Lefkes Village Hotel
Ranked #1 of 1 Hotels in Lefkes
Reviewed June 23, 2008

We just had 2 weeks in the cyclades with 3 islands (Mykonos, Paros and Santorini) and this was our second stay.

We had a double room, N°22, with a nice view on the valley below and Naxos island. The hotel is located in a small village in the center of the island, very quiet and very typical of Paros. The owner, Georges Pitas, is an icon of the area and a person you must meet. He wrote an excellent book on Paros which is the exact type of guide you would expect to buy (ours was crap).

PROS:
- Very nice village;
- Comfortable hotel;
- Staff very friendly and helpful, all with correct English;
- Bedrooms are spacious and nicely decorated;
- Nice swimming pool area;

CONS:
- Breakfast;
- Steep slope to exit the Hotel;
- No restaurant in the Hotel;

RESTAURANTS:
- we fell in love with the small port of Naoussa here we had most of our diners: Barbarossa, etc...

PLACES TO SEE:
- Drios with its charing beach and nice restaurants for lunch;
- The villages of Prodromos, Marmara, Mrpisa and Piso Livadi;
- The beach of Lageri (you can forget you swimsuit...);

We recommend this hotel as we really enjoyed it ourselves.

small family hotel with lovely views, completely off the tourist beat.
stunning pool which might not suit small children as there is a smaller shallow area. traditional greek breakfasts. quiet and restful. simple greek style and helpful, warm friendly staff.

Lefkes is an old village set in the mountains and you would need a car for mobility which the hotel can arrange. Busses run from the village to Paroikia and elsewhere every 2 hours and its an alternative that's fun and cheap.

I would recommend eating at the Taverna Lefkianou ( best food in Lefkes) as the hotel does not at the moment have a restaurant.

The driveway is steep and Lefkes also requires a reasonable level of fitness.

You'll not be disappointed - its like Paros was 35 years ago when we last visited

This is a lovely hotel in the nicest village on the island. It has a special atmosphere. The best things are the views, the accommodation and the breakfast. Worst thing is the steep hill up and down to the road, which would be challenging to anyone with below-average fitness or mobility problems.

I stayed at the end of the season, which meant that the restaurant was not open for evening meals. This is not a problem as there are a number of pleasant, if unspectacular (from a culinary perspective) tavernas in the village.

Couldn't fault the staff who were friendly but not over-friendly and most helpful. Sadly the weather was awful so didn't get the chance to enjoy a drink on the terrace or swim in the pool but I guess you can't blame them for that!! Views from my room were fabulous (even through the clouds and rain)down the valley and across to Naxos. Really comfortable beds and frequent changes of linen. Very nice and spacious too and good supply of hot water (not always a given in Greek hotels, in my experience!!) Breakfasts were terrific with wide range of choice. They made me Greek Coffee each morning as I don't like the brewed (stewed) sort - I asked the first morning but after that it was offered every day.

Only downside was the very steep hill up to the main road leading in to the village. I think it is worth warning people about this as would be very hard for someone with walking difficulties/without a car to manage - nearly killed me and I'm only middle-aged and unfit!

Levkes is the nicest village on the island without a doubt - picturesque but also with things to look at/visit and sufficient practical necessities such as shop and tavernas (though several had closed by the end of Sept.). Have already told friends about it and would recommend it to strangers too - or at least those who want to avoid mass tourism, cheap packages and chains. If you want a step up from the usual Greek pension with a liitle more class and a lot more style but not an impersonal mass-market hotel then this is just the job.
