We were recommended Elizabeth's by some savvy fellow travellers and really enjoyed the traditional food and mountain-village ambience. Unlike other inland villages near Paleo, such as Liapades, the drive didn't involve super-narrow streets and parking difficulties (there is a car park a minute beyond the restaurant on the left). Local kids were playing in the square, locals were out blowing the breeze. We bought ice creams from the shop and had a lovely cool evening

Traditional Corfou cooking made to order. We enjoyed the sofrito and the stiffado.
Very small mountain village... With 4 taverns on the town square.

We visited the taverna last year and vowed to go back this year too. We were so pleased we did as It did not fail to impress. The food was great, good quality, well cooked in a traditional way - just like my mum and nan cooked years ago. I and my family enjoyed the experience. Elizabeth's granddaughter was at the helm and she was very hospitable and friendly. Clearly, well trained by her nan. It was a pleasure to visit and we will certainly go again next year. Prices are very good, portions are very good and company is great. What more can one wish for....maybe a glass of local wine?

A great eating experience in very quaint village setting.

Early May 2013, on our way from Palaiokastritsa up through the mountains on a Quad bike. Off the beaten track we passed through the village of Doukades. Lovely little village square, tight narrow roads with Taverna's either side. Turning around outside the village, we came back into the village and pulled in at Elizabeth's Taverna (established 1960). Right on the edge of the village/square road. Ordered a Greek Salad and local wine. Gorgeous food and wine with a service to match a top restaurant; followed by a desert on the house. Sit and watch the world pass by in the lovely Greek weather. Look for the Wurlitzer Jukebox in the corner of the Taverna and browse Elizabeth's photo album going back 50+ years. Take a walk around Doukades back streets, exquisite.
