Classic example of Thai son taking over the family business after university, except he knows NOTHING about running a resort. The hotel pricing for the bungalows is ridiculous, the hotel rooms are way overpriced. The pool can only be used by bungalow people for a fee-but who wants to walk on 100 degree platform. Breakfast is extra charge-definitely NOT worth it. The best part of the resort are the trees in front, but these are overrun with people NOT staying at the resort. People from other resorts take chairs off the bungalow porches and when it rains they go onto the bungalow porches for shelter and the management does nothing!!! There used to be a little white fence that kept outsiders out, but it washed away and the management is too cheap to replace it. Basically, the son pinches every penny, puts nothing into the property and keeps raising rates. There are way better places close by-Weekender-for a much better value and service. There is suppose to be free fruit, tea and coffee but the only thing that is ever replaced is the coffee. Oh, and now the son wants people to pay by credit card ONLY!! Outrageous when you consider foreign transaction fees. He should learn some bookkeeping skills. He is very nice, but is incompetent when it comes to running a business.

Room Tip: Booking on line is more expensive than walk in rates. There are plenty of places to stay nearby at b...

Found this hotel, had a look at the hotel rooms - very nice, however expensive and smelt a little like sewage. So we had a look at the 'beachfront huts'. All we are going to say is that there was a dead rat in the bathroom and it was literally a derelict shed - no other way to describe it.

It may be the truth for 500THB beachfront hut but today We demolish all our old bungalows and built a new three-floor building hotel. Currently, we have 44 rooms in standard and luxuary style with pool & gym.

With many good hotel options in Lamai, Coconut Beach Resort doesn't really stand out. At $50, it's priced higher than cheaper similar options for the low budget traveller. As for people who can afford more, they wouldn't be choosing to stay here. Facility has a new pool, small gym, a WIFI that doesn't reach much past the lobby, limited channels on TV, and a restaurant in name only. Rooms good-sized. Staff not smiley or friendly, but competent. Sliding doors to balcony are nice, but cannot leave open on account of mosquitos getting in. It is set away from main road, so at least traffic noise is not an issue. Again, many similar places nearby. As an annual visitor to Samui, there's been no problem with getting a hotel room the last couple years. Just show up and look around for a place that suits you.

This was perfectly located. It gave you the choice. You could relax and chill by the beach or you could party hard and walk into town for a bucket of vodka redbull and hit up the numerous bars and clubs. Theres a huge choice of restaurants around, but for me I liked the street vendors as they were super cheap and super delicious. The rooms are very clean, spacious and modern. The staff were a lotta fun and were happy to help where they could. It just lacks a pool which should be finished sometime at the back of this year.

This hotel was booked using an internet agent site. It was all that it explained it was.

The hotel is situated in the centre of the Lamai Beach resort on Koh Samui. Although difficult to first locate, it is actually only perhaps 100 yards behind McDonalds at the beach front.

The reception is large and bright. the receptionist spoke good english., and there was no problem with the booking.

The room was large and again bright with a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. You could not ask for a larger room.

The hotel fronts the beach so there is no problem there. Breakfast was served in an open air building by the beach which was good. Whilst the choice was limited it was served fresh and not a buffet which has problems in the Thai climate.

The hotel offers WIFI at a cost. Extra nights were booked at the hotel at the internet rate. This hotel is as close to bars and restaurants as you would want to be. It is a quiet relaxing place to stay with a very short walk to your night time entertainment.

The hotel also offers a gym area. The equipment is limited but fine. There is no swimming pool.
