Stayed at this hotel the first week of June and i have to report that the construction next door is in full swing. The villas on the boundary of the hotel take the full brunt of the noise which is seven days a week from 0730 hrs to 1900 hrs -> if you are allocated a room on the side of the construction there is no escaping the noise uless you are provided with a room change.

Now the good points:

Villa rooms are well appointed and large, private pools are private and they are kept very clean. During our stay we had two villas, one next to the construction (just as beautiful but noisy) and then we were moved to the panoramic view villa. As described in the name, the panoramic villa has excellent views of the ocean and the villa seemed a bit more modern with a few extra fixtures the reading lights in the bed headboard. All rooms come with ipod and ipod player preloaded with a selection of music, well appointed mini bar and wine fridge fully stocked.

The grounds are well keept and the pool and beach area equally as beautiful as the villas. I agree the beach is not suitable for swimming but this is taken care of with a free shuttle to Lamai and Chaweng beach.

Restaurant is good with a wide menu to cater to all pallets with reasonable prices. The restaurant service is excellent and the staff speak good english (never had a problem). The food was of very high quality and the executive chef very competent.

Front desk offers a good selection of tours at the same price as you can get them from the internet or tour booths in lamai or chewang -> advantage is you can charge to your room instead of paying cash to the tour operator.

I would recommend this hotel if at the time of booking you get the assurance from the manager that your room will be located on the spa / restuarant side of the property or after the construction next door is completed. Management did provide us with a room change but we spent the first two days with the construction.

Room Tip: book with hotel and ask for a room on the side of the spa / restaurant which is away from the side of the construction.

We had a poolsuite and it was absolutely impressive as one would expect from a resort like this. The ensuite bathroom is huge, with an indoor bath and an outdoor rainshower, the bathroom is probably larger than the bed rooms. Beds were comfortable and generously sized and we liked that they have a music player in the room we could plug our ipods in. Restaurant staff are eager to serve, breakfast is basic but adequte. Service is truly with a smile as the resort is small and staff all made efforts to remember our names or at least they knew who stayed in which villas. The infinity pool offers stunning views especially at sunset. This is a place for totally relaxing and being away from the main Samui area which can get so commercialized and overly busy at all times.

i try to make it short and simple since most of the reviews are very detailed already: everything with this hotel is excellent and the staff treat their guests personally and is very nice, friendly and welcoming. food is awesome, beach private, i can strongly recommend a candlelight-dinner by the sea. spa is amazing, too. staff professional and well organised, just a little bit language problems sometimes (some of the staff members are not as good at english as you would expect in a 5star hotel, but thats just a minor thing). we booked the ocean view pool villa that is very spacy, just the smell of the aircon was a bit unpleasant sometimes. my hubby organised some surprises with the hotel for my birthday: the chocolate cake, flowers and heart-balloons as well as the candle light dinner by the beach have been very well prepared (plus beautiful flower petals on our bed and in the bathroom) - it was just perfect. advisable for couples that like to stay in a calm and romantic place to enjoy facilities and service :-))) we also booked our own driver for one day trip on the island which was very nice. would always come back! :-)))

Room Tip: the ocean view pool villa is very nice but since you can see more roofs than ocean its better to book an ocean front pool villa, but this is much more expensive

Just got back from an amazing two weeks in koh samui on our honeymoon. It is a beautiful place to visit and silavadee was the perfect place for us to stay. It is peaceful and tranquil, it has the most stunning views, wonderful staff who would do anything for you. The restaurant served beautiful food, a little bit more expensive than what you could get outside the hotel but you also get what you pay for. The beach was lovely and some days you could be the only person on there. The water is rocky compared to the beach at chaweng which is a lot smoother but this didn't bother me as I don't tend to go in the water. People were using the kayaks and snorkelling equipment which was free of charge from the hotel though. The hotel spa is a lot pricier than the spas in lamai and chaweng but again you get what you pay for and the hotel spa was a lot more professional and personal to your needs.
The hotel is set on a cliff side and has quite a long drive up a dirt tack to get to it but there is other hotels and restaurants on the way to it. We always used either the free shuttle bus or the hotel taxis to get to lamai an chaweng which both have a good nightlife if the hotel is a little too quiet for you sometimes.
The rooms and villas at silavadee are just what they show you in the brochure and online. They are kept beautiful and are very clean. After cleaning the rooms everyday, the staff come back at night to turn the quilt down on the bed, light candles in the bathroom and leave a little gift on your pillow. Its a really nice touch.
Overall, it's a wonderful place which I would recommend to anyone and I hope to return myself one day.

I really enjoyed my 6 night stay in a Jacuzzi Deluxe room at Silavadee (no view since its on the first floor, but the balconies are still nice). I was very sad to leave and would stay there again. It seemed fairly busy while I was there, but the experience was still very intimate and relaxing.

The rooms are spacious and attractively designed and the beds are extremely comfortable. The entire resort is quite beautiful with great ocean views from the pool and the restaurant.

The pool is a good size given that its a fairly small resort. There were always enough loungers when I wanted to use the pool.

The private beach is also gorgeous and there were always more than enough lounge chairs and sun umbrellas there, though it's a bit rocky and not quite as suitable for swimming. There are free kayaks and snorkeling masks/fins/rubber shoes.

The restaurant was nice with a decent-sized selection of Western and Thai dishes. I found the prices to be in line with the fancier tourist-oriented restaurants, but that does make it rather expensive for Samui. Breakfasts were great, with a fairly wide selection of both hot a la carte dishes and cereals, fruits, juices, breads, etc in the buffet (both included with the free breakfast).

Service at the restaurant and throughout my stay was always very friendly. No complaints there.

Location-wise, Silavadee is a bit far from Chaweng and also a ways off from the main part of Lamai. (Renting a scooter/motorbike would be the most cost-effective way of getting around outside of the free shuttles... Taxis in Samui are very pricey.) I really enjoyed staying further away from the main tourist areas since I wasn't particularly inclined to exploring the nightlife. The location wouldn't work for everyone. I found the free Lamai and Chaweng shuttles to be fully adequate though the somewhat limited schedule wouldn't work for everyone.

Overall, I would highly recommend Silavadee though it might be a little less suitable for children (they could get bored, it's a bit quiet) or people who want to be in the center of everything/right on one of the busier beaches.
