Just got back from an amazing two weeks in koh samui on our honeymoon. It is a beautiful place to visit and silavadee was the perfect place for us to stay. It is peaceful and tranquil, it has the most stunning views, wonderful staff who would do anything for you. The restaurant served beautiful food, a little bit more expensive than what you could get outside the hotel but you also get what you pay for. The beach was lovely and some days you could be the only person on there. The water is rocky compared to the beach at chaweng which is a lot smoother but this didn't bother me as I don't tend to go in the water. People were using the kayaks and snorkelling equipment which was free of charge from the hotel though. The hotel spa is a lot pricier than the spas in lamai and chaweng but again you get what you pay for and the hotel spa was a lot more professional and personal to your needs.
The hotel is set on a cliff side and has quite a long drive up a dirt tack to get to it but there is other hotels and restaurants on the way to it. We always used either the free shuttle bus or the hotel taxis to get to lamai an chaweng which both have a good nightlife if the hotel is a little too quiet for you sometimes.
The rooms and villas at silavadee are just what they show you in the brochure and online. They are kept beautiful and are very clean. After cleaning the rooms everyday, the staff come back at night to turn the quilt down on the bed, light candles in the bathroom and leave a little gift on your pillow. Its a really nice touch.
Overall, it's a wonderful place which I would recommend to anyone and I hope to return myself one day.

I really enjoyed my 6 night stay in a Jacuzzi Deluxe room at Silavadee (no view since its on the first floor, but the balconies are still nice). I was very sad to leave and would stay there again. It seemed fairly busy while I was there, but the experience was still very intimate and relaxing.

The rooms are spacious and attractively designed and the beds are extremely comfortable. The entire resort is quite beautiful with great ocean views from the pool and the restaurant.

The pool is a good size given that its a fairly small resort. There were always enough loungers when I wanted to use the pool.

The private beach is also gorgeous and there were always more than enough lounge chairs and sun umbrellas there, though it's a bit rocky and not quite as suitable for swimming. There are free kayaks and snorkeling masks/fins/rubber shoes.

The restaurant was nice with a decent-sized selection of Western and Thai dishes. I found the prices to be in line with the fancier tourist-oriented restaurants, but that does make it rather expensive for Samui. Breakfasts were great, with a fairly wide selection of both hot a la carte dishes and cereals, fruits, juices, breads, etc in the buffet (both included with the free breakfast).

Service at the restaurant and throughout my stay was always very friendly. No complaints there.

Location-wise, Silavadee is a bit far from Chaweng and also a ways off from the main part of Lamai. (Renting a scooter/motorbike would be the most cost-effective way of getting around outside of the free shuttles... Taxis in Samui are very pricey.) I really enjoyed staying further away from the main tourist areas since I wasn't particularly inclined to exploring the nightlife. The location wouldn't work for everyone. I found the free Lamai and Chaweng shuttles to be fully adequate though the somewhat limited schedule wouldn't work for everyone.

Overall, I would highly recommend Silavadee though it might be a little less suitable for children (they could get bored, it's a bit quiet) or people who want to be in the center of everything/right on one of the busier beaches.

Many hotels bear the badge of 5 Stars. Over the years, I've stayed in quite a few myself. What really sets this hotel apart though, is the service and attention of the staff and its location.

Silavadee is located at the South Eastern tip of Koh Samui, towards the eastern end of Lamai Beach. It's not exactly at the beach central, however, that was exactly what I had in mind. Close enough to scoot to town, yet enough distance from the main beach to enjoy the peace and traquility.

Breakfast, coupled with a panaromic view of the vast ocean, simply cannot go wrong.

The hotel staff, I find, without going into details, seem to know where my wife and I were and that is a touch of personalised service. This alone, sets Silavadee apart from the crowd of 5 star hotels.

Of course, one can point out that perhaps its due to the smaller amount of guest that Silavadee can cather to. However, I choose to believe that the staff at Silavadee are just great people who make an extra effort to be hospitable.

The amenities are top notch. As you would expect in a highly rated hotel. The pictures accurately protray the rooms. But, you will find, that the pictures hardly do the rooms any justice. I stayed in the Villa 20, and it is, in short, Awesome.

Like most of the guest that have been to Silavadee, I would too, plan to return to Koh Samui and Stay at Silavadee in the near future.

I cannot stop raving about Silavadee, had a wonderful 6 nights stay and would definitely go back!!! Right from the point when we wrote emails to inquire about room availability to making our reservations, to check-in and check-out; Silavadee was everything one expects from a samui break and more...

My main reason for choosing silavadee was the great recommendations on TA and its location at Lamai. We wanted to stay close to all the happening stuff in samui but not right on the face of it all and silavadee was apt for that.

