The Tecina Hotel really is a beautiful hotel! It is indeed very quiet with nice people (only a few people who still reserved their sunbeds in the morning, spoiling the fun for other guests).

Nice and friendly staff.

The hotelrooms are two-storey. We had a front ocean view comfort room on the second floor. The view is incredibly beautiful. The rooms on the second floor are much better, I wonder why the hotel does not ask a higher rent for the upper rooms, so a guest can really choose a room on the second floor.

Food is great. The breakfast is outstanding. The main restaurant for dinner is very good, do not bother to go to the other restaurants, the principale is the best. Go and have dinner at 7 pm when the restaurant opens, you will see people running for the tabels outside, giving a breathtaking view on the ocean. This is really fun to watch!

The island La Gomera is very very beautiful. Rent a car at the hotel and go explore! The island is very green with beautiful top gear driving roads. Amazing views!

The weather on the south side of the island, where the hotel is, is normaly good and sunny. Clouds form at the top of the island with some rain on the north and top of the island where you can enjoy the green national park.

You must know you will have to travel a lot to arrive at the hotel (and for returning home). The Fred Olsen ferry goes only twice a day. You will have to grap a taxi at the hotel at 6 am to be on time in the harbour for the 7:30 ferry to catch your plane at Tenerife. The hotel offers a small breakfast from 5:15 am (thanks a lot!).

So if you want a quiet, nice, sunny holliday and you are not affraid to travel a lot to get there, the Tecina Hotel is your place to stay!

Room Tip: book a comfort room and ask politely for a room on the second floor.

Wonderful hotel, incredible view, nice staff, but the restaurants could need some improvement. I suppose the guests are quite used to gourmet standard, but the hotel doesn't reach this level, unfortuneately. The best way to find very good, local food is the village nearby. The restaurant on the lower level, near the sea tries - but not hard enough. This is a marked, and I would gladly pay a bit extra for it!
Another thing is the fee you have to pay for using the safe in the room. I have never experienced this before, and I don't undestand the reason.

Agree with the other reviews. However, didn't always find the staff in restaurant, especially the older men very helpful! They were unsmiling and unapproachable. Need to look at Riu hotels and see how to treat guests. A smile doesn't cost anything.

You have the ingredients why let some spoil the atmosphere.

Room Tip: Have a sea view room upstairs so not noisy. We heard cleaner moving furniture in the mornings as th...

We stayed for just over a week for our honeymoon ...... It was just perfect in every way , the quaint hotel , welcoming staff , amazing location .... The view from our balcony was just breath taking . The hotel upgraded us and Gave us a special honeymoon meal too !!!! . Even though there was work being done in part of the pool and Bq area we were quite worried but there was no disturbance . We are saving to go back already. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who is after a relaxing treat ...... Tracey & Paul

Not so much just a hotel but a village of superb quality accommodation under the ownership of the Fred Olsen shipping line set in the most beautiful sub-tropical gardens. A real quality location. The hotel is situated on the cliff tops overlooking the small town and fishing harbour of Playa de Santiago with it's own twin lift system leading to a short walk to the town. As a guest you are spoiled for choice with the hotel's own championship quality golf course, tennis courts, and if a more relaxing holiday is preferred, two swimming pools in the main central area, one large with separate children's area and the other smaller and deeper. The main two restaurants offer a wide variety of buffet style and a la carte food which should please most discerning guests. Another swimming pool with adjacent miniature golf is located outside of the main hotel area at the foot of the cliffs just a few steps from the lift exits. In addition this area also features more beautiful gardens and sun bathing areas and a further restaurant where again in addition, a varied a la carte menu is also available. This cliff top setting is on a sloping site so for a person with some walking difficulty accommodation nearer the central reception may be advisable, although we did note visitors with some difficulty managing very well.

If there are items you forgot to pack or maybe small gifts to take home for relatives, there are two unit shops adjacent to the main large bar lounge.

Entertainment when on holiday is also a must, and on most evenings there are shows to enjoy. Finally I must mention the pianist Anne Tina who plays in the main lounge from 8pm most evenings. She is a pianist of undoubted concert quality far above the standard one would normally find, with a repertoire of everything from pop to classical. This hotel was quality, the efficient and friendly staff, the high standard of cleanliness, the conscientious maintenance of the gardens, the standard of accommodation and the food finally made this two weeks a holiday we will remember for a very long time. If all these features don't keep you in the hotel, La Gomera has walking and scenery to match and often surpass anything one could see elsewhere in the Canary Islands.

Room Tip: The rooms are located in a series of walkways on a sloping site. At the lowest level you look stra...

The view is absolutely stunning - and it is definitely worth to have sea-view room. The garden is gorgeous. Gomera is very quiet island, so this is a perfect place for quiet, relaxing holidays - or for trekking holidays. Hotel has a range of activities - like various walks (and I do recommend to use hotel walks, at least to start with and to understand topography). It is much better to drive to National Park for walking or trekking, as the nature there is really beautiful, whereas the cost is deserted.
Service in the hotel is really very good - reception is trying to solve all your problems. They even tried to reward us for the inconvenience due to renovation of major pool, offering us free spa.
Main restaurant and international restaurant offer very good food in quite good variety. Wines are not expensive and quality is fine. Breakfasts are simply magnificent - especially when you sit in the terrace and look into the sea.
Regarding food - I rather recommend to avoid "Gomeran food" In Club Laurel - it was really hideous!
The hotel is well-kept, water in the swimming pools is warm enough, the beach is typical canarian - black, with cold water.
The little town near the hotel is rahter sleepy, but in the hotel the evening entertainment is really a good fun. I usually avoid entertainments, but since the hotel is located in a very quiet area, it was nice to have this option in the evening - I only regreted they provided it from Thursday to Sunday only.
Piano bar in the lobby was open every day - and it is worth trying due to very relaxing atmosphere and lovely pianist.
During the day the best option (if you not play golf) is to rent a car to see the island or to rent a mountain bike. We really enjoyed seeing breathtaking landscapes while travelling with car, visiting Valle del Rey and San Sebastian, but above all - trekking was a real pleasure. There is so many trekking trails in this island, really a trekking paradise!
Also, we had a real fun by doing mountain bike trip with "Primera bicicleta"
I really loved this place. Maybe I will come back one day - who knows? There is still such a lot of world to see...

Room Tip: We did not get a Superior room as our agent was not able to book it for us, but anyway we got a wond...

Make sure it is a sea view room and while the rooms are perhaps a little tired, I cannot say enough about the views, the sea, the sun, the waves breaking on the beach and the sense of tranquility I felt whilst there. Do it, go there and relax, it is brilliant.
