A small restaurant with no japanese style at all, this "famous" chef were no where to be seen and the food was made by a thai lady who clearly dont know how to make sushi... The food look terrible, came late, Even tho there was only 4 tables and 3 were full.
We only got half the food ordered, but as we were so dissapointed we didnt mention it when the check came.

Ageha Sushi in Lamai is a traditional sushi restaurant: no conveyor belts, no J-pop tunes blaring, no flashy gimmicks. This place looks and feels and tastes like a sushi bar straight out of suburban Tokyo.

What they have here is an experienced Japanese sushi master, working solo, and preparing the best sushi we have had in Thailand

Other dishes we tried, like the sashimi, the wakame salad and the tempura were equally enjoyable, and the prices here are very reasonable. The green tea is really good as well, and the refills are free and keep coming witha smile from the attendant.

The only (small) gripe would be that with a lone sushi master, service is slow and can be a long wait during busy hours. But it's worth the wait.

This is by far my best experience with Authentic Japanese cuisine is Samui (Yeah, the chef is Japanese and he used to work in a restaurant in Tokyo, it cannot get more authentic than that.) I live on the island and always enjoy the pleasure of eating here twice or three times a month.

Lots of varieties in terms of sashimi, quite a few on the cooked dishes.

As other people says, the food preparation is extremely slow. The first time I went there at 3pm and only finished the meal after 5pm. But I learnt my lesson. For those of you who are reading this, here is the magic number +66 80 1430900. Call an hour in advance and do yourselves a favour and book a sushi and/or sashimi set before hands.

BTW, they close every Wednesdays.

Definitely a gem placed in Samui. The chef is Japonese and does a great work, with lots of sympathy. The food is fresh and abundant. They even offered fruit as desert and sake. The price is also a good surprise.

The chef is japanese, that's true. And the dishes are authentic. But he is the only one who prepare food in this restaurant. We have to wait an hour and half for our meal. But in the end have to go away without eating all courses because after an hour and forty five minutes they've discovered that they don't have ingredients. To make things worth, there were mistakes in the bill. Thai waitresses don't speak English and it was hard to explain anything to them. My advise: the place is worth visiting if there a few customers around. If there more then 15 guests, find another place to eat.
