleasure, particularly for a lengthy stay. While we agree that touch-ups on the villa would enhance the experience further and are actually working on them during this period, your feedback about the accommodation when we chatted each morning at breakfast was always positive. You specifically praised our room attendants care in ensuring everything was perfect and that you even wanted to take her home with you.

Although both the bedroom and living room of the Ocean Front Pool Villa is completely enclosed, mosquito repellants and coils were indeed set-up for you on a daily basis. Even the pillowtop of mattress was immediately removed when you mentioned it was too soft.

During your lengthy stay, our team came to know you quite well and you even had your preferred "goto" people for various needs, all with excellent English. You commended them and told us you were frustrated with the language levels found outside of resort. As we met daily, I personally assisted with many questions and suggestions which you took advantage of so I'm not sure where there were problems in regards to getting information about the island. By the end of your stay, you actually praised our team in general and by name, recalling no less than 8 individuals specifically. I was impressed how you could remember so many Thai names. With mere mention of a sore throat, one of our highlighted associates sent Ginger Tea to the room.

Unfortunately, our resort was full over the course of your stay on the island and you were disappointed with having to leave. The villa was not available for the entire period when the booking was made and so a different resort had to be booked for remaining days. You said you didn't want to go, even after 10 nights. Upon learning this, I offered to have you stay on as availability opened up but your arrangements couldn't be changed due to prepayment. However, you would be back. I even called you at your new location to ensure you settled in well.

Hence, to the original point about my confusion, I do wonder how all of the direct feedback I received translated in to the review posted. That said, as our valued guests, I do regret to ultimately learn that you were so disappointed with your visit and wish we could have done more. It is with regret to learn that you will not be returning but should you change your mind, we are very happy to welcome you back and will do our best to take even better care of you.

Sincerely,
Tina

We spent three days at the resort and enjoyed every second of our stay! Especially as we got an upgrade to an ocean front pool villa, which just was incredible! The villa was very well designed and had a nice, modern but still somehow colonial, comfy touch.
we had lunch and dinner twice at the latest recipe. it's a lovely airy restaurant with excellent food and very friendly staff. Also the breakfast buffet was quite huge with lots of different things to try.
In general, the staff was trying to give their best and always had a smile on their lips. Compared to other hotels all over the country, they spoke english very well and always repeated your orders/wishes, to make sure, they got it right.
The pool isn't as big as it seems on the pictures, but still large enough for all guests. unfortunately, you cannot really swim in the ocean, because theres an offshore reef. but we just enjoyed our pool at the villa anyway, so it didn't really matter to us.

We definitely would recommend this hotel to friends and other travellers!

Room Tip: we really can recommend the ocean front pool villa, altough it is very expensive! You feel like you'd own your little private vacation home!

Dear Danielan1979,

We're glad that you enjoyed the Ocean Front Pool Villa during your stay and many others have expressed feeling as you did in that it serves almost like a private vacation home. With a 165 sqm of space, spectacular ocean views and a 25sqm infinity pool, most of our guests who book these rooms tend to spend a lot of time it it!

Good though that you came out to visit some of our facilities while here and enjoyed both the restaurant and the service from the team.

Your recommendation of our resort to friends and other travelers is much appreciated!

Sincerely,
Tina

Spacious beautiful room with outdoor/outdoor bathroom. Lovely verandah deck. Pool and restaurant are great. Staff helpful and friendly. We stayed in a verandah room on the upper floor which was our preference. There are also rooms which overlook small pools which we did not require as we like to sit by pool overlooking the beach. Resort is located about 15 mins by car out of Chaweng Beach which is the main area.

This hotel is like a state-of-the-art and, very charming design in old chinese style. Certainly service is perfect. Me and my wife were happy for chosing it for our romantic vacation dedicated to wedding anniversary. On first day we'd booked a dinner on the pier - it was delicious and very glamour. The rooms are very nice, well decorated. I haven't before seen indoor pool with salted(!) water. Only one little comment one about beach: it is beautiful, but you can'r swim in water, because is filled with algas.

Room Tip: It is one defect In pavilion pool villas. When you stay backside in shower or toilet, you can listen what is going on in the toilet and shower in the villa next door)))

We arrived on a rainy day, without our luggage, which was unfortunately still in Singapore, but this did not dampen our first impression of Koh Samui. The hotel straight away took responsibility for chasing up our luggage and ensured it was delivered to us, they even offered to take us to the market to buy some clothes. The hotel was next to the road but you would never have thought this, as soon as you walked into the hotel it was peaceful and as you arrived you were greeted by the staff who were very friendly and right from the start you could tell they were there to make your stay the best it could be. We were taken to our room which had a plunge pool and we were not disappointed. The bed was so comfortable I had my first good night sleep for a while.

What can I say about the staff, they could not do enough for you, everyone remembered your name and you could tell that customer service was at the forefront. It was my husband’s birthday whilst we were there and a small cake was delivered to our room and everyone was wishing him a “happy birthday” throughout the day.

I wanted to arrange a reservation at a restaurant for his birthday and the young lady at the reception (K Dao) was so helpful, she arranged the reservation plus our transport. We went to Tree Top Restaurant which was fabulous.

Although all of the staff were friendly and helpful a few stood out to us: the Restaurant/Events manager (Botam) checked on us each day and we felt by the end of the holiday we had met a friend. The young lady (Meaw) who looked after our room ensured we had enough water and ice together with ensuring the room was kept clean, and Tuk Tuk one of the waitresses was excellent, I wanted pancakes one morning for breakfast and she arranged for these to be cooked for me a they were not on the buffet breakfast that day.

The location of the hotel was perfect; the swimming pool was clean, warm and had a wonderful outlook. The restaurant and pool bar were good, the pool staff checked if we wanted drinks throughout the day and food, which they then brought to us it was great to sit there overlooking the beach and sea with a cocktail in your hand.

We eat locally on most evenings, and you will find just outside the hotel a restaurant called Monthol's Grill, give it a try the food was good, especially the green chicken thai curry, resonably priced. Also give their breakfast a go. Another restaurant we tried was Mama Blue further up the road, once again good food.

Although the weather was not the best we still enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back again. Would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I would recommend the plunge pool rooms, on the ground floor, these are close to the restaurant and pool.

Dear magic002,

Starting your holidays off without luggage can easlily and understandably be a spoiler for many but it is good to know that your positive outlook prevented this situation from dampening your spirits! We are glad that the team was able to help get your luggage back and ensure that you and your husband were both comfortable in the meantime.

We are also delighted to learn that you enjoyed every aspect of your visit from the room, facilities and location of resort to our associates having taken good care of you throughout your stay. Your kind recognition has been shared particularly of Dear, Botan, Meaw and Tuk Tuk as highlighted!

Upon reading your review with the team, please know that everyone recalled you by name still.... and hope that you will return to stay with us again as mentioned!

Sincerely,
Tina
