I highly recommend spa samui..I wish I had of read earlier review..mozzie repellant is a must and so are ear plugs for the a framed. I did the 6 day juice fast and i had no problem. I skipped juices as there was just too much for me...i was rarely bungry.. The restaurant is amazing the raw food and vege dishes have me converted, ESP the tofu curry and the numerous raw food desserts..it's. very down to earth and there are some really nice people with lots of holistic health classes available. I will definitely come back..the staff are so lovely and accommodating

Room Tip: As stated above..a frames r the best but need mozzie repellant and make sure you have a mozzie net a...

Thanks for your kind review Tracey !
Maybe next time try staying at our lovely, totally private pool Villas - located about 600-700mtrs from The Spa Beach Resort itself (you won't need the ear-plugs thats for sure !)
One or two bedroom Villas are available, with lounge, kitchen, nice gardens & full size 'salt-water' pools (no red eyes, no chlorine smell or dry skin).
King size beds in the huge downstairs bedroom with a walk-in luggage room, and double & single beds in upstairs bedroom if you book a 2 bedroom Villa.
You may just book the downstairs bedroom by itself (1 bedroom Villa booking)
250sq mtrs of 'luxury' whilst doing the 'world famous' Spa Resort's fasting/detox/juice programs !!!

Second time to the detox spa at Lamai - prices haven't changed much in 8 years and you really feel that the owners care more about the guests than profit.
Did the 3.5 day detox - excellent results, not for the faint hearted but you meet the most interesting people at the detox bar and the friendly staff make the whole "process" easy.
Lots of people on hand to answer questions and opportunities to attend talks on healing, hypnotherapy, diet, yoga, meditation and so on.
The accommodation is basic nut super clean and comfortable - you'll need anti mosquito spray, and minimum clothing etc as the wardrobes are tiny, there are few shelves so the single chair became an extra hanging space. Most important - don't forget your ear plugs as the rooms back onto the busy main road and the traffic noise goes on (and on) all night! I'd take a scented candle as the drains can be temperamental to say the least! Also pack a torch - it can be dark and the pavements are full of lumps and bumps :)
Take advantage of the amazing Radiance Restaurant - excellent vegetarian food and raw food menu - everything was delicious and not expensive at all.
Beach towels are provided but you'll need an adaptor for electrical items.
What else - free wifi, and the rooms are only 1000 TBT per night for a double room.

Loved my time at the spa - it's not fancy but it's a special place and highly recommended.

Room Tip: As above - take earplugs and mozzie spray. Take advantage of the numerous massage huts on the beach...

Spent 2 weeks in 2005 and 10 days in 2006 at the Spa.
Accomodation was in an A frame bungalow and was quite basic...beware the mossies! (if they even have the A frames anymore!)
A stay here is more about the spa experience and treatments.
However....The beach outside the resort wasn't great, had to walk further along Lamai beach to get to a nicer section of beach. And it was plenty deep enough to swim, very nice.
The swimming pool at the spa was very small, but OK to help keep you cool.
There was a steam room, which was excellent...I loved that even in hot weather!
Had a few massages and they were excellent.
The photo's currently posted are of the villas further down the beach, which were of excellent quality. The living spaces (lounge, kitchen) were outside, with the bedrooms behind doors with aircon. There were showers attached to each bedroom but they were also outside in that they had no roofs. The swimming pool and garden were very private with high walls.

A Hotel notable for its Fast & Cleanse Detox Program -- one of the first and most famous in Thailand. Unless you are in Samui for that, not much of a reason to stay at this Hotel other than proximity to their restaurant. The Spa's world-class vegetarian restaurant fronts the beach. Rooms are near the road and unfortunately suffer from traffic noise. If you are considering a Fasting program, there is no better place to start than here. Patonized by mid-range budget, international clientele. Make sure you book in advance.