LOCATION: Silavadee is located right next to Banyan Tree and Renaissance and on a sort of hill and has a private beach as well. Its very close to lamai beach and just a 5 to 7 minutes drive from all the raving restaurants like The cliff and many more. Chaweng beach and restaurants are just about 15 minutes on a bike and lamai beach takes just 10 minutes from Silavadee. Bophut is a little far but very manageable on a bike/ car.

TRANSPORT/ ACCESS: Silavadee provides free shuttles to all key beaches so if you don’t want to hire a car or Bike, you can plan and manage with the free shuttle. (The schedule picture is uploaded). If you want to hire a bike or car, it is best to rent it out from the hotel. 2 reasons for the same- one you save time; two- moneywise its almost at par with market rates. The price outside is 200 TBH for a bike for 24 hrs & 800 TBH for a car (base category) for 24 hrs; wherein you have to give them your passport and pick and drop the transport (you can’t leave it at hotel). To me, this means extra hassle. If you take it at Silavadee, The bike will cost you 300 TBH for 24 hrs and the car (base category) 1000 TBH. But you don’t have to give your passport etc and the ease of picking it from the hotel and leaving it right there rests with you. You save both time and money (If you hire from outside, you pay extra to reach back hotel and the time you spend just picking and dropping can be used to enjoy samui).

PRICING: Another great part at Silavadee was the way they have priced things in the hotel. It being such a luxurious property one could think that food and drinks etc would be expensive. On the contrary, they are at par with normal eating and drinking places across samui. So, we didn’t hesitate eating at the pool bar, Cigar Lounge and the lovely heights restaurant and ordered room service many times.

AMENITIES: There is no dearth of great amenities. The Rooms are all fabulous and equipped with satellite television (Ok number of channels) and Ipod. They have a free DVD rental availabIe and a lot of books that you can borrow to read. We stayed at the Ocean view pool villa- 18 and were very pleased with the robes, coffee machine, hot water kettle, hair dryer, lovely bath products and toiletries. I also liked the gorgeous beach bag and the beach towels were so helpful. The mini bar was well stocked and priced decently for a place of this level. I also found the electric carts fun to ride along the property. Silavadee has a private beach and we spent one full afternoon snorkelling. At the beach you have scuba shoes, Snorkelling equipment and kayaks that we could use free of cost. I also enjoyed drinks at the beach bar.

OVERALL: It was a wonderful 6 nights’ stay. Breakfast was plentiful and had a-la-carte and buffet choices (you can choose one of the many a-la-carte options and still take additional stuff from the buffet). So, we got to have a variety of things in our 6 days’ stay. I loved the shrimp and pork dimsums everyday! They are a must try. Many thanks to Sabine and Natthapong who handled my multiple pre-booking emails and queries. Khun Aon- made every morning doubly bright with her thousand watt smile at breakfast and Thanks to left and bee, who were always there to help us with dining suggestions or helping us with the vehicle rentals, figuring and marking routes on maps etc. All in all the warmth, luxury and hospitality at silavadee made our anniversary celebrations memorable. Special mention to Mr. Connor (The GM) for meeting us and hearing all our inputs and suggestions! If you are planning a samui vacation then silavadee is a great place to stay!!

Room Tip: If you can afford, go for a ocean view pool villa, its amazing!

Wow. We were in Silavadee this time last week, and we would go back there in a flash. The place is just beautiful. We had an absolutely lovely room with a wonderfully comfortable bed, fantastic bathroom, daily fresh fruit and evening treats and iPod music player. The breakfast buffet each day was just great - I've read elsewhere on here that people could get bored of the breakfast...I just don't understand that - it was just lovely. Loads of fresh fruit, pastries, meats, cheeses, etc. - as well as a full (and free) al a carte menu.

The resort has a really lovely pool area (with plenty of shade from the boiling sun), and a nice private beach (although it really is too rocky to be able to swim comfortably in the sea.

As a couple of other people have said, the resort is really quiet, and that may not be to everybody's taste (it was ours - we loved it)...however, if you're prepared to walk for 10-15 minutes there is a whole load of stuff nearby (including the very different and fun Beach Republic). I'd also recommend JR's restaurant on the road to Silavadee...wonderfully cheap, and fresh food with a smile.

In terms of service, everybody at Silavadee was just so friendly, happy and welcoming. The only fly in the ointment is that with such a small resort, when there is a wedding on (we had two during our stay) it takes over everything...and the service did suffer a little on those days. However, that's not a big deal really.

We'll be back to Samui no question...and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was at Silavadee again! I can't recommend it enough.

Room Tip: Well, the more you spend, the nicer it'll be...ocean view pool villas are the best (and most expensive).
