This resort is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are fantastic, including the little beach huts. The private area on the beach is ideal, the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Fantastic value, lovely restaurant, free WIFI, beautiful grounds, near the centre of Lamai. Couldn't fault the place

Room Tip: Spend a bit extra for a garden view room, beautiful gardens and fantastic room + en-suite

We stayed three nights first and extended another three days. Its a great resort, very beautiful garden and quiet. The villas are awesome with your own living room and a really big flatscreen. We got an upgrade to a pool villa and our daughter had a great time in our own children safe pool. I really can recommend that hotel. The only thing which is not so nice is the stinky river in front but besides that 10 out of 10 points!

Have stayed here with my family last week, and everything was perfect,Ryan the hotel manager will go out of his way to help you in any way he can,the room we have is very big, with private swimming pool, very large television,a sitting room, with a very good comfortable sofa, very nice decoration of the room, and very nice staff.Big compliment to the management! The room rate include breakfast, which my two son really enjoyed.I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: If you want to have a little bit more privacy, and want to have a goodtime with your wife or girlfrie...

We stayed in the Zara Beach for more than a week and could therefore look behind the scenes. The hotel is usually very nice and calm except when the manager’s friends from Israel are among the guests. Then it’s time for party, excessive alcohol and special female Thai guests. Complaint useless - the manager is kingpin.

Welcome at reception was quite short – no drink, no information, just shown to the room. Getting information or explaining problems was difficult as staffs’ knowledge of English was quite poor. Be careful when settling payment: the hotel tried to charge us a credit card handling fee of 3% (..which we refused to pay...).

The bungalow (we had villa no. 5) was very nice and spacious. Plunge pool was nice, but not really of use as the water was too cold. At the beginning there was only one sunbed on the terrace, we had to ask for a second one. Shower was almost cold, in exchange fridge was too warm.
Room service was done with a minimum of effort: rough cleaning of the room, bedclothes were changed after we had thrown them on the floor on the 6th day…

Breakfast was either served at the pool or in the newly opened restaurant (finally after 10 months it was finished) and really was ok (croissants, toast, fruit, thai dishes, juice etc). Staff was very friendly.

The river in front of the hotel did not smell at all, but anyway the view from the hotel to the beach was not scenic due to rubbish and old sandbags lying everywhere around. The beach itself is one of the best at Lamai Beach. Be aware that there are no exclusive sunbeds for hotel guests; every other guest of the beach bar can take them – first come, first serve.

Staying there for two or three nights is ok, but not for longer. With all the laxness it is not worth the money. The hotel could be a gem on Lamai beach by simply changing management and caring about the pretended unimportant drams.

The bungalows are tidy, comfortable and have a separate BIG shower. The bed is very comfy and the room/s are spacious and clean. The fridge is not really cooling the drinks but a very effective way to put the coffee and tea maker ;-).
The main pool is ok, the staff very attentive but not very professional. Doen't matter, we are all here for holiday, aren't we?
The resort is located at the northern end of Lamai beach. The beach restaurant was not fully operational end of December 2011 - mai pen rai - there are almost thousands of beach shacks and restaurants around.
The beaches on Samui Island and Lamai, however, are not clean anymore (we stayed here already in the early eighties). The landscape is still nice and if you inform yourself about the location well in advance, there are plenty things to do.

Zara beach Resort was a wonderful stay from beginning to end. Whilst we only stayed one night on Jan 3 as were staying with friends other nights on Koh Samui we were totally over the moon upon checking in and being given a whopping upgrade! We had only booked the hotel that morning over wotif as our friends were delayed and we arrive far later than expected as our boat from Koh Phangan was delayed.
We were hungry and tired and the staff made us feel very welcome and very spoilt. We had a villa with its own plunge pool, lounge with huge flat screen and a balcony overlooking the beach. The breakfast was lovely sitting by the pool and the resort was well positioned near a fabulous seafood restaurant on the corner!
If we were to return to Koh Samui and needed a place to stay I would consider going back to this resort and using it to its fullest potential as we really didn’t have enough time there.

Room Tip: The villa room was wonderful!!
